Lack of quality content

Hey guys,

Is it just us, or is there a severe lack of quality content once you hit 50?

I'm not 50 just yet, but as a moderately hardcore player, I've started doing my research. It seems that grinding Amdapor Keep (4 man only, why? :confused::confused::confused:) is the only kind of end game content that SE has provided us.

It seems that "with a full group (1 tank, 1 healer, 2 dps) it takes upwards of 60 minutes waiting in the queue before you get to the dungeon because you need to reserve the instance. Afterwards you just kill the 3 bosses for FFXIV's equivalents of justice points."

All this for obscenely low (considering you need 1400 for 1 piece of gear) amount of 50 per run.

Getting in will cost you an hour, completing the dungeon (without exploits) will take you upwards of another hour. With the amount of tokens you receive upon completing, you'll be able to buy an upgrade every ~30th run. You'll probably die of old age, before completing your darklight set.

I'm all for tear-inducing hard content a la Anub Arak heroic, Lich King heroic, Ragnaros Heroic, etc... But this doesn't seem hard to me. Merely tedious. Or am I wrong?

What do you guys think? Do you think you'll enjoy this at 50? Are you enjoying this now? Do you think it will be possible to develop challenging (rather than tedious) fights, considering many players play with a joypad?

There are hm primals other dungeons and coil of bahamut. AK is hot topic coz of a "exploit". Now it is fixed ppl are whining. Best is to ignore forum whining.

I agree we could use more than 1 dungeon that provides us with ToM, as running that 1 dungeon over and over is quite tedious.

There are other dungeons though at lvl50, albeit not giving you ToM but only ToP, they are quite fun, at least i think.
Then there is Bahamuts labyrinth. I havent researched the matter myself, but it is ingame currently, no ? correct me if i´m wrong on that one.

I´d like to see 4-5 dungeons giving us our ToM for diversity, and maybe more fun Notorious monsters.

As for myself, i am currently enjoying content. As i can´t play a lot due to all that other stuff life offers i do it at my own pace with friends.

Absolutely. That said I don't blame them for exploiting the enmity-chains (even if I reported that issue myself on the bug forum). You basically need Darklight gear to progress right? AK is the only dungeon that gives these tokens. 30 runs per upgrade is extremely tedious, I'd probably have used the exploit myself in this case.

As for the HC Primals, I've read they're not hard at all. But those opinions came from hardcore WoW raiders, so I'd agree with you if you'd say that's an unfair comparison.

Good one, you managed to approach a flame thread from a slightly different angle! Did you know that you can play every class and you actually do need to level a second class to get any of the job skills? My suggestion is you play the game now, and as time goes by they will add new content. If you are bored...do something else.

have you maxed your rank with all 3 companys have you maxed your lvl on your chocobo companion and other job class cross abilities lvl a job and cathering class's to have a way to generate gil. these are just a few thing you can do. Once you hit 50

You're not 50 yet? *Sigh*

Lvl 41+ Dungeons all drop Philosophy Tomestone.

Mythology Tomestones is used for AF 2 or Relic +1, neither of which are necessary for Bahamut Coil. Did anyone even bother read on Bahamut Coil Discussion? One of the two group going deepest didn't even have full Darklight nor Relic +1.

Hi Huxer,

Did you read the posts? No one even mentioned the word bored.

As far as your advice goes: How could you advice me to level up a third class, when It's clear I'm talking about the lack of end game content, not the lack of content in general.

As far as leveling a third class goes: All ques-hubs have been used so, yeah... I don't enjoy grinding (repeating an action ad nauseum without context).

Everyone relax. I'm asking, therefore I lack the knowledge so yes, I'm ignorant in that aspect. What would you advice a newly dinged 50 to do then? (Please refrain from "level up your chocobo" and "rank up with all 3 companies" unless that's actually useful in end game content)

OP, you get darklight gear from tomes of philosophy and your AF2 from tomes of mythology. Yes the mythology tomes are only available in AK ATM but philosophy are also available from castrum, praetorium, wanderers palace, aurum vale, dhezemael darkhold and I can't remember where else, as I'm at work ATM...

You don't -have to- but it is still the most efficient way of doing so.

Starting with Stone Vigil every dungeon drops Philosopher Tomes. The problem? The amount you get from non-Amdapor dungeons is far less. For example Wanderer's Palace (The other level 50 dungeon) only drops 50. Amdapor drops 80 (AND 40 Mythology). The dungeons lower than Wanderer's Palace drop even less, the lower level the dungeon the lower the tome amount.

What I personally think (please note: think) is that the difference in tome quantity plus the 40 Myth warrants the complete disregard for any dungeon other than AK. Which subsequently shrinks the available (viable) content at 50.

Unless they need the weapon drop (or Relic weapon component) from Wanderer's Palace, no I would say that close to no static groups would run anything except Amdapor UNLESS they are running Castrum (8 man story dungeon) which drops 100 philosopher tomes but no mythology tomes. The reason is in a static group you can get 100x8 philosopher tomes in a very easy (And relatively quick 25-35 minutes approx) dungeon as opposed to Amdapor which is both a 4 man and longer now that speed runs have been fixed.

tldr: there is a coke bottleneck.

This is why I don't craft stuff that requires dungeon diving. It's also the only reason I was apathetic to the lower stats for crafted gear. I thought the purpose was to avoid dungeon diving. We will see if they fix it.

Both cast rum and praetorium drop 100 philosophy tomes per completion. Darklight is obtainable quite easily this way. AF2 can wait. Mix it up and enjoy!

Thanks for all the constructive replies guys! That's our goal in the end: Enjoying the run with our limited time. When we do reach the required ilvl to raid we plan to do so with a hardcore mind-set as we did in WoW. I merely hope that the hardships we encounter along the way are of the 'difficult' kind, rather than the 'tedious' grindy time consuming kind.

ps: Where is this tome vendor?
