When is 2.1 :( can't wait!
according to something I read somewhere it will probably be late october early november. I don't remember where I saw it but yoshi said it's definitelly this year or they will be overloaded with work with the ps4 beta and all that is coming next year.
"Extremely Strong"
Apparently there is no communication between departments.
So.... Which is Coil of Bahamut stronger or Crystal Tower?
I predict tower will have iLVL 80 lootz.
Where you get November from? I was thinking more of Early-Mid December. Since they kind of hinted at the end of the TGS Live Day 2 that they want to do the usual Producer Letter Lives every month up till 2.1's release. Then they go into saying that they want to try and make the Producer Letter Live to one topic talk, first one being Housing, then next one for Wolves' Den. And on the Game Watch interview asks when 2.1 is and YoshiP says within this year, then goes into saying they want to get it out before the end of the year as it will get into different problems (probably due to other companies going on holidays, etc.)
So my guess for patch 2.1 would be Early-Mid December, although I would be happy if it was November.
November we'll be getting the FFXIII Lightning F.A.T.E. released on 11/14 so we may see some things updated at the same time, specially addition of basic basic sort feature. (Full on sort supposed to come later)
My best guess is November 14th, as that is when they stated the Lightning cross-over thing is going to happen.
Crystal Tower is the more casual content that you actually use DF for. Coil is the raid you take your FC group to do. Crystal Tower was suppose to launch with the game but it wasn't ready yet. It makes sense that it drops lower level gear because its easier and you can DF it.
To be quite honest, from the pics and the TGS vid, the design of it to me looks at the very best boring o___o Purely talking about the aesthetics of what we were shown so far, but I guess I'll have to wait and see whar it ACTUALLY looks like once it's in the game. Dunno, judging by the exterior pics (which I loved) I was expecting something.... prettier?
Looks like a new map pack DLC for some Halo game.
they shouldnt wait for 2.1 to introduce CT :/ it was an initial content and now things are messed....people already with ilvl 90 and farming only AK for mythos its so annoying and so are monday AK queues.
Oh heavens, you mean to tell me they might have to actually do work?!? How terrible that must be for them!
It's not so much to do with the amount of work of "rendering" (and I doubt they'll need to render them since the source material already exists) and animating the physical models, it's lazy in the sense that instead of taking the time to come up with a dungeon that has some overarching tie-in with the story of this game or at least some form of original set of fights specific to this game they just pulled a dungeon from one of the old FF's that gives them the ability to pretty quickly pack in a bunch of bosses that have nothing to do with this game as an easy fix for those asking for more content. I liked FFIII, but if I wanted to fight those bosses again, I would just go play that. I was just hoping they would put more thought into something unique, not just essentially more filler content with no substance to it - I feel like there's plenty of that already.
But to burst your bubble a little bit there, there have been at least two 3D remakes of FFIII that I know of, and the mechanics of the fights won't be anything that isn't a variation of something that is already in the game so lets not get too carried away with the description of the process. Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm absolutely wrong and they blow me away with how cool this dungeon is but if all the dungeons are just going to be re-imaginings old FF bosses - I mean what's the point of even putting in the backstory of this game?
iirc the crystal tower is supposed to expand on the main storyline, probably why its being DF'd
It was mentioned a long time ago that they were going to throw a lot of old FF references into ARR, dungeons, story, certain fights, whatever. If thats really gonna bother you, might want to look for another game to play. I personally welcome the "rehashed" content. Its fun to fight old bosses with your own character years later after seeing it the first time in sprite/chip-tune format with different heroes altogether. My personal favorite so far was getting to see Demon Wall again. Loved the FF4 version, FF7 was barely a nod though, so this was nice.
It doesn't mess up the backstory. They have already mentioned that any fan service boss will have reason to be here. Maybe you never played FFIII, but the crystal tower exists outside time and space, and can cross dimensions, therefore, it can be easily explained why it would be here. Same with why Lightening can actually make sense here. Valhalla is the place between worlds.
So as I did. Until i saw the part of "Extremely Strong" Which got me curious..
Since you will be climbing the tower. Meaning as higher it get and it'd be stronger Obviously. And if they label as Extremely Strong, meaning some of boss from there could be harder than few floor of Coil of Bahamut is what I'm curious about.
I feel like i said it wrong... Sorry if its confusing grammar.
I want that "I BEAT TITAN" shirt that one guy is wearing in the first video.
They're not going to port DS models into one of the prettier FF games. They're going to remake, re-animate, and re-render the models as they should be - an FFXIV reimagine of FFIII bosses.
Plus, FFXIV isn't a turn-based game with an ATB battle system, or anything even remotely close to the handhelds. They'll have to reimagine the mechanics to work with the system already in place.
From what I've read, they are making Xande into Xandes, an allagan king entombed within. The tie in has been made. If you don't like it, well that sucks. Luckily I do.Quote:

Could be spoiler for those that didn't play FF3 so going to hide it.
Since they are going to go full out with FF3 style Crystal Tower, wonder if we're going to get the dungeon after the Crystal Tower with Warriors of Dark, I already see the art for Cloud of Darkness, which was the final boss in the last dungeon after Crystal Tower. Crystal Towers final boss was Xande.

Yep, and if they had that last dungeon BGM arranged, my head would explode. Was one of my favorite BGM's in III, FF3 had so many BGM's that made me just want to leave the game on at that specific part to listen for hours (NES version BGM)
Eureka was one of them... That just remided me... We also got to go through Eureka to enter Crystal Tower... LOL...
Wonder if they adding parts of this BGM inside somewhere - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELkQwHhCXpA
I really don't see the hype for Crystal Tower. It's going to drop ilevel gear WORSE than Coil. Seems genuinely better to just farm AK, WC, and Coil.
And a 24 man instance? :/ Really? Groups cap at eight. So why four separate groups?
Unless there's a new group feature I'm not aware of coming in 2.1.
For some of us, FFXIV:ARR isn't just about getting best gear, it's experiencing the Final Fantasy inside a MMORPG.
I doubt they'll add these in Crystal Tower later but in FF3 all the Legendary weapons (Excalibur, Ragnarok, Masamune, Elders Rod, etc) came from there (specifically dungeon inside the Crystal Tower, mentioned in my previous post), for gear wise listening to what YoshiP said at TGS, we can assume Genji set to be coming from Crystal Tower and probably Crystal gear set <--- this one is just my guess.
This game needs transmutation where you can keep the skin of an item.
