Losing leves on D/C

I don't know about you guys but if when the game goes subscription and disconnections still fail leves I will be unsubscribing to the game.

Content that is on a 36 hour timer is inexcusable that will fail cause of something as random as an disconnect. No excuse Square-Enix can make for it will make this right.

I agree, this is annoying problem to have. Disconnects happen. When they do player shouldn't be penalized. I keep losing leve's because of my stupid windows button. Its right in the middle of CTRL and ALT! Think I might just pop it off.

They need to have it so that when you start a leve, a time stamp is recorded (server time) and a expiry is set (total time of leve). Then if the player re-logs on he can still finish his leve.

the problem is if you are in a party the leve continues even if you d/c. How would you deal with that? Only freeze time when every single person in a leve disconnects?

That's a nice idea. The only thing they cannot allow is DCing not causing leve failing...or people would start forcing DC to abuse this system. But having the timer continue running is indeed a nice idea...would be just like the way you retrieve unclaimed rewards...but you retrieving the full leve that already started...but this also could only be done while solo since in party it continues.

Just yesterday, I had JUST linked up a leve with my husband, got Favor, ran 10 steps from camp and DC'd due to server error. Didn't even get to kill 1 monster, and lost my potential to get guild marks from the quest. There has to be a better way!

I feel like there are solutions to this problem that wouldn't be too hard to implement.

Solo:
The game can simply take a snapshot of your leve progress at the time of DC. Completion (How many mob/items you have killed/collected), Gaurdian's Favor (Did you active it for this quest?), Time Remaining, Difficulty. When you log back on, you can approach the crystal to resume the quest *where you left off*. You may not add party members when a quest is in-progress. Who cares if people use it as a "pause button" so they can answer the phone/wc/go to the store? They are not gaining anything. They still have the same amount of time left to complete the quest as before.

Party:
When a party member DC's, the party leader could be prompted with a dialog box: "A party member has disconnected: [Suspend Leve] [Continue Leve]". If the leader chooses to suspend the leve, the game would take a snapshot, recording the party members, who was leve-linked, guardian favors, completion, time remaining, etc., and remaining monsters in the environment related to the leve would dissappear as if the leve had been canceled/completed. This option would be if the leader wanted to give a chance for the D/C'd member to return and complete the leve together. When they reconnected, the PT leader could invite the player and choose to continue, at which time the game could check to make sure all party members are present and resume the leve with any potential links intact.

If any member leaves the party or the party leader chooses to disband the group while the leve-quest was suspended, all party member involved will be able to resume the suspended leve solo from the crystal.

The party leader could also choose to continue the leve right away, at which point the D/C'd member could log back in and resume the quest from the crystal solo when he logs back in. Although the member would lose any potential link-bonus, he could still get the rewards for finishing the quest.

Elective Suspension:
If people are genuinely unhappy about the ability for people to force-DC to "pause" a leave, perhaps SE could simply add the a button to suspend a leve-quest even during normal play. This would allow for untimely bathroom breaks, emergencies, and other real-life intrusions that may normally render a levequest wasted. It would work the same as if a member D/C'd, and if an individual member chose to leave the party and continue the quest solo at the crystal, they could.

Closing:
While these suggestions may still seem sub-optimal, they provide the opportunity to complete a levequest after D/C with little to no potential for abuse. It does not allow anyone to kill extra monsters, restart a quest, or gain extra time. I GUESS someone could pause the quest, regen health to full, and continue, but maybe there are solutions to this problem too.

I whish i knew that before i had to relogg cos i didnt get any xp from the leve mobs and my character acted up all weird...i was so looking forward to that leve reward...;_;

+1 to this post. Sort of off topic but similar issue with crafting, DC equals instant botch. Scary stuff when your crafting a NM item and you red bar.....

While it is certainly annoying, the implemented system is probably the best. You do fail the leve, but you can always try again on the next reset and attempt to complete the leve for the same rewards. You do not essentially lose anything at all from being dropped from your leve except for the fact that you lose some time by having to complete the leve again.

Pausing leves will never be implemented, I could go into detail if you wanted, but it's a very terrible thing once it's in the game; and, it would need some seriously gimmicky additions to make it work with existing and future content.

Right now, you are free to attempt and complete/fail missions as many times as possible with a 36hr limit to each try. The biggest inconvenience is how if you are actually attempting to succeed, you will have to try again at another time. There is no lost SP ( In fact if you are trying to succeed you will have either lost no SP or in fact actually gained SP from attempting again) and no lost rewards so long as you succeed the 2nd time.

The only alternative I see, would to have limited attempts, yet that would be abused. Fail and try for however many attempts to maximize SP for example.

So, don't plan on this changing any time. Not without a significant overhaul to the entire system at least.

That's not true, though. You do lose things by failing when you disconnect. You lose whatever aspect you spent, as well as any leve links the rest of your party has. As well, just by virtue of the leve failing before being complete, your SP/hour plummets (assuming it's a good leve). Failing Dunesfolk right after I aspect and get full links, but before I kill any of the mongrels = crap sp for that leve that day. It's not an sp gain in any way, shape, or form. Yes, I'm getting sp when I retry the leve the next reset, but that's sp I would've gotten anyway. The sp I was expecting from the failed attempt, though, is almost completely lost.

All that really needs to happen is for it to disconnect you faster (which is a separate issue, but still true) and let you rejoin with credit for aspect and links. There's really no need for a complicated pausing system; just have the timer keep ticking.
