Fate opens up. Everyone talks to it and says. Battlefield for lv50 do you wish to Enter?
Yes.

It warps you into an area where players are fighting it. Once area reaches its cap noone else can enter. That Cap being 50 players. This area works like a dungeon so noone can even summon their minions if they wanted.

Everyone wins and exits and earns silver or gold.

So you want an event meant to be open world content to be instanced for level 50s only not only that you only want 50 players on a server of 8000 to do said event Ill would have to pass and say no to this.

Because the walk of echoes went over so so so so so very well in XI.
No disrespect, but this is a terrible idea.

I kind of enjoy the mass of dead players on the ground. It makes it more epic and it's hilarious.

I say have these battles as 24 man guildhest challenges and only allow a player to complete this challenge once a day/week.

This way it would work more like BCNM's from 11 than the Zerg nonsense we experience in this game.

These FATEs really don't work when you have 50-100 people all hitting on the same target.

You also ignore that parties cap out at 8 players, thus the 'final' number would be a multiple of 8.

I was under the impression the problem with these FATEs was that players couldn't see Odin/Behemoth? With their poor priority system of which assets load/zone out, even 50 players is potentially be too many. I haven't actually counted some of the sizes of FATE zergs, but even in Quarrymill I have experienced NPC phasing in and out.

I like this idea. The primal fights are good fun, and more no trash, no nonsense encounters (like the upcoming moggle mog) would be awesome, even if they were on a weekly lockout.

Walk of Echos didnt reward anything that great and noone did it first off.
ts better then what it is now where only 1-4 players earn credit and rest 700 players earn bronze.
Behemoth phase 1 just makes it worse. Lets everyone have more time to gather on time and crash the zone or the server.

Don't see how its a bad idea.

Maybe your upset your alwas the last to reach those events. Even if your late theres no way your gonna even get silver so better stop trying.

We are getting alliance parties in 2.1, which will be 24 man, but that still doesn't change your point about 50 people in an instance.

fyi, I'm not exactly upset. You're the one making a thread whining that the game needs to be changed for your convenience, into your terrible idea - an idea which is widely regarded as a complete failure in FFXI.

Not to mention the sheer number of people in one zone has been causing the servers to severely lag or crash as a result. Accessing Behemoth and Odin via guildhests gives people a reason to care about guildhests.

Yes it was mostly just semantics, but it would be incredibly odd design to have incomplete parties - in this case a party of 2.

As you mentioned, weekly 'raids/guildhests' on Behemoth/Odin would be good fun, and at least they would be done they way they were intended, unless of course they were intended to be zerged by players of all levels. :P

The current design isn't good. The bosses turn invisible, one shot huge groups of players that can't see anything and rarely does anybody get gold ranking.

The OP's idea isn't perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than what it currently is.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I'm assuming you're making a joke at the fact the entire events right now are a explosion of colors with no visible enemy cause apparently Chocobo and Minions take priority over something killing you in terms of loading... But yah its Odin lol, says so in the shouts :P

Game really needs poppable NM's no one else can help you with or even heal you(/healaid off from ffxi + leve system from this game) as well as group leves for epic bosses that can be done once a week or every 3 days or something. Fates are garbage in their current state, Tequatl in GW2 is the only fate boss done right, and it took them over a year to create a single good one.

What I want is for them to make a new zone in coerthas for behemoth (a small area maybe 1/10th the size of coerthas) and do the same thing in south shroud. Then you need to attune to the entrance to be able to go into the area and you have to be level 50 to attune to it. Then put an aetheryte in there you can bind to so you can port to it.

The OP isn't wrong here. It's no fun fighting the Invisible Man. SE needs to come up with a solution. Honestly I think these two would make a great Lv.50 24-Man Guildhest.

Why do people keep posting complex "solutions" to this when we all know that they need to just give those bosses rendering priority over other players and their pets?

While I haven't done these two fights yet, I've been really disappointed with large-scale FATEs thus far. Svara is the biggest FATE I've done to date, and that was always a mess. I can just imagine how bad these two are. I really hope SE has a solution coming down the pipeline on this soon because the experience is NOT working as intended.

I would think they would make it where monster models load FIRST, then other players. Quite honestly, the monsters have higher priority than random people/low levels. This would fix alot of problems with those fates.

What's the chances there engine isn't capable of doing this, lol.

But Agree that Boss > Party > Party Pets > other people would be the best solution. (it will still be a zerg at the end of the day though)

I wish this game had open world HNM ; ; I agree with OP though, these FATES need to be fixed >.<

This game does have phasing actually, when you do certain quests NPC and objects pop that others can't see, that is phasing, granted its very small scale but if the engine is capable it shouldn't be an issue.

Had to read this twice to see what you wanted, instance is not open world content bro, though it would be nice if there was a way to resolve this in a clean fashion, but for now, target priority is the only thing that can help the situation, no matter how messy the situation is.

Because that's an obvious solution to the 500+ people attacking a single mob, STILL making it lag, and STILL making the servers crash.. right? Right?

i must say FATE grinding kind of ruins the servers.
they should be instance and max numbers of people can enter.
was doing FATES today and had to walk 10 feet from FATE boss to even see him and for every step i took some people disappeared other appeared.

clearly to many people in one place. and i tink FATE grinding kind of ruins the game as it is now.
i cant walk normally inside a city were they gind fates and camp and once they move the road to that place have major lagg spikes for me.

There is a difference between client side phasing and multi dimensional phasing, what people want is multi dimensional, what we have seen so far, is client side.

How can it be client side ? if the NPC doesn't exist on the server how can you interact with it ?

I think you have it back to front, what WoW does is more client side as it changes the zone which is only a graphical thing, it also has server side phasing with NPC's though and ARR already does this.

Technically... Every zone in the game is an instance, or you wouldn't be loading into them when you zone... There is no such thing as open world content, it's an illusion.
