I loved this in FFXI, is there any word that it's coming to FFXIV?
Me too! I absolutely loved running around handing in Yagudo Necklaces to an NPC for several days straight!
OMG could fame-grinds BE any more fun!!!!?
I loved it. Please do it again
Not a thing i would inplemented soon.I hate reputations.
too bad a lot of useful thing were binded to reputation, so in a way were mandatoryQuote:
Yeah, it was great wasn't it? Also I loved that I had a choice to do them or not.
I liked the Fame system in FF11 where you was recognized from special npc with different quotes depending of your fame around that city or place. This time it could work with several npcs like guildleve givers (special guildleves if reputation is high and also special rewards) and other important npcs (also guards in the cities.. they could salute you). Shops and Repair npcs could give you a discount too. So as some special quests or missions could be available only if you are very famous. It would be a nice addition imo.
I was just talking to a good friend of mine about this - he isn't really interested in doing any of the side quests but I have been working on them city-state to city-state. I described how it worked in FFXI and wondered if down the road this would lead to fame/reputation paths. I kinda hope so as long as it led to a reason for it (like accessing certain other special quests and we all remember the Avatars).
I'd like it, but don't make it so you pretty much have to grind trade-in quests to max it out within a couple hours. Make doing a variety of quests actually viable. They didn't pull this off very well in FFXI.
They already do have this, to some extent, via faction standing related with guildleves. Though, they should definitely expand upon it somehow
If the devs. were to implement it for something completely optional I wouldn't have a problem. Thing is if it's going be like FFXI it was kinda mandatory for most people, especially SMNs. I'd rather have a chain of quests that lead to the cool reward. It's more fun than handing out cabbage to the old man in Selbina to open Trail by Ice, imo.
It wasn't painful in FFXI, only was if you decided to skip quests and the missions, because:
1. You get fame for doing all unique quests
2. You get fame for doing missions, and a boost of fame for hitting rank 10
3. There are repeatable ones where you can make small fame -and- decent money.
4. Abyssea fame makes you a -shit ton- of money because you can convert curor into armor which you can then vendor a whole set for a good 100k+
Fame is a good thing because it pushes you to do quests, but these days gamers only care to level through quests.
It may sound like a stupid question, but are we just assuming that there is no fame system right now or has it been stated?
I mean, I realize that i if there is fame at the moment, it does not matter, but there is a possibility that it is recorded somewhere for later purposes. And in a sense, I feel that the sidequests related to the grand companies will be sequential so there is a certain form of ''fame building'' here.
I think a fame system is necessary to make you feel like you contribute to the world, because all those sidequests taken individually do not give a strong feeling of accomplishment. If more fame = more challenging and more rewarding quests available, I'm all for it.
In XI it was only a pain for those who wanted to shortcut to the important rewards right as they started playing. I hope the devs will look into this question.
There's no visible fame system in XIV currently as there aren't a slew of quests or NPCs that has an obvious "you need x fame level to get my quest/info" yet.
Isn't this essentially what the guild marks system provides? The more you've done for that guild, the more of their stuffs you have access to.
Come to think of it, it would be really nice to have something to progress other than 'more ranks' or 'more gil'.
To my knowledge there isn't any form of fame in this game. But I say the fame quests should be optional so the people that don't want to do them don't have to. Just have it where the people that want to do the fame quests, get a little extra money, more challenging quests as you progress in fame, some some unique items(nothing too powerful), and other miscellaneous things that won't keep people from progressing in the story or game.
Agreed. But I would still like to have distinctive rewards for completing such quests, even if they are not gamebreakers.
For example, for some reason, the only faction points I have spent were used to obtain rank 1 onion gear, but I like the way it looks and the fact that there is no other way to obtain it than completing the said levequests. Plus it's a decent gear for pretty much every class until rank 10.
Can one of the Community Reps look into this? Please? Thank you in advance.
Added dev tag.
Fame system V2 would be nice based on number of unique quests and not sheer number of spammed quests.
Yag tag farming wasn't fun. Just stall tactics and weedout.
I was actually shocked this game didn't have a reputation mechanic of sorts at release based on one of their early descriptions of the adventurer
Para-phased: Adventurers are new to this realm seeking out the bounties that await them in Eorzea. (Basically we are all from a different continent on Hydaelyn and want fame and fortune)
We have the fortune (so much in fact that gil is practically useless) so where is the fame?
I would like to see fame added to the game.
After checking with Yoshida about some kind of fame/reputation system making an appearance, it seems like they are looking into this type of feature.
More bars to level up is good. Gives us something to do, lol.
Thanks Bay!
Yeah, thanks once again Bayohne, we really appreciate all of these comments you're making!!
EDIT: Good to see I'm not the only one stalking the Dev tracker, Nuru :P
Lol! I stalk the Dev Trackers.. I just dont post reguarding it :P, because usually everyone beats me too it :P
As for Bayohne Awesome job keeping us up to date Im always looking forward to you and the rest of the Dev Trackers' Responses Thank you! It gives me more to look forward to as the days push forward!
Please please please give any upcoming fame system a purpose other than just NPCs recognizing us. The reason the fame system worked so well in FFXI, was because it opened up quest lines which often rewarded players with critical items that could not be obtained any other way. We got maps, or scrolls, or the ability to unlock advanced classes.
I don't want to log in after implementation and just have an extra NPC chat line that shows they know who I am, or what I've recently accomplished. There's no substance to a feature like that.
Oh, and bring back titles already! That was fame for player to player interactions.
Giant Marlboro strikes again! Thanks tons for your support Bay!
I agree completely with this.
Fame served a great purpose in XI in that it allowed players to get a general 'feel' of their progress in a given city. It also was really cool that as your fame increased, people trusted and respected you more and gave you more involved and more important quests to take on.
I also agree with others who noted that they should be one-time quests, not repeatable ones like in XI where you could just turn in ore in Bastok, the grass in Selbina or those musical instruments in Windurst. That really undermined the point of the system and seemed very implausible. You're going to "emerge as a hero" to an entire nation because you brought one guy a ton of grass for his sheep? Really?
Reputation should matter, and so should earning it.
Thanks so much for all this rain of infos today.. Bayohne unleashed . :D
They need to add a Troll tracker, because people certainly love feeding them. :P
Anyways, I can't wait to see how fame works! What the rewards will be, etc. :3
