Black Mage ... seriously guys

Ok guys what happened did u really drift so far away from FF11 .. from level 1-40 my spells are the exact same Red and blue ball of light. then 10 levels from cap I get a Enormous change in spell graphic. And really black mage only difference is a single spell I almost NEVER use How about Meteor or a channeled spell or Something anything different Anything and Seriously the same looking robes the entire dam game unless I get a pair from a dungeon. How cheap did you guys go on funding your programmers no spell changes in graphics or changes in gear look or black mage only gear. Stop being so cheap go hire some Tech guys and programmers....

I have to start by saying that I have enjoyed my time spent as THM/BLM, that said, I must say that I agree with you when it comes to wishing there was a little more variety and class progression as I got to higher levels. When it comes right down to it most of us are simply alternating blue/red as necessary to balance damage with mana regen and throwing in thunder and other skills as necessary.

I do feel like they could have done much more with the BLM aspect of this particular DPS including spells centered around meteor, gravity spells, and demi spells (I am sure there are others I am missing). My guess would be that maybe they plan to add some of these with future expansions of the level caps? only time will tell.

Just wait until you realize just about every one of the BLM specific spells are situational at best.

Its just swaping red.../blue red.../blue red.../blue hit 40 big red.../big blue.... big red.../big blue.... ... they gota do something about it.

as a matter of fact i like it.

I'm confused how "Tech" guys and programmers are responsible for spell visuals.

Explain?

Artists design how the game looks. Storyboarders and script writers design the theme. Programmers put all the pieces together to make it a functioning game.

Level 3 limit break is Meteor. And it's massive and looks amazing.. your whole group will agree it's just about the coolest thing since.. ever. Just sayin.

But no, in all seriousness, I'm pretty thrilled with the BLM playstyle and spell graphics. Spam Fire, looks cool.. little fiery explosion.. Firestarter proc = huge massive explosion (fire III).. transition to regen with pretty much encasing your target in a big block of ice (Blizzard III). It's all pretty cool looking. Thunder III looks cool as hell too. I can't complain at all about the BLM spell effects.

Yes, I will agree the rotation is simple.. red (repeat until OOM), blue, lightning, red (repeat until OOM).. but it looks really good. You can't deny that. Visually, seeing BLM's in a raid.. is just breathtaking if you care about that stuff. Compared to most other MMO's (I never played FFXI).. it's just amazing.

Last I checked this isn't FFXI. And I like how the new BLM plays.

I like Black Mage, there's actually spell detail unlike most MMos where it's just a tiny spark that flys across the screen and does a poof of smoke. No, You guys get awesome fiery explosions and giant icicles that look extremely painful. Oh.. and that lightning... o-o'

Could be worse. Could be playing a mage in WoW and see the same of only one general color/spell graphic for an entire tier of raiding. Playing a THM was interesting comparatively speaking.

Most mind numbing class in the game.

At least you get to use different spells...I remember my brother watching me raid on my mage in WoW once: "Wait, so all you have to do is hit the 1 key?" (Frostbolt)

As a game artist, I'm appalled by your last sentence OP. I'm just gonna leave now

how can u like it It is missing everything spells to chose from differences in combat hell I don't even use any of the extra spells at all that don't affect enough to matter... have u played any other mmos before..

that requires a Team LB and it can only be used by one member ....

adding Swift flare into your rotation every 60 seconds changes up the monotony.

for reference my rotation is like this (with swiftcast up)

Blizz 3
Thunder 2 or 3 (whatever i feel like)
Fire 3
Fire 1 ( using FS procs, and TC procs, Repeat until 500 mp)
Swiftcast
Flare
Transpose
(repeat from the top)

if you really want to get fancy, blizz 3 -> 50% reduced cast time fire 3 -> 50% reduced cast time Flare -> convert -> Swift Flare

I Dunno I am 50 now and my toon used the same looking 2 robed until I obtained the official black mage gear at 45-50 and still spamming the same exactly look spells from fuckin level 1 and I cant sub class all the ability's I want from a second class .... that makes it less desirable.

Personally I don't know why they swapped our cross class skills with arcanist I want pugilist back. *gazes at internal release*

I actually love being a BLM, though it does get repetitive....I tried a few other classes and at least it's less repetitive than Archer...my god!

Really the only thing I wish is that we could have a few more armor/weapon options. Everything looks the same- just a higher level! How about a few different staffs to choose from rather than a select few that you keep for 5-10 levels?

I get that this isn't XI, but XI did have the opportunity to choose from a few different looks and weapons. Oh well...

The game definitely need more armor options. At 50 every black mage looks the same, same goes for any other class though. Kind of lame and boring.

What it needs is vanity slots which is in the works afaik.
In terms of spells the spells look amazing but they are very repetitive. Some more variations would be nice and to make our utility spells a bit less situational.

Meteor is not fun due to the fact that you don't earn it. It does not feel like its yours by right. It's just a spell that the whole party has, just that I am the one who has to waste time casting it.

To be quite honest, why are you crying?

Go roll a Scholar. Only decent looking thing you MAY get is your grimoire at low levels (until 45+). Every other class can obtain some level of decent looking gear. So suck it up or re-roll another class.
