Tired from bad latency in jp servers and I want to play with my friends on EU server
Wednesday/
Common sense?
Actually, it's a reasonable guess if you think transfers arrive at the same time as the resumption of digital sales (though it is a connection SE never made). ...and assuming SE decides that all went well on the servers this weekend, and the servers do seem fine after the last update, then digital sales resume again this week, per SE.
No such thing as eu server. Its all NA
Mid September goes on till the 25th in SE time..just sayin.
Yoshi stated that this weekend (Which is almost over) will be a monitoring period of logins/playtimes/ etc etc, after which the transfer service will be implemented

Actually Yoshi never stated transfers, he said digital sales. Maybe you misread the quote?
He no longer mentions a mid-September deadline, instead he says they hope to have an announcement on world transfer in the very near future.Quote:
YOSHI:
This weekend, we will be monitoring server stability, keeping a close eye on the number of simultaneous logins, instances, and use of the duty finder. If all goes well, we plan to resume digital sales for each region.
Yoshi's post is about five days old. An announcement on the commencing of world transfers hasn't happened yet, but according to Yoshi they are hoping to announce it in the very near future- or soon. The mid-Spetember deadline might still happen, but it isn't the current situation according to his post. So we have to sit tight for a while longer, and wait for the soon to come.Quote:

Though there is still some work to be done, we hope to bring you an announcement regarding the availability of World transfers in the very near future.
Before anyone accuses the above poster of lying. It was based on an interview at PAX done by Massively with Yoshi earlier this month: http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/09...expanding-fun/ Go to paragraph 11- the one by the pic of the choco.
The Mogstation & Lodestone say Mid-Sept. Yoshi made a post last week saying they hoped to have a announcement in the very near future. So it is a toss up as to when they might actually happen. Fingers crossed that it is this month and not in Nov/Dec.Quote:
Next up was a question about server transfers, and Yoshida said that they will be available within two to three months.
I have zero doubts that if they really wait 2 to 3 months to implement transfers, then entire friend groups will miss out on playing this game together. I have at least 2 friends that will simply give up and move on before then. I can't even begin to state the disappointment I'd feel if this were truly the case.
In my opinion, getting separated friends back together should be the #1 priority for Yoshi right now unless he wants a significant portion of his player base leaving this game with a bad opinion of it.
Bla bla bla. I have friends across four different servers and we have no problem waiting for tranfers. We figured we'd make the most out of it. We've even made some new friends who'll be transfering with us when the time comes. If someone quits we'll feel bad but it's a mutual understanding between us that we'll go on playing.
I just wish I knew. I'm finally able to reroll, and I just want to know if I should or simply wait for "very near future." It's very opinionated on what that means. For someone that's not been able to play with friends, a week or two I'd be worth waiting. A month or two, iud rather cut my losses and reroll.

For Worlds that remain crowded despite these measures, and for those players who have been unable to create characters on their desired Worlds due to congestion, we will be introducing a World transfer service. Please keep in mind, however, that if you choose to move to a highly populated World, you are more likely to encounter the login restrictions described above─choosing to transfer to a less-populated World may prove to be the best choice for your gameplay experience.
The development team is currently testing this service extensively to ensure that the transfer of character data will be safe and secure.
Though there is still some work to be done, we hope to bring you an announcement regarding the availability of World transfers in the very near future.
Don't know how you missed the announcement when you logged into the forums, but I'll help you out:

Key quote:
'we'll be resuming sales for both the Windows and PS3 version for North America and Europe today, and then for Japan tomorrow (9/18).'
As I said before, Yoshi never formally linked the resumption of sales with the world transfer service, and that is still in the 'soon' category.
Mog Station says beginning mid September, so hopefully it's available soon.Quote:
* World transfer service is scheduled to begin mid-September. An announcement will be made on The Lodestone at that time.
Aye, one reason I'm concerned. I would think it should have been announced either for the 11th or 18th since those two weeks are the middle of four. Like I said, I'm not trying to be demanding, just would like to know so I can start from scratch or keep putting time into my toon.
I agree. It is unacceptable to force you to not be able to create characters on servers and with no transfer option after this long... Especially when most people in this day and age know what a MMO is after WoW; MMO gamers are expecting the same caliber. You are basically shooting yourself in the foot for not opening up more servers from the start and not even letting people play with their friends, create characters, or transfer... it is just moronic moronic x 100. You just lost a TON of casual subscribers thanks to these careless errors. However, I bet they didn't even have the financial backing in the beginning till they proved enough players would play the game to increase the server load, etc. Like I can't help but rant about how much fail that is is in the opening of a hyped game, that was marketed to be version 2.0 of a failed game, and begging people to come back to try it... Horrible. The only saving grace for this game now is for the current, devoted players to be very happy about the game and convince others to play. SE's next shot in gaining more players honestly will not be till they can start putting out public advertisements for an expansion. They lost their first golden window of opportunity.
What's the problem with a reroll? Is your character or your friendship more important? If your frienship is more important then I would take the reroll rather than add to the hundreds of complaints.
Either way, my point is is that this happened on the release and was a long-term issue. If I was still in college and tried to get my non-MMO friends to play this game, there is no way in hell they would have played because they would not have been able to create characters or even buy the game. Like I said, you lose a ton of casual subscribers when the hype is so big on release like that. And to add on to that, everywhere where I live (Los Angeles) was sold out for physical copies of the game, and DIGITAL sales are suspended... yeah good luck getting more subscribers. Most people who don't usually play a game like this who gave it a chance have already moved on. Maybe now, it is much easier to get friends into the game, but the golden window of hype the game once had is gone.
Im still curious to see how much these transfers will cost. I personally think they should either make them really cheap or free to encourage people to spread out to these new servers that are basically empty at this point. I dont see tons of people flocking to pay 15 dollars to transfer when it was sorta SE's fault that we couldnt create characters on the same servers as our friends/family. Im all for them raising the price at a later time, like a month after they start transfers raising the cost. Just my opinion though so please dont rage at me for it :)
They already had a working transfer sysytem. They did transfers in Beta 3, so there is no reason that we should be waiting so long to be able to transfer now. I understand people that are on the servers they want to be on think other stuff is more important but to those of us cut off from our friends and our LS/FC this is the most important issue right now. The please be patient BS is getting really old really quick.
I think Meow's point was that the NA/EU servers are physically located in NA, so if you're under the impression you'll get a faster ping is flawed if you live in EU and think the server resides in EU.
Your point is true too. But one major reason for choosing a EU server if you live in EU is latency. And I think that is what the OPs complaint was to begin with. As I see it, the only reason to choose EU is time zone...
Probably during TGS...? <yes please>
Better pray that if/when they do offer world transfers that its free. It seems SE isn't capable of taking our money since me and THOUSANDS of others cant even pay for our subscriptions. I cant wait till the people with 30 days free have to start paying. I would love to see all the people that quit from that. Oh wait... that's right, its our banks fault according to them.
At this point I really don't care if they charge $50 for a transfer. This game is awful on a JP server. I play with the same 10 people when they're on(don't get me wrong, I like them but we have to sub in half a party through DF or more depending who is on). To say content is extremely boring/frustrating through DF is an understatement. I really just want to be on a NA server where I can actually communicate with people and make some friends to do stuff with.
Think you are talking about me, and I said it was a reasonable guess if, and only if, transfers came at the same time as resumed digital sales as SE hinted very strongly about when the later would be resumed. I strongly think the two should have been paired, but obviously SE had other plans, perhaps with some kinks still needing to be worked out in their transfer system. I do note that Wednesday did indeed turn out to be the day that digital sales were turned back on.
Ten days until October, hopefully the announcement will come this weekend or early next week. If not, then perhaps the 2-3 month timeline on the Massively interview was correct. I hope not. I don't mind paying for a transfer, although waiting for it is a pain, with all the hiccups they have had since launch it is understandable. Frustrating but understandable.
That said, an update with more info on a timeline would be welcomed.
Yet, my payment when through just fine. /shrug
Hehehe,
Well, mid-september. They don't tell which year. Soooo, it could be mid-september 2014, 2015, who knows?Quote:
