I understand Square-Enix is very busy with everything that is going on, but is there any chance we could get an approximate time when digital sales will resume?
Thanks so much, enjoying the game a lot!

maybe better off getting it through another vendor either then square enix i dont think they have given a time frame to which they will start selling again
I know Amazon sold them for a little bit earlier today, but now they're back to being locked.
However, I will contact them as well and see what they have to say.
Frys Electronics is said to have physical copies again by the 17th, but I hope we won't have to wait that long for digital sales!
Update: Just spoke with Amazon's Game department and they said they have not been notified of anything yet.
If I have to wait till the 17th then I am just going to go with a different MMO. It's not fair that everyone else who pre ordered gets a giant head start.
Trying to get an answer on this as well... Friends are trying to get the game but can't. No stores near them carry it.
In the same boat as well. All I can say is check all your local retailers. K-Mart, WalMart, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, Amazon, and whatever else you have in your area. GameStop seems to be getting copies here and there, though it's usually just 1 per store. 2 out of the 3 local GameStops had copies yesterday. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pick either one up due to class. I know Amazon was selling a few yesterday, then turned off sales again. It kind of seems like SE is limiting sales from vendors. Just keep an eye out and always check with the stores. Best Buy & GameStop would be your best places to check first though.
They likely won't turn digital sales back on until the game servers are completely stable with the loads, and with people still getting errors trying to login I doubt that'll happen for a little while yet.
I went to one my my local generic department stores they had heaps of copies and even had it on sale haha!
Kinda feel bad though. Theres people with early access that can barely play. Yet I went and picked up a copy after they had already barred sales, and I have never had a problem or had to wait to log in once!
I went to purchase it on the 28th, every single store was sold out. 3 Game Stops, 4 WalMarts, 2 Targets and 1 Best Buy. I guess I'll try a local shop like Stunt did.
This is total BS. SE needs to give us a response.
I think it's rhetorical, fix what's broke before you invite more people into the broken mess.
You don't see companies selling something that has a recall on it, but they still let people use it. They will sell it again when it's fixed, threats about moving to a new MMO don't likely mean much to them, there's 10 dozen people standing behind you.
Their servers are still struggling with the current load of players (post upgrade), which is growing daily via people that continue purchasing retail copies. Allowing digital copies once more would completely break the system so I honestly don’t see this being turned on for perhaps another week or two.
SE have made a good game that is simply suffering from its own popularity. I only see this a good thing in the long run.
If you want to play badly enough then hunt a retail copy down like I did ;)
We really need a date on this.
SE can't even handle their current load. They put in new servers to alleviate the congestion on the duty servers but now don't even have enough storage for each server to allow people to create the 8 characters that they are suppose to allow them to create. Most people can't even create a 2nd character on their own server let alone 8. SE was ill prepared in every aspect for this game launch. Will the restrictions ever get lifted? Once people start paying for the game they are going to expect to get what they are paying for and if they aren't getting it before they sub do you think they are going to sub at all? I consider myself a very patient person in most cases but even I am getting tired of the restrictions.
Well if I could toss a guess on it I'd say after the middle of the month. They had posted about opening server transfers at that point so you can mildly assume that sales will be back by then. BUT I would -NOT- expect to be able to transfer or roll opn any server you want to because your friends are there. They are trying to lower stress on servers not compound it.
If they seriously don't bring back digital downloads til halfway through the month that is just pathetic.
The problem is that at peak times new character creation is currently blocked on ALL servers. So I can't see them bringing back digital downloads while this continues to be the case.
Does Square: Allow digital downloads, give the upcoming customers temporary gratification, resulting in a historical repeat of Labor Day's 1017 Plague.
Or halt sales: keep current customers satisfied, prepare the next batch of servers for the next wave of customers.
Hmmmm....
How about actually providing servers that can handle players playing the game? They already had a 10 hour maintenance and added 3 (I believe it was 3) servers while fixing a good amount of the log in problem. I have been patient with all the 1017 90000 and other errors but to continue to disable digital sales is getting ridiculous if it lasts another week or so. I know MMO launches have their problems but halting sales of the game is embarrassing for SE.
The goal of an MMO company should be to hold onto current players and gain new players. Hard to gain new players when you halt one of the main ways to buy the game... The launch with all the log in issues was bad enough for a majority of players. Adding halting sales is just making things worse by the day. Having 280,000 players or whatever it is right now is nice but it is a very small number compared to plenty of other MMO's that have come out in recent years. It isn't out of the question to expect them to be able to handle the server load of current and new players entering the game when the number isn't even close to 1 million...
Seriously, Elder Scrolls Online is right around the corner.
