182 min on duty finder and counting......

Yup...

I only got 3 hours a night of playing during weekdays...
Was hoping i could at least squeeze in one guildhest, but 182 min later.... still waiting....

Finally gave up cos i got work early tomorrow T.T


Is this common?... i don't really frequent this forum often, so if this has been posted before then i apologise

Play healer and you will get into a dungeon ASAP!

Every worlds are running short on healer, that's why it takes really long. And it might be faster if you just invite someone from your world into your party, even you only have tank and DPS. It makes duty finder match up much more faster.

And every time you see someone play as a healer, send a friend request ASAP!! They're like a rare legendary Pokemon by now.

I would guess whatever class/job they add next will be a healer, might be a long wait though

I am sorry but this is not true, I will say that if you are a tank or healer you will find group through dungeon finder a lot quicker then DPS but the truth is it is dependant on your level and what you are queuing for it will vary on whether its a tank you are stuck waiting for or a healer. Personally for the instances I have queued for lately about 2/3rdwe have been waiting for a tank but when I was a lower level we waited for healers more.
The reason was at low level the only healer is conjurer but after lvl 30 youcan get scholars as a healing class along with White mage/conj

I mean this is as friendly a manner as possible. Make some friends. It goes way faster. Our healers and tanks always have atleast 2 other people with them and instantly queue into the dungeon. You cant fix no X class is queuing for the duty your looking for. The other thing that would help is the reduction of xp from fates and push people to the duty finder to level. But with the duty finder prone to crashing do we as players really want that to happen?

Unlikely. They already have two healer classes (how many do we need?) and the second healer class (Arcanist with Scholar job) is the brand new class/job in ARR.

Nobody does guildhests they are not worth the experience, you need to queue for dungeons. Most people on my server say the DPS queue is about 20 mins, I get in as a healer in less than 10 and tank queues are almost instant depending on the instance you are doing.

Yep, don't play dps. That simple.

They need to increase dungeon exp to be up to par with fates not nerf. It takes long enough to grind out 50 on an alt class already. The problem with this as you said id the DF is limited. When we queue with a full group for AK runs it take 20+ minutes to get into the instance with an already full group. I cant imagine if this was the case for all dungeons.

ppl do guildhest.....1 time D: because it has a exp bonus , after that 1 time isnt worth even as tank/healer

Try shouting for a group next time.

This is essentially the issue. You'll have your normal tanks/healer getting quicker queues because there are less of them (theoretically), however the biggest issue is that dungeons and guildhests for the most part are one trick ponies for your first time around. Even when people come through the lower to mid levels again with a 2nd or 3rd class, and should (theoretically) bolster the Duty Finder queue once more, they skip over it because it simply isn't as efficient as slamming your head against the keyboard for a few hours in FATE grinding.

I agree with this though, I'm trying to level up my THM and figured the fastest way to level on early levels would be doing the dungeons.
It probably would of been the fastest way if it weren't for the fact that it took me 45~ minutes to get a satasha group..

Saying "play as healer" isn't an option, I'm already a lvl 50 WHM, I trying to get some skills from THM right now.
Yeah I know, running with friends is one solution and that's probably what I'll be doing, but would be nice if I could use DF when my friends aren't online to help me.

u can use the DF when your friends arent online Oo? , as WHM u enjoyed the instant dungeons , now as DPS u are in the other side of the fence....waiting until a healer and tank are a avaliable , SE cant create tanks/healers from thin air :(

The problem isn't whether or not you can use the duty finder, or if you roll tank, healer or dps, it is that there are no incentives to run the dungeons or guildhests more than once, especially when FATEs are significantly faster in regards to experience.

Looking at queue times specifically, 45 minutes is probably pretty normal is most MMOs during the leveling phase as people start to max out characters, however FF14 isn't like most MMOs. You max out a class, and then you level a new class on the same character. Given that it is more efficient to grind FATEs, you are essentially having each player added to the DF pool once with their main class. Even if people decide to level their healer/tank classes, they're likely to skip dungeons/guildhests so although the roles are being 'created', they aren't being added to the DF pool.

Given that just about every dungeon is tied to a story mission, they need to address the issue sooner rather than later.

u got a point , ppl usually do the low lvl dungeons for the missions and then keep leveling.....leveling subclasses is a fate spam

Personally, I think players trying to do dungeon content first time should be give priority. When you read there are people doing theses events a lot of times, I really think there needs to be a que, so first timers to a dungeon/event are at the top of the line. Let the people that have done it a gillion times wait or do fates.

People raiding FATES are similar to people who use steroids to look better, but fail to improve their physical condition. They manage to be level 50 but lack the knowledge/strategy to manage parties and dungeons.

That's why everytime I get a story quest that requires a dungeon, I just facepalm. I know the wait times for DPS so I just wait, or I find myself a healer and que with them and it seems to cut the waiting time in half, I'll eventually be healing and tanking but for now as dps...I just kill random Sh** until it pops, the only thing that upsets me is I can't level my Chocobo AND be in the duty-finder at the same time, So much for two birds with one stone, I can only hit one =(

Also less damage to gear.

Or the damage to gear vs how much EXP you get is MUCH lower.

The problem is the group size. Since now in this game you need 1 tank and 1 healer for every 2DPS, the DPs will have to wait longer. The group should be 5 if not 6, 1 Healer, 1 Tank and 3-4 DPS.

I rolled a Tank because I knew this would be an issue. People just do not want to play tanks or healers in these games because those roles carry too much responsibility. So there is probably a 10:1 ratio of DPs to healers and tanks, and with a party of 4? This is why you will see long queue times.

Also I agree about the FATEs, they need to be nerfed or dungeons need to be buffed. If there is 4-5 methods of EXP gain in a game and everyone just chooses one method, chances are its not balanced correctly.

So when I played the first dungeon I tried as an archer first.. It took me 45 minutes I think, I had long since moved on, and had to rapidly drop what I was doing, switch classes back (from fisher I think), and join. Normally as Conjurer the longest wait time I have had is 10 minutes to wait on a tank, and usually it is more like 10 seconds. But it appears that the problem at the lower levels right now is we don't have enough tanks or healers(if to a slightly lesser extent), and those we do have aren't willing to replay a "worthless" gh.

My way of helping with the healer side is to periodically try and join low level things I have already done so people can play. But even then you still have the tank problem. I tried to play a low level gh yesterday as a conjurer. I gave up after 20 minutes.

I would suggest that others to do the same as I have been: for the sake of people starting characters, or just leveling a different class, be willing to replay low level things you don't need as a tank or healer (especially tanks). It is still a quick bit of fun, and doesn't hurt anything. And would go a long way to helping solve this problem. Also I see it as practice, both in my class skills, and my ability to deal with random groups with different skills and (in)experiences.

That's like saying we have four tank classes just because the classes have secondary jobs. We have two healers, and one doesn't show up until level 30 which makes queuing very long for low level DPS without someone helping them out (like a FC or one of their friends).

Think it's the instance server capacity that's holding the queues up, I've been stuck with a full group at "Reserving Instance" for over an hour.

You guys still dont understand the real issue, the group size. The ratios are all messed up. This games group size says the ratio of DPS to tanks and healers should be 1:1 where in reality its more like 5:1.

I dont care how many more healing or tanking jobs they add, it will not make playing a healer or tank any more attractive.

This definitely makes the problem worse, but if you have 0 healers or 0 tanks in the pool, it doesn't matter if it is two dps per group, or a dozen. New players are the ones adding numbers the duty finder player pool, not players levelling secondary/sub-classes.

And this is one of the biggest concerns. What happens when you get DPS players that are tired of long queues, and decide to FATE farm upto 50 so they can queue as a tank and get shorter queue times? It isn't only going to be bad for them, but everyone that gets them in a DF party.

I think that's the reason, as well as many people starting to rage at newbie healer/tanks instead of explaining their mistakes. No one likes to be shouted at, so even less people play tanks or healers.

So far I was lucky to only have one party (out of 10 I think) where people were raging, but I know of others who were less lucky and quit their role in the end changing to DPS. If people remembered that not everyone had a perfect grasp on their class back when they started, things would have been easier and there would be more tanks/healers.

There are two different problems. Obviously DPS will have longer queues because of dps/healer/tank ratio, and this isn't a problem they cannot solve, everyone plays whatever hey want.

PRoblem now at peek hours is that even with a premade party you have to wait 20-30+ minutes to get an open spot on the instance server so your premade group/pug can play. This is the problem they need to address asap.

As mentioned before, entering que on the DF with either a Tank or Healer will significantly reduce your wait time. Find a friend and que up together!

Also, your preferred language also has a LOT to do with que times. The DF with automatically attempt to wait for party members with the same language for obvious reasons.

In the DF main menu (where you select the dungeon) the top right corner has your preferred language highlighted. You can also highlight the other 3 languages before joining que, this will greatly reduce your wait time on ques (a lot of people with different languages are on different servers due to the inability to create characters on the server they would like).

Use the built in translator for groups where you do not speak the same language, I have had almost instant ques (10 min max wait) on all dungeons so far.

I understand your issue with having to wait 20-30 minutes to get into a dungeon with a premade group, which I admit is ridiculous, but it is an entirely different issue to someone been stuck in queue for over 3 hours to find no group at all. Your two 'problems' are definitely legitimate, however they aren't (essentially) the issues the OP is suffering from. The OP is suffering because there are next to no tanks/healers queuing for dungeons/guildhests before level 50 because FATE grinding has far more pros then dungeon running does.

The only people really queuing for dungeons are those that need them for their main story quest line, which means if you are late to the game, or didn't go hard in the first week or two, your queue time is going to be far higher than it was for everyone else, and since most dungeons are required to progress the story it is a real issue.

Again, if you're the only tank in the pool, with 0 healers you won't get a group. It doesn't matter that you are playing a needed role because the other needed role isn't there. It is worse as a DPS because there are likely to be far more of those than other roles (for many reasons), however you could be one of two dps in the pool for the dungeon, so there is no competition there, but without at least one tank and one healer also in the pool, the group simply will no form.

The fact that FATE grinding/farming has far more pros than dungeon/guildhest running is one of the biggest reasons why you don't have people that are levelling secondary roles/subclasses join dungeon/guildhest queues.

Sounds like the OP was referring to guildhests specifically. If so then the reason that was taking so long is cause its only really worth it to do them once per character. That is the only time you get a good chunk of rewards, even if you switch classes you will never get that good chunk again. Unless SE makes some changes to the way that works i fear the guildhests will be something that dies off really fast. I tried to catch up since I hadnt done one in just about 20 levels and couldnt get one either, I was a tank even.

Try queueing up for dungeons instead, you might have to wait till you find a group of friends willing to run you through guildhests before you can start doing more of those.
