Hi guys, I just tried to play the game once again and I keep getting the 1017 error message.

I'm downloading the patch right now, so I have yet to try. But sadly, 1017 was not an error. This was the solution that SE implemented as a result of the limited server capacity. They said they will continue to limit logins as they verify that the servers can handle the new load, so sadly, I would not doubt that this error message is still displaying.
*Edit* I received the 1017 login error when I attempted to log in. Five attempts later and it let me into the game without placing me in the queue.
Took me about 2hrs to download the patch. Still 1017 error....multiple times. There was no point in the upgrade if there still isn't an afk kick timer and still not being able to access the game. Time is ticking...this is pay to play...and my 7 free days will do nothing for me if I still can't access the game. Your best bet is to probably start over on a new character since there is no transfer if you still want to play.
It...took you 2 hours? It took me 2 minutes at best...
What was to reason for the servers going down yesterday? Log in today server is still full. Go to make a character on another server to avoid this and only 2 servers (EU of course) that I can make a character on. Okay now this is getting beyond stupid.
this game failed once and now reborn the fail twice
I have to admit that having a much larger queue for each server would be very nice. Also, maybe a 10 or 15 minute afk boot would be nice too. Allowing people to go afk for hours without getting booted certainly is adding to the problem.
I'm too getting 1017 error. Same as yesterday, nothing has changed.
Because queues put load on the servers also. This error you're getting is intentional. Think of the servers like a water balloon. When you fill the balloon up with water, you don't put the tap on full stream, you keep it slow and steady until you get to the point where you think the balloon can't handle anymore water... They're just going to slowly open up the servers to more people, they just can't do it all at once. Server load basics right there.
1017 means server full. It's normal. After 3-5 attempts I got in fine mid day.
Keep trying. But I still see a lot of AFK'ers. A timer would help.
I had no issue today. Logged in just fine at noon, logged out at 4 PMish at an inn, came back at 6 PM after I had gone out to eat and logged in to a queue of 50ish and then got in. *shrug*
they've responed to the AFK complaints thusly.
"we know it's a problem, but we don't think putting a timer in is the solution. we want to focus on adding more worlds, first".
Problem is, a lot of people are already committed to the characters they created in the overcrowded worlds. So unless they plan on giving us free transfers, the only real solution is to put an AFK timer in.
I can't play because of 1017. Fix it FFS
Why do they actually want to allow people to go afk forever? What purpose does it serve other than to allow people to hold their spot while they sleep so they don't have to deal with logging back on. Shouldn't the poor people that actually want to log on and play at that moment get priority over someone who has been afk for hours?
Signature stands
Nevertheless, they halted sales of the digital copy. They know exactly the number of people that the game has to support, and should have upgraded not only the capacity for concurrent connections on the servers, but also the capacity for the queue itself. Project management basic right there. :)
An afk timer will not help... all they have to do is use a bot program to constantly move around or if your ps3 use turbo to jump and rubber band your sticks together
I just played the game for 6 hours straight, was awesome, thanks SE :D
How the is that a serious load? The server is already handling AI, game physics, character input, updating the client with all relevant data, etc. The operation of the queue should be so minimal in comparison that it should be virtually non-existent.
Besides, if management of the queue is so intense, I would think it could just be on a separate piece of hardware if you're so worried about it impacting the gameplay of clients currently in the game and playing.
If you make an MMO, and your solution to the too many log ins problem is that you can only have a few hundred people in the queue, I think you've done something horribly, horribly wrong.
Well, luckily I could log in thanks to the queue system, However it took me a while since I kept getting 1017 messages many times before.
I'm still wondering if this issue was really solved...
I tried logging in three different times throughout the day, at peak hours and have not had any trouble logging in instantly, huge difference for me =)
Logged on 3 times today, 1 of which was during primetime. Did not see a single 1017, it puts me straight into the queue.
I haven't even heard of people on Goblin being put in a queue yet(by that I mean they're going straight in). Some servers are overcrowded. If you *really* want to play, dropping that char you put a whole 1-2 weeks into and joining a less crowded server would be a good idea. I understand some people might not be able to due to friends and such. Just a suggestion to those raging while there's an obvious solution if you're that addicted~
I do know I keep getting an error MSG when I try to log into the game (1017). It says to me that SE is having trouble operating a queue, which their competitors don't seem to have a problem with. It's very disappointing, not instill confidence in Square, and is effecting my decision to resub at the end of the month. I figure the Tech Support forum is as good a place as any to communicate that to them since it seems like something SE might be interested in (since it might effect subscriptions).
On the other hand, you don't really sound like you know what you're talking about. So what are you doing here exactly? Official SE apologist?
I haven't gotten the error at all. I either got put in a queue which only takes about 20 seconds max to get in, or just get straight in. Unlike before yesterday where i could only get in at the early hours of the morning.. and usually by that time i'd wanna go to sleep.. I've been able to get on all day without any hassle, and I've logged off plenty today and managed to get back on without any errors.
When the servers went back up, there was a queue, of about 40 people.
I was happy with that, after 2 hours of gaming, I got disconnected, and couldn't get back in again due to error 1017, no queue, nothing. Tried for another hour, still getting error 1017, I got sick of it and went played another game instead.
How hard is it to keep a queue up? Seriously, I had queues of 1000 people back in wow classic, and I waited.
Don't think you gave me 7 days free, and you can play around with my free time. Time is precious, at least let me know if I should wait for the queue, or just head to bed.
No que, no error for me on Balmung or Ixion. I also logged out and back in about 3 times.
No issues today on Behemoth
It seems this is only happening in Midgard...
This was my experience last night. 9'kd in an instance of tam-tara and was u able to rejoin until 7am the next day. Of course its my fault for joining a high pop server like Ramuh JPN in beta-4 and expecting to be able to play after launch - entirely unreasonable of me...
Guess I should either reroll on a new server where there are slots free (if there even are any) and AFK all day while I go to work OR maybe I could just move closer to the server from Australia to Japan.
