I realize patches take time but the stuff missing in game right now is stuff that frankly should have been in at launch. Now that you've seemingly stabilized the servers it seems strange we're going to be waiting another 2 months for the much needed quality of life changes and actual end-game content.

I always chuckle when I hear them say "Support". It's kinda like telling a one night stand "Sure I will call you" lol

i think the 2.1 will come sooner, he have told it while the 8th live letter, the 2.1 will be there sooner than player can expect it.

Take into consideration everything this installment of the final fantasy series has gone through up to this point. I feel way to many people neglect to account for any of that. To do justice to exactly whats gone on to date and then explain to you the reasons he has given for his decisions would probably be a waste of time. I have been following this game from 1.0 beta to now and all I can say is I think things are great for now. Granted, they could have shut down the game for another 2 years just to install all the systems they wanted but by far what we have now is hand over fist more than what 1.0 came out with. We at least have a good idea of what direction its headed and things we can expect/look forward to.

Right now the game is playable and incredibly fun. Why should they have held back release (aside from unforseen overloading of servers due to popularity, which is a good thing btw) for another 2 years just to add fluff?

Let's get the base game straightened out first, shall we? :)

There really isn't, I'm running out of content already, 50 alchemy, 50 cooking, 50 fishing,50 scholar and relic all done. Only have coil left to do. So I basically afk and play wonderful 101 while I wait for people to log on, so fun...

People who claim there is heaps to do tend to play an hour or two a day. If that's your bag, I applaud you. I tend to play for 4-5 hours a day after work and that sort of play schedule seems too heavy.

Nothing about my OP was intended as "whine" - it just seems strange we are waiting around for a patch that SE claim is already done.

Honestly, im incredibly bored at end-game. Level 50 MRD, and I think, by now, this whole "you rushed to 50" thing is a moot point.

Literally, I don't do anything because I don't find anything enjoyable. Either I can grind AK (so damn boring) or I can level a gathering class to level a crafting class. It's just meh to me. If they revamped the dungeons where it wasn't such a grind I would probably do them but for the amount of time it takes to clear AK (roughly an hour) it feels too much like a grind.

At this rate, I don't think I will sub considering there won't be anything for me to do until next patch which is in November.

It's not coming sooner as much as people want it to.

Stop playing the game. Don't subscribe. Pretend the game comes out in November.

I think it's amazing game to start with. It's got an amazing foundation, and content every 3 months is plenty.

New content isn't really a concern of mine yet.

There's still SO many core game issues that really need to be addressed. A lot of things that don't feel very "polished" yet. The network code specifically still could use a lot of work. An update frequency of 0.3 seconds is still much too long.

I do look forward to a barbershop though ...

If you literally don't find anything enjoyable, why are you even waiting for November? Why haven't you uninstalled and tossed this game from memory yet?

Judging by OPs armory profile, he has plenty to do still.

I've played a long list of MMOs, most of which at launch. The first YEAR is basically beta if that's how you feel. No MMO launches well. I think the .3 tick rate was a bad decision and needs to be changed but everything else is ahead of most MMO launches, content included. Everyone compares MMOs at launch to 10 years worth of content of any other big MMO. It takes time....so what ev.

Leveling is super boring, the only fun part of the game is at end game, and the end game isn't enough to sustain players for 3-4 months unless you enjoy sitting around doing nothing for hours waiting for your group to log on to do coil. That isn't fun for me, though. In FFXI I could craft, fish, farm, run BCNM's, solo/duo/trio sky pops, solo/duo/trio sea pops, farm zeni with 2-3 people, farm VWNM pops with 2-3 people, leveling other classes was actually enjoyable, I could mine, I could do so much.


Crafting in this? 1-50 in a day, 3 tops, gathering? Shards are the most money/hour as a 50 miner/botanist, which you can do at level1, there's little to no use of gil and "farming" consists of soulbinding gear and turning it into materia. Which is ok and something to do I guess, but gil doesn't allow me to progress my character in any way, only coil gear does. Fishing takes 2 days to cap at 50, 4 tops. It's just too quick/easy to get everything done in this game. Leveling a craft to cap should take you months and millions of gil + farming to cap it, it should be an accomplishment, not something I can knock out in a weekend. Relics should take a better part of a year, if not longer, to finish, not a SINGLE DAY. I started my relic and finished it in the SAME DAY, never having done garuda/titan with my group before, we still downed them both. There's almost no use of any crafted gear except some 2 star pieces at 50 craft, which takes dungeon runs to make anyways. If I'm capped on darklight gear, and have my 300 tokens for the week, I literally have nothing to do besides afk until my group is on to run coil - the same as every other RAID MMO. That isn't fun.

I can't just spam coil all day, I need 7 other players I play with to log on all at the same time with different playtimes, so at most you can do coil a few times a week for 4-5 hours or something, in base case scenarios. Am I supposed to afk in town and play other games while I wait to do the only content I have left in the game? That isn't fun, I should have tons of solo/duo/trio content I can knock out while waiting to do raid content, like FFXI did.

I honestly doubt you guys all have Coils on farm ... so there's something to do ! (Get to 50, gear up for it, clear required content etc...)

I hope it does take 2 months. I parked my BLM at 30 and am working on my crafting/gathering roles. I'd like to get them leveled before the next patch for sure.

Actually, I disagree. I have been consuming all my free time with this game(I really need to stop, but instead I am trying to convince others to join). I spend on average 2 hours every morning, and 5-6 hours every night. Not counting weekends which... Well you can guess. And I have yet to hit 50 on anything yet because I am not grinding for exp. That seems key. I am not saying you are wrong for playing the way you do, but that you honestly think someone clearly isn't playing as much because they aren't where you are, or have a different opinion, seems a bit naive to me.

If you have 300K concurrent players at peak time, yet only 5% of them are end game, do you really think the other 95% are simply playing that much less than you and therefore don't matter?

I think that SE is targeting the majority with their timeline, which makes a lot of sense. Prioritize work on overall quality of life for the majority, over adding more content for the minority, that might introduce more issues for everyone else anyway. Anyway! Just my thoughts. :)

Are you afking in town? You have to basically be doing nothing in the game to not gain exp, no story, no dungeons, no fates, no quests, no leves, basically AFKing. I don't understand.

I fail to understand where you think she's not getting any exp at all. Just because she's not grinding for exp doesn't mean that she's getting 0. It just means that's not where her emphasis is. There are some times when I play when I want to level and I go around doing quests, dungeons, or whatever to get the exp. There will be other times that I either help my friends or I do other stuff besides leveling and while I still get some exp, it's barely enough to move my bar by much. I'm sure if I devoted all of the time to exp only since the game started I would be 50 as well.

Apparently, many forget what vanilla WoW was like or vanilla EQ1 for that matter. Sure, they have a lot more to do, but they just pulled off a first in the mmo gaming industry-reshaping and relaunching a horrible game into a game of beauty and serious potential. Granted, us locusts will get bored before 2.1, but isn't that like always?

My problem with leveling is not how long it takes, it's that (on your other jobs after your first) there's one method that is FAR more efficient than any other (FATE grinding) for exp. They either need to nerf FATE exp a bit or buff dungeons and/or battlecraft leves.

Crafting leves can make leveling a craft very quick but it takes a while to accumulate new allowances so you can zerg a craft if you want but if you want to level the others that way you'll need to save up more allowances and you'll want to not use any for DoW/DoM (which you don't anyway due to how OP FATES are atm). The problem isn't how long it takes to level a craft it's that some crafts (like alchemy potions and cooking overall) are barely useful at all and I think they REALLY need to fix this.

Better part of a year for your relic? Maybe for relic on ALL your jobs but on ONE JOB? No.jpg
I can agree that other than the skill check that is Titan the steps to get a relic are sort of underwhelming but making it a huge grind is really no more fun imo. Personally I wish that they'd had some interesting solo challenges or (if it would've been in at launch) require you to do some stuff in Crystal Tower.
