Pugilist/Monk Suffer Too Much When Soloing.

I know that ultimately what matters most is how well a class performs in a group/raid setting, but I have to say; soloing as a pugilist is pretty painful. With pretty much all our moves having positional requirements to do decent damage, when you fight an enemy that is always facing you, the damage is pitiful and fighting enemies becomes a chore. I tried making my chocobo a tank, but even without being on the sides or behind an enemy I still end up being the one taking damage.

I don't know if there's anything they can do at this point to make it different, but I have gotten MRD and LNC to level 35 and pug to level 35 and so far pug is much more difficult and time consuming. My pug gets out damaged by my mrd when fighting enemies by myself and it's kind of annoying/frustrating. Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there and vent a bit on how frustrating soloing with a pug/mnk is.

Yep, I get side positionals off about 80% of the time. Only irregularity is that some mobs seem to have a faster turning speed than others.

My level 50 PGL is from V1, I loved the playstyle then .. now I'm leveling a healer because PGL V2 sucks totally, I hate the mechanics now.

im currently lvling a monk (lvl 37) and yea positioning when solo can be frustating but its possible.the trick is to jump.face monster,jump and use a skill when you are on the back of the monster.it work most of the time with good timing.same for flank possition.trying to do position by just walking around monster isnt possible because monster follow your mouvement.by jumping,monster wont react fast enought.

for the fate,just aoe or focus left alone mobs.if your not able,join a grp.

Horrible in FATE till you get arms of the destroyer lol. I don't even remember how many times I've just ran to where mobs spawn, use it and everything is mine cause the animation for AoTD is so short no other classes can compare and it doesn't require targetting neither. Best bet though is to do FATE in party.

dont you still have to do something even in a group. I have no AoEs yet and blizzard2 makes sure I dont get any spare mobs.

Warrior 50 and Monk 50. My warrior hits like a monster truck solo while my monk hits like a wet noodle. The position bonus concept is great but monk skill shouldn't be rendered virtually useless if they are out of position for this very reason. Twin snakes becomes an auto attack if its out of position. Dragon kick, the level 50 monk skill suffers the same fate.

the devs should learn from Guild Wars 2 where attacking from side/behind works 100% here it just feels broken. looks like the monk was designed for partys

I haven't had issues attacking from side or behind since CBT you just have to practice it x.x

I have to say, I tried running through the enemy and then attacking and it definitely helps when soloing because snap punch and twin snakes does full damage a majority of the time. I had only tried strafing around the enemy and haven't tried that. With that said though, I have no idea how a ps3 player could do that because it requires you to quickly turn your character. In other words, while pc players may still be able to do full damage a majority of the time and have a much easier time killing enemies solo, people using a controller wouldn't be able to do it which is bad.

I'm a PS3 player and I'm the one who mentioned it. So what does that say? It's really easy to do on a controller.

Oh, don't worry. They suffer in 8-mans too. If you drop greased lightning, which you often have no control over, and happens all the time, your damage becomes piss poor. And you can only use perfect balance like, once every 3 minutes.

The only thing that helps monk soloing is haymaker, but compared to the 1.0 version it's not as good. No stun. And its on the GCD so you can't use it at a high frequency. A lot of people were saying this. Did they change it? No. Probably didn't even look at it.

I figured soon off that I'd have a higher chance of getting the bonus if I ran through the enemy between attacks. I'm having a problem though of "Untargeting" the intended target and having to press R(My target nearest target button) or tab to retarget the creature to continue attacking. This happens more often than not now and I don't know why it's happening. Is there an option in the menu that can fix this? Only happens when I play my pugilist.
