I'd like to start building a list of things people enjoyed in 1.0 that they'd like to see make a return in A Realm Reborn.
I'll attempt to categorize and link all suggestions (Troll/joke posts not included <<< *With exceptions [See post #2 lol]).

The grass!...(lol couldn't help myself...)
But Hmm...I would like to see NM's return that are not FATE specific.
I'd like to say that there were few things I enjoyed as much as 1.0's first person camera.
You could zoom in/out, lock-on to targets and point the camera elsewhere without it snapping back to center the moment you let go of the analog stick/mouse, it just created a great cinematic experience not matched by the current 2.0 camera.
So, what I'd like to see return is what I talked about above, as well as the ability to "run" backwards while in first person mode (currently you take on a Standard method of control while "walking" in the opposite direction of where your camera is pointed).
Definitely this. Also, classic exp party grind as an alternative to jumping from one FATE zerg to the next every 5 minutes. And the ability to buy single items (or the desired amount of them) from a stack at the markets.
(I'd say a refined version of 1.2x's combat system as well, but eh... I think that one's a lost battle now. :/)
The original soundtrack!
No, I'm not saying they should get rid of the new soundtrack, put your pitchforks down~
I'm just saying they should add in the old soundtrack, too. ALL of it! Variety is the spice of life, yes?
PLUS, wouldn't it be cool if in some future expansion, you could teleport/dimension-leap/time-travel to old 1.0 zones?
Like how you use the Cavernous Maws in FFXI to travel back to older versions of the same places! What was that called? Shadowreign or something?

(I guess with the ps3 limitations this probably won't happen, considering how huge the zones were in 1.0. But maybe they could make it work somehow with a bit more instancing and tweaking!)
I don't see why people want non-FATE NMs. The whole reason they're in FATEs is so no one has to fight over who gets the kill. I think they do need to have more meaningful drops from those FATE NMs though. What would probably make more people happy is also if they had more of these NM Fates be invisible on the map like Odin is. So it'd be just like a normal NM, but no one would have to fight over the rewards and instead be working together.
Butts... Butts on characters
I'll just leave this here (Gluteus Maximus): http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...done-about-it!
*EDIT*
Virea Stark beat me to it, lol.
That butt thread is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on the forums... and that's really saying something.
I was going to reply to this, but then I realized that it might end up derailing the thread because there are clearly a lot of people who feel very strongly about this topic (myself included).
So instead, I'll just say this: Everyone, please be civil and keep the thread on topic. If you disagree with someone (Even those you feel are trolling [Not related to above posts]) and find yourself unable to respond in a calm, collected and constructive manner, then just keep your cursor away from that reply/quote button.
I'd like harder quests back, at least the AF ones as I feel there's absolutely no pride currently in getting your AF, except maybe a little for the body part.
I'd also like to get rid of the minion or have an option to hide them, it's not a get back from 1.0 as there was no minion whatsoever, but maybe it qualifies for the said lack thereof, they ruin the atmosphere for me and I try my best to not see them.
Well to be fair, I listed it, others suggested it, and you're correct that the NM and EXP grind bits are from XI and before that EverQuest.
However, the first person camera zoom that "I" personally suggested, was never implemented in XI. In fact, we currently have a camera that behaves 95% like XI's (minus the walking backwards bit).
I would like to see FATE exp nerfed and dungeon exp boosted.
The vast majority of the original music is still used in the game.Quote:

Caravan escorts (Can we have it?)
1.0's Inertia effects were one of the things that added a lot of vibrancy and life to the game's characters. If I could pick one thing and only one thing to have back, this would be it. =D
Yoshi already confirmed we'll be getting the thing I want back from 1.0.
Hildebrand!
( I wouldn't mind younger Cid back though, seriously it's been like five years and the man doubles in age?)
Bring back the 1.0 Gridania soundtrack.
Bring back the wider variety of materia.
There were lots of really nice armor sets in 1.0 worn only by NPCs. Shame to waste those.
i agree also with more variety in materia, but also if not said already i would really like to see weapons procs to come back again. i can see primal weapons loosing them but im mean af doesn't even have procs/enchancements to further state EVEN +1 AF still doesn't have anything special....come on SE!
An area like old coerthas. Jagged mountains, lush evergreens, distant peaks forming out of the mist, not covered in stupid boring white snow.
This deals more with how the client acted in 1.0 but... I'd like to see a return to allowing more than two clients running on the same PC.
*More Information*
Currently A Realm Reborn only allows up to two clients to be launched on the same PC, whereas FFXIV 1.0 allowed as many as your PC could handle.
With it's multiple controller support, it is possible for more than one person to play on the same PC (with a maximum of two clients open, thus two people maximum), unlike in 1.0 where it only supported one controller, so no matter how many clients you opened, only one person could actively control all those open windows.
For me personally, I have 3+ active FFXIV:ARR accounts and an extremely powerful PC with 3+ monitors attached. I would love to be able to ask my friends/family to come over and just have a blast playing on the same PC as opposed to needing one PC per person or 2+1 or 2+2, etc. (whatever number of people you have divided by 2).
I believe eventually a modder will create a way to activate more than two clients, but it would be really nice to see an official version. =)
A working game.
Please add . Return meaningful leves with their designated crystals, and only leave storyquest like they are now you know go here to do etc. It's really annoying having to travel to 5 different places to do some meaningless task that has nothing to do with story. I rather have my crystals back.
Removed the instanced world, and leave it like it was in 1.0(Sorry lower hardware(PS3 players)
At least I could get back on after the game crashed in a minute or two and not days later, though I remember reading posts with people who still got stuck in instances for days back then. Wonder why they didn't fix it in a 9 month timeframe.
I never played 1.0 but I would like to see the Gobbue Mount coming back.
I would LOVE to see again the Disciples of Land gathering mini-games(improved of course), they were alot of fun, now is only click click click & more click (boring as hell).
Fishing reinstated as a class, and the mini game brought back.
Being able to mail items and gill to another of your characters.
I know they took that out to deter gill sellers, but really, it doesn't bother them at all to meet in person like a bunch of back alley crooks. I was a GM for another game once and it was a lot easier catching gold sellers when they used the mail, just look at the logs for millions of gold exchanging hands and a message simply saying "your order"
To be able to set two homepoints again, one to anything and a secondary one that can only be set to an inn room like in 1.0
A game I could log into :D
Inertia effects: I remember reading that they had to reduce or remove the inertia and some weather effects on the characters since they added more stress to the client or something like that.
Butts: While I would love to have this implemented, I read a dev post that said that adding those options will create some issues with the clothes already in the game and things won't fit really well since the current armor/clothes are designed to fit the current character models.
Admittedly the 1.xx servers would let you straight in but they also had really low population due to the game's bad reputation. Around patch time (when people would flood back to see if the game was fixed) we had the exact same problem as we do now. You could log in but good luck staying in the game for longer than 5-10 minutes. More often than not it would crash your client and give you a ton of lobby server errors before you could even attempt to log back in.
Also, they had "patch ques," that was fun...
I'm not saying what we have now is better than what we had then (it's really more of the same crap to tell the truth), but it does crash a lot less once you're actually "in" the game, at least from my experience.
Then again, I myself have only played about 8 hours tops because of the dreaded 1017, lol.

I believe the devs said they were working on an auto-sort feature for the game, we'll just have to be patient for it.
As for the icon vs. list inventory... yeah, I have to agree that I liked the list format in 1.0 a lot better, although I believe the devs have also commented on this and basicly said they have no plans to implement a list feature due to something about people playing in lower resolutions.
Response to customer support in 1.xx was, generally, much higher than in current 2.0.
I would like to see a return to Moderators and Developers addressing customer issues more often.
