cooooooool story bro
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/9220
So 1.18 is coming in June and it's going to be huge! I can't wait, I was planning on quitting FFXI around that time.
tl;dr
wait longer.
New Quest hubs with more details. Hopefully they remake the old ones too. The new ones look more lively.
And yay for battle update, but boo for it not being till after I'm already back at work from my surgery on may 26th.
Camps are looking pretty good, will add more of a realistic touch to the environment.
So with this Im going to assume the dungeon will be going in 1.18, along with alot of other stuff
and 1.17b will be a may update with filler to get us to it
cant wait for more info
7th letter = :(
9th letter = :D
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!
I wonder what the crazy synthesis translations he was talking about are?
Quests hubs and low level dungeons? The more and more they do, the more I lose hope for this game. Seems they ARE going to the direction of WOW clone, I'll just have to wait and see. Low level dungeons and quest hubs is not something this game needed at all, it only needed these things if they wanted it to be a WOW clone -_-
I look forward to the battle changes, but now I'm more scared than ever for this games future, sigh.
Instead of stupid copy/paste "dungeons" from WOW they could've added a new chain of missions(or deleted old ones and added these) that are group based and make us explore muytuy, cassie, mistbeard cove, copperbell mines, etc etc. If you've actually been to the higher level dungeons you'd see how they're actually really cool and look awesome deeper in. They also could've made them bigger, and made the missions have us fight to something that would pop a NM/multiple nms,(or BCNM doors) and have a story behind it with cutscenes. The fights could've been EXTREMELY CHALLENGING as well, COP difficulty. Would've been more FF like and just as good, have the missions also give rewards or something, maybe even unique crafting mats to make unique armor, maybe special skills only available if you complete the missions, idk.
i noticed the gridania forest same look <.<
maybe wrong traduction when we speek about copy/paste world?
Lovin' those Quest Hub areas. They seem much livelier than anything else we've seen. They don't look copy+pasted. Looks great! Thanks for finding this and posting it
Earliest at mid-June? I will be way into summer school already.... wth D:
I plan on hearing battle plans soon like he stated
Seems things at SE are still moving at a glacially slow pace. Yeah Shiyo, I sympathize. In that gamestop video someone posted earlier the reviewer ripped on a number of things, none of which was dungeons or quest hubs. How long is it going to take before we get a functioning UI? 1 year after release? Sigh...
people wanted content and now we're getting content. just because we're getting quest hubs/side quests doesn't mean we're not getting storyline missions. we're getting grand companies and the first of the dungeons in mid may so thats something to look foward to
The more and more you bitch and moan, the more I lose hope for humanity -_- You seriously seem to complain about next to everything in this game. Would it not do your health good to move on to another game or take a break? FFFFFFFF >_>
Moving on, Im excited about this patch! seems like so much is being crammed into it! Can not wait for r50 dungeons to hit, I wanna play my CON again :D
Latency issues =/= non functioning.

There's a difference between efficiency and not working at all, and the UI can be better optimized as long as they decide to keep it server side.Quote:

Elexia, can you link me to the interview please?
So battle system is going in first what about class system or that no longer happening o.o
He only talks about a few things in his letters compared to the patch notes. If we get UI changes we probably won't know until patch day.
They're working on that too. Did you just forget about the last letter and the interview?
Here's a quote from the core interview:
They're working on both. He's just mentioning the newest stuff.Quote:
In the latest letter from the producer, there's something marked as Instanced PvE content (Dungeon/raids). A lot of players are veterans of Final Fantasy XI so immediately thought of content like Dynamis, Limbus or Assault - Can you go into detail on what type of content we can look forward to in this regard?
It would be tough to say which it will be closer to, but if you had to say one, it will probably be similar to dungeons in other MMOs. But right now because we're working on the changes to the battle system at the same time, we're going to make something that can follow the progression--the evolution--of the battle system. Those instances will change over time as well.
Because a lot of this stuff is going to be high-level, end content, we want to make sure that the battles all have situations where you have to plan out the battle, have the tactics to defeat it--not only defeat it, but pop it as well. It's something that will be the high end, the hardcore content.

There's a Chocobo in the Ul'dah camp.
HOPE.
O.o i guess no one knows is 1.18 only battle system? what about the new class system? can you really add a battle system without the new class system?
Thanks...
Yeah, horrible feeling. Why did they feel we needed QUEST HUBS and low level dungeons? How about MISSIONS, RSE, and AF quests that make us team up to get gear in the ALREADY CREATED dungeons that exist in the game? Non-instanced dungeons and non-instanced content. Much more enjoyable, different, unique, fun, and final fantasy like. It worked in FF11, no one ever complained there was "no content", because there was tons of stuff to do while leveling up. AF quests, RSE quests, genkei's, missions, farming, crafting, low level NMs, etc.
I am sorta excited to read this and extremely worried as well.
Quest hubs could be decent, they could even be part of chain quest like we wanted them to be back at the first release of side-quest. The worry is that they are going to become the main focus of things, and the fact we have no idea how they will work I fear they will cave into the people demanding solo effective level progression from quest completion which will destroy the grouping in the game.
Dungeons are great, the fact that they are talking about them dealing with companys which are large scale units for each city, I fear this will turn into a Walk of Echos type thing where a bunch of random people will just get together and kill things which will be detrimental for player run guilds.
I can't judge this news without more info, they defiantly are taking a page from WoW with the quest hubs and I hope they do not take a page from the questing of WoW, if it does this game is going to drive away alot of the active playerbase who does not want a solo quest mmo. I truly hope the dungeons are limited to a single group or a few allaince style groups, last thing I want is for the whole game to be a free for all like behest. Would be no way to do lotting organized, no way to build a guild, no way to not be screwed over by some asshat who is just lotting everything. I hope they at least look at FFXI and see what worked, this sorta sounds like WoE which failed horribly in XI.
All in all this update can pretty much take good steps to save the game, or completely destroy any community/guild aspect in this game. I will be paciently waiting on more info on this.
10.) If the current target claiming system were done away with, would you prefer for content such as dungeons and battle to be converted into instances as much as possible?
* "Instances" refer to those events and areas that can only be occupied by a single party, or certain characters, at once. This serves to prevent players from competing with one another for the same enemies, for example.

People complained they didn't listen so you can't blame them for listening now.
Xatsh, why do you think the dungeons are going to be like that and not instanced like WOW? I also agree, quest hubs spells out "SOLO BASED QUESTING TO LEVEL CAP", and just turns the game into one big single player MMO, big nono in my book.
