Nice job on the early action against RMT

We all know that this will continue to be an issue but your active response is encouraging. 518 accts banned is a nice figure. I/we will continue to report them as they appear... Please continue your positive action on this.

From what I read in the Lodestone notes, it appears those RMT accounts were hacked. To anyone reading this thread, PLEASE get and USE the S-E security tokens so these losers can't steal your character and possibly get you in trouble. There's not much room for complacency when you're dealing with countries that actively encourage intellectual property theft or simply look the other way.

it is a free service, I downloaded mine on the google play store.

It is Free i had it, but now i have token.

Lost my answers to my security questions (Never used them until now.) So now I have to wait for them to remove those or reset them / etc.

Saw some reviews talking about the resetting glitch though. I don't really dare to use it yet. Trying to get the physical token one, but I don't think SE will send it to SE Asia - -

Just set my token app up on my phone. Meant to get around to it, and since the RMTs are getting worse, now was the time. Hell the time was when i first logged in, but i was just lazy =P

Log into your SE-account, you got a link there to the app when setting it up, safest. Otherwise it's named "SQEX Token" and made by Square Enix on Play, not sure on iOS

I used the Token in Alpha and Beta Phases 1-4 and unfortunately that resetting glitch a poster mentionned earlier is indeed a reality and locked me out of my account TWICE, and TWICE I had to contact SE Support to have that thing removed (in 2 months).

So yeah I won't take the chance of trying that again, but I really want to use the physical token... Can't find that thing anywhere in the Square Enix store though unfortunately... Any idea where I could find it?

EDIT: Nevermind I went back to my account page and it seems the physical tokens can be bought now from there... I ordered one but their ordering process/confirmation is such a mess: only gave me the ''thank you for buying the toklen for 10.99$'' without a confirmation of the shipping method/price or a tracking number... So shipping is free on those I guess?

Get the Security Token and use it. There is no excuse not to do it. I don't feel bad for anyone who refuses to use it and gets hacked. None at all. You invite it upon yourself.
In fact, anyone who gets hacked and account banned should be forced to use the security token as a condition of getting their account back.

How does that security token work?. I play on PC. How can i download something on my android and have it affect my PC game?.

I'm really annoyed with the security token process, actually. I tried to set it up the other day, and found that I needed to use my Q&A in order to activate it. I don't recall even be asked to establish a Q&A security measure, let alone what my answers might have been. I recognize two of the questions as something I would have used, but my normal answers are not being taken. I am fairly confident that I was allowed to register a Square account without actually having to fill in those requirements, and now I'm stuck waiting for an overburdened tech support team to reset my info and hope it doesn't somehow nuke or freeze my account.

Paranoid? Probably. Not pleased to have to jump through hoops to protect my own account, though.

Am I the only that that thinks 518 accounts banned is a complete joke? I've blacklisted over half a dozen RMTs this morning alone and I haven't even spent much time in town. I'm also hearing reports of people having their blacklist over half full of RMTs that have been shouting. Just to clarify that's 100 people on that server alone. From what I've noticed every section of each town has at least one if not 2 or 3 people advertising gil for sale at pretty much all times. I left the Inn when I logged on this morning and had over a dozen messages spammed into my chat before town loaded. So no I do not say nice job, I say get off your lazy asses and get to work because you are losing here.

Security token works by generating a random sequence of numbers that you use in addition to your password. It does add an extra layer but is still hackable.

A hacker can disconnect you from game, key log your password and 1 time password as you try to relog then quickly access your Account Management page where they will remove your security token link and login to your character without the need for the token.

SE should not allow you to unlink your token without proof of ID or a photo of the token serial number.

But good going for deleting/banning accounts. Nice to see their swift response to it.

P.S Loving the game.

wish they would release a window phone version so I don't had to use my google pad. HAve a token but prefer a phone app. Those little suckers can be misplaced easily.

I'm still waiting for my security question deal. So I literally cannot use it at present. I will once that issue is sorted however.

What about those of us who don't have an android, we have to spend $10 for one of those tokens?

That's really lame to be honest. Why don't you just use a second password system like the one Vindictus uses?

Google provides a complete suite of Android development tools, teaching aid and other development support to all for free.

Included among these tools is an Android OS emulator for PC, so devs can play with their code and such without having to transfer to their phone every 2 minutes.

So simply goto the official Android dev site, download the Android emulator for the latest stable version of Android, and install and run your token app. Easy!

Just going to point out though that if enough people do it this way the key loggers will be changed accordingly and be searching for this app since the token generator and password would both on the same machine and defeats the purpose.
