Farming Tomestones

What is the best method? I'm not talking speed runs or exploits. Just a legitmate way to gather tomestones for my Darklight gear. I just got my chest piece today after spending the past 2 days farming it 16 times between those 2 days in Amdapor Keep and I'm just hoping there is a better way that i'm missing because if I have to run amdapor keep another 16 times for one more piece of gear i'm gonna cry. ):

I appreciate advice you guys can offer.

TL;DR What is the best farming method?

With a good group you should be able to clear AK in less than 40 minutes for the 80 philos/40 myths, or CM a little quicker for 100 philos. That's what I've experienced anyway.

Sometimes I get groups that can clearly AK in 40-45 minutes but most of the players I get come in with lvl 44 GC weapons and trash takes a millenium to kill.

With a good group Castrum is a quicker source of philosophy stones than Amdapor with the trade-off of it not dropping any equipment or myth stones. It's just as mind-numbling boring as spamming Amdapor over and over again though.

If it's truly faster i'd rather do it.

I highly recommend you to do Castrum for Philosophy stones to get full DL set (gear + accessories) only Then start farm myths in AK because 80% of time if useing Duty Finder you will have to deal with new players , or elitist scum which 1000 times worse ; ; so DL set in possess is already big help . New players will take your time to complete run ( if they have good skills , and you will explain every boss ) or will cause wipe on any of 3 Dung bosses due unknowing what to do .

I'll try that out once the servers back up then. I really would like to get darklight ASAP.

Too many people are trying to farm AK with just AF gear. Farming Castrum for Philo and getting darklight gear makes it much easier. It's possible to beat with just AF gear, but it makes the boss fights a pain, especially the wall.

AK just wants people to have a ilvl55+ weapon.

AF is more then enough to survive the mechanics and a Darklight weapon from WP (or Ifrit weapon which is jsut as easy to get with AF+ilvl49 weapon) make Wall "tough" but completely doable.

I agree it's doable. For farming purposes, it's more realistic to have more than just AF. Groups that have lower gear tend to struggle on the bosses. Too many people try to be carried through there for the myth stones. They want to bypass the the darklight and go straight to AF2. I see it a lot running AK.

If you have a premate grp of like 6 guys (1tank,2heals, rest dds) you can also rush through praetorium. Much easier since you don't rely on the 2nd tank.
All the bosses are pretty easy with some good dds and you can kill them with just 6 guys.

They need to REALLY slow down praetorium and CM "speed runs." The jokers that spam for speed runs won't take anyone if their gear is below level 50 and that is unacceptable. How am I ever supposed to get these dungeons done if I can never get an invite due to these "elitists" that demand you have level 50 gear???

The fact that there are parties running these dungeons over and over so quickly really ruins my immersion. I know it's the same for the majority of other players too.

Use Duty Finder, normally when i use it i get normal groups that dont speed run.

To all of you who are complaining about "elitist scum" and speen runs, here's a tip. Don't expect to get in those parties. Do it like we did and find a group of new players and learn the content. Keep doing it until you have the gear to contribute to a faster run without being carried. Don't come here and complain about how people won't let you in their "elite" parties. To you speed runners, stop trying to PUG a speed run.

Speed runs exist because it's a massive grind. Most of us don't like grinding. We want to knock the content out so we can pass the Titan HM gear check. Carrying some new player around is an unnecessary and unwanted burden.

My group was able to clear AK in 36 minutes. That's faster than any CM run I've seen from a relative tome gain : time spent ratio. However, if you aren't getting instant queues with AK and you can get an instant queue with CM - then obviously that changes my answer. I prefer AK because you need those 300 ToMs each week.

The speed which people are progressing is WAY TOO FAST. the speed at which some people are clearing content is unhealthy and square really needs to limit these people's play time. Nobody should feel "left out" when playing a game with others, it's just unfair.

Friends have been spam running praetorium with a full pre-made using 1 tank, 1 heal, 6 dps. Average run time is somewhere between 18-22m, even with my super crappy brd in there and hella slow loading between cutscenes. Its very efficient for philosophy tomes. For mythi think garuda and Titan are probably more efficient than AK since they can be done 6-8 times an hour, granted that's if you're not DF.

Dude this is exactly my problem...
I know they are just trying to get the drops to update their gear, but at the same time, some folks are just going for the TOMES and want speed run. I wonder if there is a way for Duty Finder to pair up first timers with themselves and experienced players with others :)

You really sound like someone who is crying because you were picked last in gym class. The rate that other players are progressing are because of the time they are putting into the game. If you are not going to put that time into the game then don't complain because they have better gear. You just want things showed down because you don't want to put the time in as the other players That's what it comes down to.

They just need to limit everyone's playtime to 2 hours or so per day and most of the problems with the game would disappear. They could just set it to disable all rewards after 2 hours of play time, so no drops, exp, gil or ability to craft. Get it together SE or this game will be f2p in the next couple months!

You really sound like someone who is crying because you were picked last in gym class. The rate that other players are progressing are because of the time they are putting into the game. If you are not going to put that time into the game then don't complain because they have better gear. You just want things showed down because you don't want to put the time in as the other players That's what it comes down to.

Are you kidding me? What do you do in life if you don't mind me asking? Or better what kind of video game player are you? If you limit the time to play then you lose the game maybe you have never played an mmo before

I have played every mmo that has been released since UO in 1999. Games should be fun and it isn't fun at all when people are all using better gear than you only because they can play many hours a day due to being unemployed. This game will surely go under if something isn't done to bring players more in line with one another.

You can't be serious. Why does everyone have to be on the same leveling plane? You don't have to play with the speed runners and they don't have to play with you.

Your complaints are implying that you wish you were a top tier player but you don't have the time to invest to do it. That's quite possible, but that is your problem - not others. You are simply going to have to deal with that reality. This is why I put myself in a raiding linkshell with other people that work 40-50 hours a day, have a family, ect. We aren't at the top, but we progress quickly. Heck we ran the entire relic quest up to Titan HM yesterday.

I am employed working 40hrs a week when I'm in the office and up to 84hr when I'm at a job and I have still managed to get to level 50 and beat hm ifrit and garuda and only need titan to get my relic weapon. It has nothing to do with restricting other players but optimizing your own time I'm game

You are forced to play with anyone you don't want to and you aren't forced to do anything you don't want to. Probably one of the worst ideas I have seen on here, this idea alone would cause a mass exodus of people.

People don't need equal gear, as long as everyone has the minimum gear required I don't see the issue.

Doing some runs of WP to get some better green gear to fill in gaps before AK seems like a logical choice. You get 55 Philosophy for a clear + any greens that drop. After you're geared from there sufficiently you might have a DL piece of two and can move onto AK where you can farm both Myth and Phil stones. If you cap out on Myth, I don't know if it'd be worthwhile to farm Castrum or not, since it has 100 stones, but you get a lot of people trying to do it for story and it's not right to ask them to skip cutscenes.

Castratum is worth it. Many people speedrun it once they are myth capped
