Uh. I thought they fixed this? Aren't we supposed to get put in a queue now or something?
BTW, some of you people don't seem to get it. There is no excuse to have 1017. EVER. If 10,000 people try to log in, then there should be a queue of 10,000.

Sigh...... the log in restriction is still in place til the initial server rush is over. Be patient..
Technically they're still supposed to be "Funneling" us in, but if it's still happening in a few hours then you can bet this will continue.
Got in just fine to Behemoth. Put me in a queue of 6, then right in.
I'm aware of the login restrictions. The point is that they were supposed to fix the 1017 crap. We shouldn't be seeing it to begin with. If the world is full, we should be entering a queue. Not getting an error.
TL;DR: As those of us on overfull worlds predicted, the maintenance didn't fix the problem. It only reduced the total number of people effected. It's like announcing that a cure for aids is just a slight increase in the production of treatment medicine, not an actual cure.
Got on no issues not even a Q came on Hyperion
Just tried logging in 10 straight times, only to be greeted by our oh-so-familiar friend 1017.
If this doesn't change within the next few hours, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Unsurprised, but disappointed nonetheless.
Sigh... When did people stop reading all together? ( pointing finger at the corner where the dunce hat is) go on , get over there.
Please if d login fails, give it sometime then try again. Spamming it will only make it worse ugh
In the time period just after maintenance has completed, we predict a rush of characters logging in simultaneously. In order to prevent any technical difficulties due to this login rush, we will be temporarily placing severe login restrictions. These login restrictions may occur frequently, lasting from a few minutes to ten minutes; however, restrictions will be lifted in a gradual manner as login status is carefully monitored. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Furthermore, as a result of the countermeasures taken to alleviate stress on the Duty Finder servers, we expect to be able to increase the number of players able to login simultaneously; however, if those login numbers still surpass the maximum number of possible logins in the various Worlds, please be aware that we will continue to implement login restrictions.
Sorry but it should have never been a screen that gives a warning that it wont fit. It should have been a queue had that on wow long ago where queues of like 1200 people in front of you at least you would get in. How hard is it to do that instead of just full out blocking when you wanna funnel people in.
I got on without a problem on rangarok, queue of 20, then straight in without a error
100 times better than the 300 login attempts I been doing the last weeks
I am on Cerberus, same deal, logged in after 10 hour maintenance to 1017... Just finished reading the final results, and I really hope that this is just the funneling and restrictions...
** edit, kept trying and got in eventually, don't give up hope!
Got in a queue with one person ahead of me, first try.
I got put into queue of 12 when I logged in to sargatanas after maint
Just logged in but not many people are online right now.
Logged in with a que of two the first time, thought this thing was fixed, stupidly decided "oh, let me log out and try again see if I can get back on" and when I do what am I greeted with...1017! WTH? If you weren't going to do something about it why'd you kick me off for 10 hours? I thought this patch was supposed to fix that.
Got on without a cue. I imagine at intial restart there was an over rush of people.
IF people log out as expected when done, the issues should be resolved.
Patching at the moment... 1GB ... :S
Got in first try on Ultros, past few mornings were 1017 despite it being 6 AM EST. Not today though!

Give up DSWBeef.. people do not want to read, they only want to complain. At least it keeps them out of the streets ^.^
Wow.. I loged in.. No q's or anything.. Loged out.. And it placed me on a que... And today i see alot of ppl on my guild... So far so good ;)
You guys mean after they brought servers down and kicked all the afkers you can log in at 6am? Let me know when you can do the same tomorrow and we'll see if it's really fixed.
Which is stupid. I've been telling my FC since I heard about this patch that this would do nothing in regards to the 1017 error. They need to add worlds and then funnel existing characters off of the worlds they're on and onto the new ones(overall, the percentage of people that are just going to abandon their characters now is small). Aside from the coming population drop after everyones free time is over, that is the only thing that is going to alleviate the error.
WHY RESTRICT LOGINS?
It makes no sense to me, they have a queue system, why not USE IT? Like most any other mmo has.
instead of restricting logins, let us actually you know, get into the bloody queue? So we don't have to sit there hitting login over and over and over and instead can get into the queue, go do something else, and come back when it's time to get in.
That is the ENTIRE POINT of a bloody queue system, and the way SE is using it makes absolutely no sense at all.
The thing that piss me off is the message they have. "Wait until a slot is free and try again" How the f**k should I know when a spot is free when not in a queue or anything.
Worst launch ever from all +10 MMO's I played.
OMGERD! I'm getting so sick of people whining saying "why did they take the queues away?" "Why aren't they using them!" Does no one read the flippin forums? There is a reason why they took away the queues! It was causing problems because 1000's of people were all trying to log in at once. You do realize if you are in a queue, you are essentially connected to the server in SOME way. It isn't just flippin magic that holds your spot. Next time before whining that it's the "worst launch ever". Freaking take the time to read the forums, especially the one titled "LETTERS FROM THE DEVELOPER"
Maybe I just don't understand how having people placed into a queue (a line basically to get into the server) is somehow "bad" yet having those same people sitting there pinging the servers over and over and over logging in again and again is somehow better?
It would seem to me that using the queues would put less of a strain on the server and less people constantly pinging it to get in as they'd just get into queue.
You do understand a queue doesn't actually take up a ton of bandwidth/space right? It's basically some small network that tells people where they are in queue and in refreshes to them when people get in, which logically would make it (Generally) easier on a server then people constantly pinging it to get in again and again.
Furthermore they could even split them, with a queue being on a separate server then the game...so that would take care of that entire "but it's hurting the servers" aspect.
You do realize the lobby is a server with finite resources don't you? So let's say they have 30,000 people spamming to log in the lobby has to manage the queues whilst adding more people to them, the amount of connections to the lobby keeps increasing it will eventually crash, this is why we see 1017,once login restrictions start to get lifted we will see 1017 much less as the load on the lobby is alleviated.
I'll tell you how the lobby works with queues, think of one door in (the finite thoughput of the WAN) and 25 doors out (the connections to each game server) now the lobby has to get everyone coming in that one door, find out where they need to go out and place them in the correct queue, every one of these 25 queues needs to be managed (just think how annoyed you would be if you were 2nd in the queue, then 200th) using my 30,000 from before all of these 30,000 need managing, whilst more people are coming through the one door, whilst ensuring you are sending all connections out of the right door, whilst all spamming is saying "I'm sorry we are full right now please come back later." which is far easier.
If they put us all into a queue straight away the lobby would crash because it doesn't normally need to handle that kind of load.
just like servers can get full, so can queues - if there is no room on a server when you try to log in, it will put you in a queue but if there is no room in the queue when you try to log in, it will ask you to try again later because both the server and queue for the server is full
they increased the capacity of all servers and added three new servers and improved the duty finder stress load by only using small groups of servers to pool from instead of all servers
since A SHITE TON of players are all trying to get in the SMALL doors atm they have to restrict how many can wait to come in the door until only a FEW are trying to get in the door
if MORE ppl still want to play the game then can be held in the current servers they will add MORE servers
till then if you do get lucky enough to get a piece of the pie, be sure to put it in the fridge when you are not nibbling on it! (IE: dont log out unless they shut down the servers to add more servers)
The patch notes said that soon after servers open, logins will still be restricted to manage the rush...
