GP regen is too darned slow!

It's too slow, needs speeding up a little because it's painful waiting for it, and with timed leves it's nerfing the xp I gain at handin and risking chance of running out of time. The GP cost of abilities to help improve success rates seem a bit too high for the time it takes for the GP to regen too. Does anyone else feel this? Some of the people in my ls think the same.

I haven't noticed it being a detriment to gathering leves. For the ones with an evaluation I can usually get off two of the 250GP abilities that give 50% bonus to gathering success and I always make the 25% bonus from evaluation. Granted, this is only on level 10 leves where I'm keeping my gear up to date and have a 95% chance to gather the normal item and about a 60% chance for the better item without the 250GP ability, but I imagine this would still scale accordingly.

I think the way it currently works is fine as to keep things in the economy in check. If you were allowed to gather too much too fast it'll just tank the prices. (this already seems to be happening)

That's because the abilities that use the GP can be very powerful - since this is not a turn based but instead a real-time game they have to slow it to a crawl or downplay the abilities. One or the other. It isn't a detriment to normal crafting and is intended to give you a little boost every few minutes for a short time.

At first I was like you, OP. But after playing gatherer and almost spending 99 tickets on gathering leve's I can tell you that the GP regen is just right imo.
You can use the potion if you want t oget the GP back, but I save those for personal gathering needs rather than using it on gathering leve, and like Orophin said, I did lv40-45 guild leve and use 2x250GP skill ups on 2 nodes and stick with the 100GP skills on the other ones and still have no problem getting the 25% exp bonus reward.

I have no problem getting +25% from fieldcraft leves. I also have no problem getting +200% from tradecraft leves. Notice the "slight" disparity there?

GP regen certainly felt painfully slow to me when I started doing fieldcraft leves at 20. Before that, I had relied on pure gathering to level up. Now that I'm used to the "rythm" of the leves, it actually feels just about right. The only painfully slow regen I see now is in between a pair of leves. I tend to be out of GP after the first, and I don't regen much riding to the second.

It looks like GP regenerates at about 5 points every 2.5 seconds. My miner class has 463 GP max, so it takes just under 4 minutes to regen from 0. When you look at the grand scheme of things, 4 minutes isn't really that bad :)

I did some digging, and it looks like Cordials (GP potions) are only obtainable via leve reward. I would like to see different levels of them craftable by alchemists.

If it was faster it would remove the need to worry doing the leve at a higher level and possibly failing because you'd always be able to use the 250GP 50% gathering boost and never fail and always get +25% bonus on certain leves, it's in an excellent place and there's absolutely no need to change it other than peoples lack of patience.

It helps to keep you gathering gear updated (HQ it if you want). This may alleviate the need to wait for the GP Regen as you will have high Gathering Stat for your level.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that... yeah, higher gathering stats would increase the chances of getting items, meaning less use of having to spam a high GP costing ability. I'll start using my gathering materia for my gear from now on.

The regen rate is fine the way it is.

But, They need to up the GP regained for a successful gather, as it is, It is the same or slightly faster to just sit their and wait for the GP to regen, then build it back by gathering crystals or something else that you need no skills for.
