Quickfix for Gil and alternate leveling for second classes

Morning guys, this may have been discussed at length before, but I am wondering if a good quickfix for the issues we are currently facing until the next patch comes out is to implement one very small change.

A level 50 quest after the main story is completed called "Memories of the Echo" that re-unlocks all the games sidequests to be done once more. This will serve two main purposes.

1. Introduce 200-300k gil per person who completes every sidequest again into the economy (the team could change the monetary rewards on the fly to balance this number)

2. Aleviate some of the boredom and congestion seen in FATE grinding currently without putting additional stress on the duty finder servers.

3. Spreads people out a bit more and due to the gil rewards gives level 50 people a reason to level a second or third + class.

Granted this is only a temporary fix, but in terms of resources I imagine this would be easy.

I'm not seeing a problem with gil myself. I am doing fine with just leveling Botanist and earning my gil rather than needing to redo quests and have it handed to me.

The problem isn't with earning gil. The problem is that, aside from new players leveling up their first job, there is very little NEW gil coming into the economy. Selling things on the market boards do not generate gil, but move it from one player to another. There are gil sinks in this game, like repairs and vendor purchased items (taking money OUT of the player economy), but very little gil fountains, like quest rewards or boss dropped gold (putting money INTO the player economy)

That said, daily quests are penciled in for the next patch, however I would really like to see Leves get an overhaul; in terms of both Objectives and Rewards.

Gil increase every day at sever. You just don't know but SE knows. You need find a way to make mony.

I agree in that leves definitely need to be overhauled. As it stands they're practically worthless.

There's effectively no gil going out of the economy. We're experiencing horrible inflation already because nothing costs gil. Put in a little work, and you can turn in leves for up to 50,000 new gil into the economy every day, pulled out of thin air. This is why everyone and his mother is sitting on piles of gil right now. Just leveling crafters on leves will pull down 10k per day at a bare minimum.

Putting more gil into the economy is a bad thing. There aren't any sinks, so the gil just builds up and inflation goes nuts (and it already has). Creating more means of increasing the amount of gil will just accelerate the problem. At this point, houses will have to cost 10,000,000 gil to even begin to get a handle on the problem.

The gil issue aside I think it is worth doing merely to give people some alternate way to level that doesnt involve FATEs or the limited # of leve's. MMO's are about options, I believe having sidequests as a 1 off seems to be a huge waste in development cost and time for one 3-5 minute piece of content.

Other MMO's have you level multiple characters so the sidequests are done repeatedly, now I am not suggesting unlimited retries as that would be abused but a reset now and then maybe once every expansion or when a new class/job is added might not be a bad idea

I think they should just increase Leve effectiveness. They are essentially a daily quest as it is. I wouldn't say they are useless either as they make it easy to level new characters with ease and once I hit 15, I left for dungeon grinding for awhile. I am sitting on 100 of them and have been doing just enough of them daily to bring it back up to 100 everyday without wasting them on cap.

Taxes on the market are supposed to fluctuate and I am willing to bet this will become the main sink as gil increases on server. Since they dropped the repair cost down, it will increase somewhere else.

Wow I am so happy to read that! Sure, FATE lvling is pretty quick but really is boring after a while...opening up all sidequests to each class you level gives back the freedom to do what you want to level up. As far as gil goes, I'm not sure...it seems like all the best items are untradable once you obtain them, so I havn't had much use for gil as a battle class.

They should change the chests in dungeons to give everyone in the group the tin/silver pieces instead of random people. Maybe slightly increase the amount of them as well. Not only would this give a slight boost to the amount of gil being generated in the economy but would also give additional incentive to run dungeons which not only helps the DF but also rewards players who help others run dungeons they don't necessarily "need" for themselves. Win/win

Do DoH/DoL leves. They give tons of gil.

Some of the DoH ones are as simple as "Buy a thing off the MP and turn it in" and since crafted items are so worthless right now, you're still likely to make a profit.

i don't even feel that there IS a gil problem anymore, since repairs got hotfixed.

FATEs, Leves, and Dungeons bring a lot of gil into the system already.

AH tax, Teleports, and NPC repairs are the current major gilsinks to help balance it.

I made 200k gil from a leve turning in 200+ Hi-potions which I gave to the person who crafted them for me.

The people who think leves are useless are the tards who speed-rush their jobs to 50, and think they're done with the game, without ever touching any crafting job or DoL. Leves are 'invaluable' for leveling crafting/DoL jobs.

Quarrymill, Alchemist Tradecraft leve (25). can be repeated 3 times give you very big exp as well as gills (if you turn in HQ hi pots) as well as shards (though it changes betwen shards / sands). I used this leve to level up alchemmist from 45 to 50 lol,

I can understand where OP wants side quests to be repeatable for other classes, that's not what I'm talking about.

Gil problems? Really? How?

Y'all just need to do more dungeons. You get better gear out of dungeons. Instead of running to every FATE you see, queue in and do a couple dungeons to get that next level you need to continue in the story. Not only will you get WAY better gear, but instead of all that crap gear you get as Options in your quests, you can just take the Allagan pieces instead.

I have like 200k gil and I hardly ever do levequests. I made some money selling craft stuff early in the game's life, but I've spent well over what I made just buying mats to keep crafting. Still have 200k.

I always wonder how are people so rich! I won't say how much I have because it's not alot, it's more of an embarrassment attraction, but this one guy in my LS claim to have 20 million gil. go figure.

I must be doing it wrong, because all I do is lose money when the stuff I need to craft requires things I can't obtain from NPC or through gathering/mining. If anything, I'm just reducing/mitigating the amount of loss I incur through crafting.

No, they are right, but only for DoW/DoM classes. And not everyone is interested in crafting.

The issue with prices being so high is that we are swimming in gold from leveling. This sets the market at a very high point. Sadly since this gold is 1(one) time infusion it is leading to the rampant inflation that you are concerned about.

FYI: Yoshi-P admitted at that there is a gil problem. They didn't plan on any surplus, hence the average player, i.e. the one that Yoshida wants to play this game, has very little rsecourse in gil generation. Which working with the above creates an issue. Now if your solution is to force a player to level a DoH/L then they may leave, and that create yet another problem all together.

To borrow something that other guy does. You the one from that company that's buying itself back from Vivendi and didn't book an extraordinary loss this year You should feel like you receive a benefit for doing something. Not a punishment for not doing that action.

Certain early crafters got ahead of a rigged game. Early bird gets the worm, and it's a really big worm in FFXIV.

Introducing methods that generate gil (not exchange) is tricky. RMT... I don't think I need to say anything more about them. You'd be taking a big gamble by allowing a flow of gil to be quickly/easily generated. In the case of RMT, we're not talking one character/account here, we're talking dozens, if not hundreds or more, per server. Beyond that, would the market be able to handle such things? Would new players be able to afford some reasonable upgrades when it comes to an inevitable inflation? How much of a strain to the servers would it be for X method of gil generation to be done by a large scale of players?

Leves, namely combat ones, definitely need to be looked at again. The combat rewards, particularly exp related, is just... bad. At least when compared to doing FATEs. The crafting related leves though are a different matter. They're actually decent gil generation. Not so much for an NQ turn in, but an HQ one is very good. The higher your craft is, the more gil you generate. 500-1k gil (or more) per HQ turn in, for just ONE leve, is significant at this point in time.

This has been suggested multiple times. White Knights who believe this game has no flaws and doesn't ever need to be changed in any way will just shoot down the idea for a multiple of stupid reasons.

There currently is no inflation, Don't assume that because MB items are so expensive, that is has anything to do with players having piles of gil. RMTs, and the occasional greedy/stupid player are the only ones charging an arm and a leg on MB. Prices aren't up because peopel have the money, in fact, more players have trouble making gil then earning it.

In the most recent live letter yoshi said he wants to fix the economy and add more gil to it because of the deflation currently happening.

I don't mean anything negative by this, but I see these sort of threads repeatedly about the game having a gil problem and wanting to put more gil into the economy--can anyone tell me why they believe the game has a gil problem?

Like others have stated, I personally have a steady stream of gil that more than covers my costs and a lot of unnecessary things too (food, potions, big gear upgrades for my classes, vanity pets, buying things I could gather myself but am too lazy to...) so I'm having a hard time figuring out where the gil shortage is. I understand the idea that my personal situation doesn't necessarily reflect the economy's (nor would the gil-troubles of someone else reflect it), but how can you be sure of what the economy's situation is then? Where is our evidence that anything is amiss?

It's not an issue with you PERSONALLY being able to earn gil. It has to do as a collective. There's not a lot of ways to generate gil into the economy. Mostly at endgame. The best way is HQ crafting leves(I believe, correct me if I'm wrong). Other than that? Being a level 50 DOW/DOM doesn't net you a way to generate more gil. You just consistently lose it. So if let's say there's only 50 million gil in the current economy(on your server). Now the server as a whole is losing gil at a rate of 100,000 gil per day, but only gaining about 50,000 gil per day. This would eventually lead to the server losing more and more gil. People's wallets stagnate. There needs to be a way to GENERATE gil into the economy other than through HQ crafting leves(which are limited to 6 per day if you do them every day).

Also, when not a lot of gil is being generated, and people spend gil on things that do not put gil back into the economy(such as teleporting, or repairing at an NPC), the results are what we are currently getting right now.

Looking at the replies to this thread it seems that Gil generation is the one that gets people most upset. My original idea was to unlock the sidequests again in order to allow a viable leveling alternative to fate grinding without putting more strain on the duty finder services. Sure it'll only give you another class part of the way to 50 but for those of us that aren't interested in spamming fates in ever increasing groups from 15-50 we need another option. Dungeons would work if they gave more exp and had shorter queue times (dps) but in the meantime unlocking all the already completed sidequests a second time would be a quick fix to keep people interested.

Who knows it might even shorten the wait times on AK...

There are enough Gil Fountains (ways of creating money into the economy) in this game.
What there isn't is enough Gil Fountains THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO LVL A CRAFTING CLASS TO USE.

Please name your horses correctly. The crafters are creating more than enough money to counter the sinks.
You just need to get up your arse and stop thinking this game is just about running dungeons.

There isn't any evidence. Its mainly people that only run endgame QQing because they are not being handed buckets of gil for their efforts. Now I agree that they should at least be compensated for as much as repairs cost - I think that is solved with repair costs being adjusted. This whole 'gil issue' has been fabricated based on nothing but conjecture. People are tricked because the conjecture is based on real economics but there is no evidence to back it up.
