Calls (<call>) and chimes for tellsthey le, invites, emotes and mentions...

I, for one, always thought the party calls, and the sound alerts or notifications for incoming chat-log events in FFXI were two of its most civilized features. It was a surprise to find XIV lacked all of those.

Would anybody else care to see (well, hear :) ) chatlog alerts and alarms, plus battle sounds (<calls>) enabled in FFXIV?

If optional, sure :)

I would! I know some hated it, ofc with the option to mute but I do prefer it.

If possible with some anti battle regiment macro tho haha, I dont want to hear it all the time. Just like if someone is AFK!

i wouldnt mind seeing them back.

I need calls, just for my friends in game sometimes my real life friend goes AFK all the time when we're camping those mid level nms, i would love to spam calls at him.

Honestly i'd like calls to return. The other day we were waiting for someone to come back from being afk, an NM spawned, and we were desperately waving all over the place to get em to return.

I wouldn't mind as long as they add some good tone ones. Some were just over the top annoying and always seemed to be used by most.

The annoying calls should always be used for afk people who didn't respond to less annoying calls right away.

I miss <call1>

Unless they put a timer on it so they can't be spammed, heck no.

I'm all for it coming back. I never had a problem with it before.

We do have one of those. I use it all the time. It's labeled /cheer. = )

Not exactly useful for everyone, my cheer doesn't have the "hahaha, wooooooooo!" Behind it. Must not be a ric flair fan.

They should bring calls back, though perhaps a different set, at least change call 1 into more of a soccer whistle(shorter tweet)

I love my annoying /p macros.

I think calls would be nice, as long as they can't be used in macros. There's nothing more annoying than <call> just for the sake of <call>.

I think they're useful to get someone's attention (who's maybe AFK or fell asleep), but I don't need to be notified every time you are about to use a WS.

Ayerc, I can understand your feelings about this topic, since apparently you have had to deal extensively with players who abused <call> commands. But I don't think we should allow fools take away one of the most valuable tools a game interface can provide. There are many legitimate uses for calls, both in combat and outside of it; getting the attention of temporarily distracted players is just one of them.

Here's one of many examples that come into my head:

I have conferred about this with several members of my LS and we agreed that calls would be great help for healers to notify the party, for instance, when buffs are going to be cast... The accelerated pace of combat in this game makes everybody hyperactive, and my CON's buffs always seem to miss two or three people, who can't sit still before attacking a new mob. If this bothers me now, I wonder how much more so it will, when difficulty and complexity of combat are increased, and I see myself under pressure to heal a bunch of unbuffed mêlée fighters.
