The ability to duty finder 8 mans

Currently, 8 mans like ifrit, titan, garuda, extremely difficult bosses, especially the latter, that require competent players, a good strategy, good understanding of your class, patience, and a good party set up(pretty much need SMN/BLM for ifrit, BRD is basically required, WHM is very much needed) can be done using duty finder. Sure, you don't need the perfect party set up like I mentioned if you've got some gear, but when starting out, you're doing ifrit because you need his weapon, which is why you're doing it, and generally you're doing him because you're on his tier of gear right now.

The ability to duty finder it means less people shouting for parties, less people joinng FC's, less people looking for other players on their server to run it, and less statics being formed. Most people will just queue up, roll the dice, and pray for the best instead of trying to make a group on their own server. Because of this, it's even harder for people who WANT to make a competent group/static to do these fights even harder, because there's no LFG channel and there's much less people interested when they can queue up + afk + pray.

You will rarely succeed in duty finder for titan, almost NEVER for garuda, and even Ifrit is a toss up.

Can 8 mans please be removed from the duty finder? I would love to find more players on my own server to run this with, and meet new friends, but with the easability to just queue up and afk/craft/etc, there's a much smaller pool of players to pick from. It's harder to make a FC, harder to make a static, and harder to make friends.

I made a LFG LS on my server, and sometimes advertise it in /shout to get more members, since there is no LFG channel in the game, this will have to do. When I find members for ifrit and 8 mans, I have to teleport(This costs me a lot of gil..) to every high level zone and major city and /shout, hoping to find members.

I don't see the problem here. If you don't want to use Duty Finder, then don't use it?

Personally, i'm pretty miffed that you can't duty finder the binding coil.
I understand that the win rate would be lower, but i still want to spam duty finder to play it rather than go for shout/FC parties sometimes.

There's no reason to remove anything from the duty finder. If you don't want to take your chances with a DF party, then form a party of your own. It's really not that hard to form your own party.

(I have won nearly every DF ifrit party. Garuda is another story, but I HAVE won it with a DF group)

I like DF because I play at off-peak hours where its hard to do anything you mentioned already OP. What I think SE should do though is make a general server-wide Lv50 only chat.

Now let me tell you folks about my experience with Garuda using DF. Every single time it's the same.

This is exactly my point, having a paladin for stun and BLM or SMN for LB is almost essential to killing it. I also don't see two scholars being able to heal it, the lack of shell and extremely weak AOE healing would make the fight a disaster.

You need a certain class make up and competent players, so why does duty finder throw you into a x2 war x2 SCH double brd DRG MNK party?

The fact that duty finder exists makes it harder to form your own sever-only group, if duty finder didn't exist, you could form a group with competent players of proper set up much more easily.

Scholar is fine though, there's not that much AoE damage going about with the exception of the big one after nail, which you can easily solo heal even as a Scholar as long as you save your Fairy AoE heal, the healing buff and Rouse. Meteor LB and Paladin aren't essential. It's just that's the easiest strategy that all but guarantees a win. The problem is that too many people want to run in and start fighting without communicating with each other and fleshing out a strategy. That's why you're given so much time for the fight.

Believe it or not, you don't actually need to stun every Eruption. It's only the ones in his final phase where everyone is concentrated behind him. Outside of that, it's all about placement. In 1.0, we had everyone placed in certain positions on the outside of the arena so that people could run from Eruption without running into each other. The same thing can happen here (and it would be better since 1.0 had crazy latency problems making Eruptions a crapshoot.) It's just that people are lazy.

The solution would be for SE to nerf the fight a bit so it's more DF-friendly. Maybe they will. But don't act like a restriction created by the community is "essential" to a fight.

if ppl are ok with how it is, who are you to make them stop doing what they want to do?

I think one of the main problems with the duty finder is that it has no limitations on who can sign up for a fight rather than "Are you lv 50" or "Did you manage to win against Ifrit". Garuda is a huge step up from Ifrit in terms of both challenge and gear required so it's always frustrating when you load in and see lv 50 players wearing lv 29 rings and necklaces.

its no different then you having to form your own groups and wading thru all the ppl wearing lv29 gear that are LFG - either way, you gonna have to wait just as long to find ppl who can do the fights if you choose to do them with RANDOM ppl

I don't condone limitations. This is a terrible idea.

The one issue I have with the duty finder is you're forced to use the 1/1/2 or 2/2/4 party setup. While this is fine for most content, things like the primal battles in particular can benefit from a different makeup- usually either 1/3/4 or 1/2/5. For fights, like Titan hard, where a second tank is mostly useless, you shouldn't be forced to bring 2 tanks.

I don't see that it would be too hard to allow this- people can still be matched into the right roles in each queued party no problem. It wouldn't limit people the way other kinds of options (like server only) would.

Can i not still play with "RANDOM" players if i get to choose what jobs i want? or does that mean, it only groups people i all ready know. I retract what i said, i had no idea..

Why don't people read anything past the thread title?

It isn't as simple as "just don't use it if you don't want to", because 99% of the population is using it. This makes it harder to find people in the world to do it with, no one trying to form server groups, no one shouting, no one forming FC's/linkshells.

It's fine now though, I made my own server-only FC and we did ifrit over 20 times last night and got almost everyone weapons, but it took a lot of hard work just to find these people and make a working FC because the majority of players will just use duty finder, roll the dice, and pray, meaning the pool of players for people looking for competent server-only groups is incredibly small.

Duty finder being able to queue for 8 mans makes it harder to make server only groups, you can't just say "Dont use it" that is not a viable option when 99% of the population uses it.

It makes it so much harder to form a static, make a FC, and find people on your server because of the easability to just be able to queue and alt tab.

Extremely Hard content make for organized FC's that require strategy/teamwork/certain class set up/gear should not be eligible for duty finder, it's as simple as that.

If it's not designed for it, it shouldn't be an option. You should not be able to queue for it at all. Simple as that. MMO players will always take the path of least resistant, which makes it harder to make actual groups for it when there's an easier, much worse, but much more simpler route.

The duty finder is designed first and foremost as a fast matching service that fills roles for you, letting one player dictate what jobs defeats this purpose. If you want to go with a certain setup, take some people from your FC, friends or shout for it.

You need four people who can deal damage, two people that can take damage and two that can undo damage? Here, have four people that can deal damage, two that can take damage and two to undo damage. Done.

Also bollocks to Ifrit needing a PLD to stun and caster to LB, all melees have a stun, organise them into a stun order and have either a melee LB a nail or tank LB Inferno.

EDIT: Remember it has been stated multiple times that there will be content that you can not or should not be able to complete with the duty finder, doesn't mean it won't be available in the duty finder.
