which tank you prefer to heal? which one you think easier to heal?does it really matter at endgame content?
Prefer to plan my use of Lustrate rather than 'need' to use one because a WAR just took a dmg spike that a PLD can avoid for the most part.
So Paladin. Even though I really like WAR's on a personal lvl.
havnt really done the endgame runs yet, but i dont feel any difference between the 2 from 15 to 50.
post-stoneskin, both are easy to sustain with stoneskin and regen.
In my experience I've always had a better time with Warriors. But I actually think this has owed more to a difference in player skill than the classes. Like good players are just more likely to go WAR.
Definitely Paladin, since they make the best use of my Adloquiums and have higher survivability in general, giving me more time to spread my DOTs.
Both. WAR are usually a little more challenging. And PLD I like for when I'm feeling a little lazy. Also, I guess you could say I like white knights. :p
I still have to heal a PLD that is as good as the WAR I am healing. So being biased with that, I prefer WAR.
I have had a lot of experience with both, and I can say without a doubt that when they are equally geared and skilled, a paladin is way easier to heal than a warrior. They just take much less damage.
Paladins, for sure. At least I can DPS a lot more in Amdapor Keep with a Paladin around, if that's any indicator. :p
For Titan HM I prefer a paladin normally because I have to focus much more on a warrior for spike damage. For normal 4 man runs I prefer a warrior.
Paladin... less spikey.
Paladin for trash, Warrior for bosses. And I mean a good Warrior, average/bad ones I'd rather not at all.
Any tank that can hold threat on more then one mob.
I prefer to heal the Tank that's in the party with me, taking damage so I don't.
If they're both good, either is fine.
If they're awful, Paladin. Bad Warriors just get destroyed so fillpin' fast.
I prefer to heal paladins. Warriors hold threat amazingly, but I feel like I'm healing someone who is wearing a silk dress for armor. Paladin is much easier on my personal stress levels =D
Between a good and geared warrior and a good and geared paladin, I've had a much much easier time healing warriors for some reason. All i need to do is stoneskin + regen. Then i sit there for a good 15s before rebuffing stoneskin once again and refresh regen when necessary. Primals, however, requires a bit more, but then, its primal HMs.
I don't know if I really have a preference. I found it very neat to see that Flash could be used on a lot of classes, so I've found WAR tanks to be pretty nice actually.
One of the absolute best tanks I've had in about 30 runs of Brayflox was a WAR tank. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/2994274/
She was also super crazy, pulling two groups of mobs sometimes, so about 6-7 monsters all at once - and she had no problem with hate. Healing though, was heart-attack inducing. ;x
If DPS were better at managing their Enmity, I'd probably enjoy Warriors more. It's something to do. However, I've never been in a game where the DPS are so ignorant to everything going on around them. So it's for that reason I prefer a Paladin. They make my life easier knowing there's more cushion. Warriors HP is all over the place and it seems they struggle because they all want to play a Paladins with a big axe.
I prefer Warriors as a tank yet. Really like the big HP pool. :)
Paladins require less healing, and are less spikey. On hard content they're the clear choice. On things you can just walk through, WAR is probably better because Overpower does damage and Flash doesn't. Free damage.
Paladins hands down, they are so much easier to heal. Sorry Warriors :(
Paladin (10 paladins)
thanks for all the response here, i guess i have to reroll to paladin to make healer love me more :p
Warrior's HP jumps around a lot but that's just how Warriors work. They rely on self-healing so even when they're totally fine because they will just self-heal back up, they will still give healers heart-attacks, especially those who don't know how Warriors work. Also, since their HP jump around so much, mistakes are also much more fatal to them.
In conclusion, there's doesn't really seem to be much advantages for Warriors for endgame. A good Warrior will not perform any than a good Paladin so why go through the risk and stress? Its another thing SE needs to rebalance. Warriors are a bit better at AoE damage and threat but that's not nearly enough to matter.
Well in general i prefer to heal a good tank. I guess Paladin is more laid back on the healing with 4 man content it's actually mostly boring just throw a regen and a cure on them now and again. Warrior on 8 man content i feel like i can't ever take my finger off the trigger for a second or they'll just die.
Doesn't really matter. I've had both of them so far and it's easier to heal a good Warrior than a bad Paladin.
Short story: good players are always easier to heal no matter what.
Warriors!
/realtanks
That's more a problem with the class. The class could be great at tanking but SE did some moves that I'm raising eyebrows at. Yes we have self healing but it's not that strong or comes at great sacrifice. Plus why would you give the 20% damage reduction to the shield class. The non shield class should've had rampart and the 20% defense should've gone to the paladin.
But also look on how your healers are healing you not much WHM I come upon uses their stoneskin on me. In any MMO you'll play the shield class is more easier to heal then the non shield class. But does it mean that WAR can't tank of course not I'm a WAR and I check my healers and right now I t rarely see them going oom.
For me, well it depends. For dungeons (any) doesn't matter. For Ifrit I prefer a paladin. Garuda, either a Pal/War or a War/War. For Titan, War. For Coil obvious is paladin.
Paladin without a doubt.
Far easier to peg to a trend and alternate between DPS and healing.
