Remove +'s on Gathered Items

You already removed the +1's and 2's from most item tables. I'd rather see them all gone.

Right now all of the variations in gathered items are completely arbitrary and a waste of space for inventory.

I'd like to propose replacing all of the none +, +1, +2, and +3 items in the game with just a Blank item with no + but with the same effect as the +3.

IE

+1, +2, +3 Marmot Hide > Marmot Hide (With +3 Stats) All stacking.

Theres two benefits to this change.

1. The Item Database drops in size. Increasing access times. Improving Lag when accessing your inventory and other things that access a item database.

2. Decreases the amount of inventory slots taken up by one item type. 4 Items becomes 1.

This would be one good fix, tho some would complain that it is too easy to HQ everything since every item will be considered +3. I like it tho. Will save much inv space, and involve less variables in the coding.

Nope. Crafters already abuse gatherers enough without everything being the same quality. 2 types of quality is fine though, just like battle drops.

Well, nah. IMO the correct would be removing the +1 and +2 from any non-equipment item.

Just make NQ as NQ and the +3 as "HQ" of that item...with the +1, +2 and +3 for gear...what i didn't like in your suggestion is that its all or nothing...when you remove all HQ, or everything would work like a NQ item or everything would work like a +3 item...which is bad in both cases.

But the complete removal of non-equipment +1 and +2 items do would be welcome...they could just turn all current +1 and +2 materials already ingame into +3 and permanently remove the +1 and +2 materials for good.

I was only talking about gathering items. Materials and stuff, not gear yet.

but they would be the next step. And since we talking about gathering stuff, why not also adding crafting materials as a whole? ^^

They can also remove iron sand, limonite, silver sand, etc while they are at it. They all make the same shit.... another waste of inventory space. Keep the X ore, ditch the rest.

This all sounds like a serious case of lazyness. Can the local alchemist prescribe anything?

You would have to be a fool to want this.. +1 items give you more SP when used in crafts!

I guess people dont like having more control over HQing items, never mind some items can only be made via HQ.... Oh and want to take more money out of gatherers pockets, because whatever the new NQ becomes, it aint worth much if every one gets it easily.

Some time i think people enjoy stabbing themselves in the foot. People complain about random range, and they add a system that allows you to control your gamble, and people complain.

Yep. people likes to complain. But good complaints are welcome. they may very well take the +1 and +2 items out of gathering, like they did with monsters. It only makes sense, and they already talked about it. I hope they do it soon.

I doubt they'd take out +3's and make everything considered +3 tho.

I'd like to see +1 and +2s gone because all they do is clog up my inventory and no one wants to pay more than NQ for them. They're only willing to pay more for +3. As a result I never put +2s up for sale and rarely try to sell +1s.

Also things like limonite, iron sand etc. serve their purpose. Take gold for example. Gold sand is way easier to dig up than gold ore and is available at a lower rank. I'm all for making gold, iron and silver rarer but I don't think removing the sand is the right way.

I wasnt talking about making it rarer. Ore should be made more common if limonite/sand is removed. the only purpose they serve is to take more inventory space while gathering.

Well let's say you did just replace every current sand dig with an ore. You'd have to make it rarer because it takes 6 iron sand to make 12 nuggets vs 4 ores. You would have to do some calculations to bring the supply of nuggets into line with current production. Simply replacing all sand with ore would mean 50% more nuggets entering the economy from each dig that would have yielded sand. I've never had a problem with various types of ores, sands and limonite. It's even less of an issue now it stacks to 99.

other thing about sand and ore synths, they generally have different difficulties, so you can get more bang for your buck out of synthing one type of ore, also if i rem correctly many of the repeat formulas have items you can get from hqing that are different, like getting gold out of yellow ore i think. versus copper ore which is always copper

Nah they are the same difficulty/rank. Limonte = Iron ore = iron sand, Gold ore = Gold sand, and there is no mythril or copper sand, they did that one right... Yellow ore... just a recipe with strange results like jade. Now they should do with gold and iron what they did with mythril. Yoshida mentioned something about there being 'too many recipes'. 3 recipes to make one thing is 2 too many. Taking the 2 of the 3, or 1 of the 2, whichever, will reduce the amount of recipes. Will also reduce the amount of recipes for steel nuggets from 6 to 2. And still, will save inv space while gathering by not having to have all these same-yet-non-stacking materials. Add the removal of +1 and +2's and inv space will be saved.

By removing things like iron sand, the % chances of items appears would need to be adjusted to avoid the rarer items becoming more common.

I don't know about you guys, but I at least would prefer to get iron sand over more zinc ore.

I like the way things are. They might end being used for different recipes later on...just because an item only have 1 recipe right now doesn't mean it will always have 1 recipe...let's see when darksteel and other metals appear.

I think instead of dropping +1,2,3 altogether they should just have normal and +, drop the extras. That way at most a single type of item is taking up 2 spaces instead of 4 and you still have a superior quality item to use.

Why would it be easier Reika? When they rolled all drop items into NQ and +3 they did not change the drop rate. It fact it makes it harder to HQ as you only have NQ and +3. You still get the same drop rate on items as +1 and 2 goes away and they don't increase a drop on +3.

The change to battle drops didn't keep the +3 drop rate the same, it increased it (effectively a stealth nerf to gathering). I was very surprised that the exact same action wasn't taken for gathering drops.

I missed that. But either way its not going to flood the market with HQ gear imo. Not with how damn random the HQ system is.

I think that was more of a panic fix. They saw people desperately wanting more inventory and changing a couple of variables in the code seemed like the easiest way to apply a quick fix.

I actually wouldn't have a problem with +1 and +2s returning to battle drops if they handle the inventory better. But I want gathering to be on equal footing so either get rid of +1/2 in gathering or re-add them to battle drops and find a better way of handling them in the inventory.

I would be absolutely against the removal of +1 and +2 when gathering. If they where to do it the same way they did it for battle that would put a huge dent in my hqing potential. Lets look at one of my recent gather sessions on silver sand.
54% NQ
22% +1
16% +2
8% +3

So if they where to change it how they did for battle that would put it at
76% NQ
24% +3

Another thing to consider it seems that when you gather a +3 it typically is a lower yield amount. How many times do you get hard cap yield as +3? I hardly ever see it while I get hard cap +1 and +2 all the time. Would this change still keep it a rare occasion that you would get maximum yield at +3?

Overall I think I would much prefer half of my items of various high qualities instead of 3/4 being NQ and the last fourth being +3.

I've no problem with any of the above issues.
