Amdapor keep- wrong loot settings

Greetings. I killed with party last boss in Amdapor keep and in the chest was loot- "toxotes tunic" for DoW, but I could not push "need"- only "greed". I'm playing monk and I dont have any such item in my inventory. I think it is a bug. Thank you

Toxotes set is for Archer/Bard.
Peltast set is for Pugilist/Monk.
Heitaros set is for Lancer/Dragoon.
Hoplite set is for the tanks.
Stragos set is for healers (WHM/SCH).
Demagogue set is for BLM/SMN.

Here is the item. Does anyone see here the sign "this gear is only for archers and bards"? I dont see such words too. It meens, that I must be able to push NEED button on rolling this thing, or it is a bug

If you had Need, it would let you take it over Archers/Bards - DEX is their primary stat and STR is yours, so the improvement you gain is dwarfed by theirs. I don't know MNK AF body stats from the top of my head, but I'd be surprised if this piece would provide more of a boost.

If you can explain why a MONK would want a DEX based gear (dex only effects ranged DMG and block/parry rates) which will do nothing for a monk as it has no STR (you know the one main stat for melee DPS), then we can talk about why you can not need on it.

While this should probably be archer/bard only currently, it is marked as DoW because in the future when there are other DoW which are ranged DPS they would need to go back and change ever piece of DEX based gear rather than just add the need priority to the new class/job.

that gear has no strength on it, why would want to need it even if it was available to you

Yeah, the "sign" screaming not monk gear is the DEX. Would be along the same lines as trying to roll "need" on "all class" gear with int or mind on it.

Probably like half the people I run into think gear is better or worse based solely off of the green +# or red -# next to the defense stat at the top :/

Obviously PLD/WAR gear is the best because of these stats. DuH! Come on SE, why can't I equip this gear that is OBVIOUSLY better for me!!!

It doesn't mean that at all.. Needing isn't based on what is listed there I.E. Disciple of War... its based on the stats listed on the item. Why would a monk need dexterity at all.

Im not interested in all this crap. I dont see any inhibition of possession this item by monk. If so- it is a BUG that monk can not push NEED button while rolling

The inhibition is that you'd be

a. an idiot for wanting it on mnk
b. a selfish idiot for lotting it over an archer/bard

This "crap" is so foolish players cannot take the drops from their rightful recipients.

How simple do you want it made for you? Restrictions on rolling are based on stats, not "who can equip it".

Sometimes you just need to admit you're wrong instead of continuing down the rabbit hole.

BS it is a bug.. im a gladiator tank* and iv found loots for tanks only , gld war pdl marouder. and still the need arent available for me... but for the archer it was... why an archer can have the need available if he cant equip the danm armor? and it was better than my chest and it was for my lvl...

i totally agreed... if its disiple of warr fk it need!... fashion its important too lol

Does it need to say its a bard item. The fact that its only DEX and not STR should be reason enough for a monk not to wear it. If a monk does wear it, you should be laughed out of the game for wearing gear that is worse for your class then your AF is.

You know, what goes through your head where you think, I can't be wrong, this must be a bug? You should have some basic knowledge of your class, especially it's main stat, which for Monk happens to be Strength.

Even if you could need, you'd be a bit of a ****** to need on something you have absolutely no use for.

Someone already mentioned it's open that way because if they add a future class that uses DEX, they don't have to go back and fix coding for every single piece of gear with what class uses it. They can leave it open to any DEX users.

Can't tell if serious, or trolling. But the "Disciple of War" stuff is always for DPS, That is why the tank gear is specifically locked to the tank classes. The gear linked in question is "equippable" by all "Disciple of War" which happens to include Archer/Bard (they do NOT use magic). However, they are the only class to use DEX meaningfully.

Archer/Bard currently shares no gear with any other class. The two healers share gear, the two casters share gear, the two tanks share gear, and the two melee share gear. Archer/Bard is just a special snowflake for the moment.

As I said before, making all gear that is DEX based marked "ARC BRD" rather than DoW with only ARC BRD having need is a bad idea because it is that much more work needed to change EVERY item when a new class/job is added. leaving it as is just means they need to add the new class/job to the need option and not also change the descriptions of EVERY item. The curent way also allows any DoW to equip it for vanity item (i.e. not for combat and when stats matter) while the change you want to make the why i cant need makes it something only ARC BRD can equip

All information about gear must be in describtion, so players dont have question ?WHY?. Developers must add this information in describtion of this item and others too. Without this information it is a BUG, that I, monk, can not push NEED button on toxates tunic

No there does not need to be any more information put on these items. If you hit 50 and are too dumb to understand that dex is worthless for you(if you are not a bard) that is your own fault, not the devs(same reason why bards can't need on the lvl 50 str gear). If anyone reaches max level and does not understand the stats their class needs when just glancing at your character screen it becomes plainly obvious it is your own fault for not understanding, square does not need to change anything with how gear is handled.

Well, if you think SE should put a mark on every single piece of gear as to which class they belongs to, go ahead and make a new thread to suggest that.
I don't know how long this will take for them, or how much other functionalities they have to delay to get this up, but it's your choice to suggest.

If you think this is a bug... Then may I ask, is it also a bug that I, as a warrior that can equip almost any kinds of armor in the game, can't do NEED on some gear in the game? those leather are equipable by me too right?
If that's a bug, I will do a NEED on every piece of gear and grab all those leather gears you were supposed to have too.

There was a developer comment back in beta (maybe even when 1.0 official service was running) stating that certain gear won't be restricted by which classes can actually equip it because they recognize the desire for folks to wear different gear while in town and stuff. (vanity gear) This is why the Toxote Tunic does not have a ARC/BRD only restriction.

The equip rules and looting rules are two different things. As others in this thread have helpfully tried to point out, there is no STR on the body piece which means the armor is not functionally suitable for a MNK. The only way you will be able to need on this gear is to play as an ARC/BRD because the gear stats favor their classes.

There's nothing further you can really hope to accomplish in this thread. That gear is not an upgrade for your MNK, regardless whether you want it or not. You're just going to have to win on a greed roll if you ever want to get it unless you actually play an ARC/BRD.

why argue guys. he's obviously someone who either paid for his levels or just grinded fates instead of playing the game and learning the same things that everyone is trying to teach him here.

So you don't have the lvl 45 af boots from your class quest that are undeletable? Because those are far and away better because of the dex over str.
