Creating characters...?

Any news on when we are going to be able to do so? I have three people waiting to get on our server (which currently has 15 people on it so no we arent going to move around). I did have SIX people waiting but three of them said "F THIS" and stopped trying because they couldn't create a character almost two weeks after launch

Response Square Enix?

I would also like some news on this. I'm in the situation of needing to be on a server where all my friends are, but I can't. So I can't play at all. This is extremely irritating.

Agreed. Some will say "it's a game you dont NEED to do anything" however the sole reason I bought was to play with my comrades as many have. The word of mouth on this game is amazing but the potential subscribers are LITERALLY dropping like flies because they are tired of waiting to either buy the game or even to be able to create a toon. Nobody wants to join after ALL of their friends are capped

I sympathize with you. My Free Company also has an RL friend that is stuck on a JP server because that was the ONLY server available when he registered an account. We need him because he will be playing SUM and WHM.

What makes it even more irritating is that unlike a login server queue, I have to actively keep checking in to see if the server has opened up. They start to open up in the dead of night / early morning hours, but the one I need has not opened yet during those times. So, here I am setting an alarm clock and sleeping in one hour cycles just to see if I can play the game. Seriously. I shouldn't have to resort to one hour sleep cycles just to try to create a character on the random chance that the server's available.

Furthermore, how long do I keep this up before I say enough is enough? It's been the better part of a week thus far, and I don't see myself caring about the game tomorrow or Sunday.

Yeah my server doesnt even come open at 3 4 or 5 am

Good luck getting a responce from SE.. I have read hundreds of posts on this site, and not seen a single answer from SE on any of them. I love the game so far, and have had all the same issues as everyone else, I got to create a character in Beta4 tho... But what that got me was isolation from all my friends. All my friends that decided to wait till character creation is open have either given up or gotten refunds. So now even when character creation does open... I will still be alone.

Worst MMO launch ever... What was the second worst MMO launch??? Well it was version 1.0.

What I dont understand is how smaller companies are so much better at customer support than the larger ones. It baffles me.

That's kinda the point though, "nearly" all servers do come available at some point during the day, but there are specific ones that never do, and there are people who have bought the game to play with friends who happen to be on those specific servers. So these people are stuck not even being able to create a character, nearly 2 weeks after release.

Specificaly we're talking Moogle (EU), Ultros (NA) , Behemoth (NA), Cactuar (NA), Excalibur (NA) and Hyperion (NA) from the EU and NA servers. The only times they've been available in pretty much the last week was for a very brief period just after the servers came up after maintenance on Wednesday.

EXCEPT for the one that needs to be open. This is the issue. Not that it is impossible to create a character on a server but that it is impossible ofr somebody new to buy the game or create a character on a server that for whatever reason is popular and is thusly locked. Good luck getting on Ultros. My brother has been pressing refresh every three minutes SINCE LAUNCH. (minus times he may be sleeping during the afternoon and evening). Bump for SE response.

^ That. As I said, I set an alarm clock and slept in one hour sleep cycles in order to continuously check the servers through the least populated hours of the day, and that still didn't work. No one should have to resort to trying that.

I agree. This is an annoying situation.
Got two friends waiting since launch to join me on Ragnarok.
Even thou the server is off the list now they still cannot create a character there.
Sigh, I just want to play with my friends.
Another one just joined a JP server for now to play around so at least he can play.
Still a not very good situation.

Another issue is that these people are UNABLE to post on the forums and complain BECAUSE they cannot create their character. I wonder if SE even realizes just how many thousands of sales they have lost because their friends said "dont buy it yet you cant create a character anyways" (I have told that to 5 of mine and three of those have given up). And how many subscriptions they have lost to those who have PURCHASED the game but are tired of pressing refresh for two weeks and went back to whatever game they were playing. GTAV comes out within the next week and a half and good luck trying to compete with that rush.

Move to an empty world if you want to play together. Your world is FULL. Imagine a glass filled to the top with milk, add anymore milk and it overflows. However, you can take and pour some off into a new empty glass.

Glass = world.
Milk = people.

friend of mine has been trying since last Friday to get on ANY EU server.

Imagine if it weren't just two friends wanting to play together, but a lot of people who are members of another community on the internet, and quite a few of them are RL friends, and some of those players are already established on another server with friends and relations of their own there. Moving 20 or more people to accommodate one or two people isn't feasible.

Maybe you didn't read the original post. I already stated there are 15 of us on this server, many of whom are capped or almost capped. EVERY WORLD IS FULL except for when they make it available. Go try to create a character right now. In any case, it is unreasonable to ask 15 people to either pay a fee to transfer their characters, or create new ones after considerable time has been invested in them, and the same goes for the other 6 people who are trying. It is unreasonable to tell them "no you cannot play with your friends even though you all purchased the game at the same time you just got unlucky with the refreshes".

By "nearly" all servers I mean there were like 2 servers closed all the rest were open and was able to pick any server I wanted.

For that split second. Seriously. These servers come open for MAYBE 2 to 3 minutes TOPS before they close again. And regardless of any of that - does that mean the people playing on a "full" server are SOL? They are being alienated as customers. And their customers/ potential customers are dropping like flies. Clearly this is the solution in SE's eyes. Once people decide that they won't play the game because of all of their crap then the numbers will die down naturally. Guess they won't be having a strong population on their MMO after all since they can't man up and fix the problems or at least GIVE US A FRICKIN SOLUTION OR ETA

I've refreshing the list once an hour since 1 am through 8 am, and every 5-10 minutes (or generally every 3 minutes when I can) since then until now. All servers during the morning were available from Famfrit through Sargatanas. Lich, Phoenix, Odin, Shiva, Cerberus, Ragnarok, and now Sargatanas recently have become unavailable. Moogle, Ultros, Behemoth, Cactuar, Excalibur, and Hyperion have not been available all day. I've been sitting at home spamming the refresh button all day. Just the fact that I can tell you exact servers that were available and unavailable at different times of the day is indicative at how attentive I have been in not playing the game but instead refreshing the server list all day.

If they came up for 30 seconds and I can't refresh outside of once every 3 minutes, that does me no good at all.

Yep someone occasionally gets lucky but for the vast majority they are not and unable to create characters and therefore unable to post their concerns on this forum.

I am getting about sick of this as well. Behemoth has not been open for character creation even in the dead of night. I'd really like to know how long we have to continue to wait just to make a character.

Why not just make a character on whatever server you can and then apply for world transfer later on?

Yeah it’s just stupid. Friend also try to get on Moogle, has been trying for one week now (not as bad as some others) and keeps refreshing every 3 minutes in the hope the server goes open.

What bothers me the most that it cost her free play time.

Where's the guarantee that you'll be able to transfer to the server you want? Judging by how SE's handled EVERYTHING so far, do you really have that much faith in them?

Because that costs money, and with current pricing looks like it will be just about as much as it cost to buy the game in the first place.

Not to mention they said it will be weeks before server transfers will be ready

Did you not understand the analogy. Doesn't matter what you think is convenient, it can't happen.

It sucks to say it but your friends will just have to wait. You are playing a game where the servers are completely full and not adding new people so that YOUR gaming experience is not ruined along with others..

SO if SE opens the flood gates and your game crashes then guess where you and your friends will be....

So....waiting two weeks is NOT patient then? I would think waiting a few hours possibly a few days after launch would be considered patient. This is WAYYYYYY beyond being simply patient though my friend. You have a fully released and sold product that is unusable for the very purpose of which it was created by many thousands of people. They have been waiting. We have been waiting. Some of them have stopped waiting and you know what? Nobody can blame them. Nobody wants to spend their precious time hitting a damn refresh button every three minutes for weeks.

It can happen. These locks were placed by SE, not some physical technological brick wall that magically is unable to let people create characters. This is a restriction imposed BY SE.

You do realize that this is basically a copy and paste repeat of the "announcement" from last week about tuesday's maintenance right? You realize that we have ALREADY BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE - this week. This is almost word for word what was said before. And guess what, at the beginning of next week when they do another 10 hour maintenance there will STILL be problems and people will STILL be unable to create characters. This will repeat the cycle for the third week in a row. Not to mention you can play. I can play. We already have our toons created. Your position would be COMPLETELY REVERSED if YOU were the one unable to create a god damn toon for two weeks in a row. These people are unable to get on here and bitch about ti because they cannot create their characters. Quit fanboying it up broski - I love the game just as much as everyone else which is why it makes it so frustrating to see my friends dropping like flies since they can't get in weeks down the road. It isn't an unreasonable request after all. The only thing unreasonable in this thread have been the likes of you saying we should just deal with it. Yeah why dont YOU try dealing with it?

The locks are there for a purpose. So that the addition of your friends to the game does not ruin the game play experience for the rest of the people actually being able to play, including yourself. And yes be patient because at it stands you haven't been enough if you are making threads like this.
