BARD GEAR (BEST IN SLOT PRE Binding Coil of Bahamut)

I have a bard and I am farming my butt off in AK between that and DL gear what is the most beneficial for us bards?

Head= DL
Neck = DL
Body = Toxtotes ( Will have Bard Body Next Week YaY!!!)
Legs = Toxtotes
Feet = Toxtotes (Soon To be DL)
Hands = Toxtotes (because DL looks like garbage to me)
Ring 1 = DL
Ring 2 = Toxtotes
Bracer = DL
Earring = DL

Weapon= Garuda's Spine (If you can get it drop I can't ffs)

If there any suggestions please feel free to share them. Thank you in advance

Pre Coil is w/e honestly. Get your DL, get your relic wep. True BiS is a mixture of crafted gear(gryphon, militia) that's melded and some DL, but for the most part i wouldn't aim for it unless you're on legacy.

if you can manage to drop some accuracy for a better piece then go for it though as our DL is itemized like shit.

Thank you and I forgot to mention. What is best to gear yourself for Bindiing Coil. I'm on a non legacy server so crafters are not there yet and I am working on my relic but still haven't had any luck with Garuda or Ifrit Dropping a bow

I'm at 41 atm but im trying to inform myself as best i can so i dont waste time when i get to 50. I have heard the bow from gridania is really good and a lot of people are using it over the ifrit one. If posible can you elaborate on whats toxtotes and DL? Is the gear from the grand company good ?

GC gear? No. GC armor is crap.
GC weapon? Yes. The best GC weapon is good.
DL is darklight. Close to the best gear.
Toxotes is Amdapor Keep loot for Archers/Bards.

HQ Gryphon gear with 3-5 crit (savage aim IV) materia is far, far better than darklight or toxotes.

Of course, be prepared to pay 500k-1 million per piece ^^

I agree with everything posted if you exclude melded iLVL 70 crafts; frankly a pain for a temporary marginal improvement if you have an FC that can clear a few turns of Coil with some sort of regularity. DL body is worth getting over Toxotes, but it sounds like you're just holding off since Bard's Shirt is coming next week. That's fine, but if you are using a primal / GC weapon, I would definitely save your Mythology for Artemis Bow; the base WD gain is massive for damage, particularly at high levels of DEX. The question becomes closer when you're deciding between upgrading relic bow to Artemis +1 or getting Bard's Shirt. I did the drawn out math on a few scenarios in another thread floating around here.

HQ Gryphonskin Gear almost Mirrors Darklight Stats. There is typically 1 Stat that is different between the two, but the Quantity and Quality of those stats are comparable. Then you can slot 5 Materia to the Gryphonskin. It's very much superior, but it's going to cost you.

The only gear Definitively better than HQ Crafted Class Gear is AFv2 because it's Item Level 90 and Materia Stat caps prevent HQ Crafted from matching it's stats.

Edit: BTW, I have All HQ Gryphonskin except the new Hat, I'm not just talking bs.

Um, I've drooled over gryphonskin gear on the AH and contemplated using my life's savings to buy one savage aim materia IV, but thats the closest I've come =3

But if you compare the stats, he's right though. But as for farmed/tomestone gear, the breakdown in the first post is basically right.

Essentially, pick whatever has most crit, least accuracy, to minimize wasted stats.

Head= DL
Neck = definitely not DL, get an HQ imperial operative choker
Body = DL
Legs = DL legs really aren't that great, if you're gonna get an AF+1 piece get the legs first
Feet = DL
Hands = Toxtotes>>>DL hands
Ring 1 = DL
Ring 2 = Toxtotes (i really don't know a better alternative)
Bracer = DL
Earring = DL
Belt=DL

Disagree with the Toxtotes hands being better than Darklight.

you really don't think 11 crit and 15 skill speed is better than 2 dex, 16 accuracy (which gives you absolutely nothing) and 8 determination?

I know getting the bow+1 is a bigger upgrade but right now I am waiting on some of my friends from our linkshell so we can complete as a linkshell so while they are running a little behind I mine as well grab the shirt because that a nice upgrade and next I get my plus one for my artemis bow

With how skill speed is i'd honestly take 1 int over 15 skill speed....and int does nothing for us. With how much skill speed it takes to even make a noticeable difference you would have to have nothing but crafted gear full of materia III to see said difference(which unless you have 10mil+ to make said gear you will never achieve those results). Skill speed needs a major overhaul if they want people to look forward to the gear it's on, nothing short of a x4-5 multiplier on it currently will make it look more attractive than any secondary stat or minuscule main stat our gear comes with.

from my point of view the main draw of toxotes is better stat distribution, i like crit over determination and at least skill speed gives "something" compared to accuracy

Would rather constantly hit more (with the +2dex from DL) than get 0.01s more skill speed and unreliable crit rate. But everyone has got their own personal preference. + you're gonna need accuracy for BCoB (which this Thread, I undersrood, was going through)

Edit: And I'm pretty sure that extra defence and vitality isn't bad for anyone.

I would personally consider the lvl 49 HQ Ring being a worthy alternative to Toxotes due to the ability to add VIT materia which can actually make a pretty nice difference in your HP values. If survival is something you're concerned with as an entry level coil runner pick one up and slot some VIT. You can also add determination and accuracy on the ring making it have well rounded stat gains overall. I personally used the 49 HQ Spinel Ring over the Toxotes one due to these small benefits.

IMHO 2 dex beats 11 crit + 15 SS all by itself, Det and acc bonuses are just icing on the cake.

Main stat is weighted such that you need a real crapton of any given secondary stat to compete. Secondary stats are pretty garbage in this game, even with bard's bloodletter crit mechanic.

For PRE-COIL, get full Darklight, Toxotes Ring, and regular Relic.

For Gryphonskin pieces, the only one you should really consider unless you have oodles of cash to blow is an HQ Gryphonskin Ring with Vit IV + 2x Savage Aim III + 2x Savage Might III. You won't replace this ring until you start clearing Coil T5 and hoping for that Allagan ring drop, so it's a very long term purchase.

For Myth purchases, they're something like Ring>Pants>Gloves>Belt>Chest>Relic+1>stuff, but you can do those in whatever order you like. They're the best of the BRD AF+1 set.
