I know tons of people have complained but I am literally so stupid for ever logging out. I have been sitting here for over an hour trying to log back in. Guess I'll just have to wait until midnight AGAIN to be able to even hit the queue line.

Good Luck :)
Sir I've been waiting since Thursday to log in
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when this update happens, our friends will also be able to create characters on our servers as well as help with the log in issues?
I got hit with an error at 7am, it's now 6pm and still can't get in. Probably won't get in till after midnight either, been like this since early access....and yeah it's getting old.
Yeah I haven't been able to login to NA/EU all day. But JP has been pretty much fine. So I'm just having fun on my other character there.
I've saving my complaining until after the maintenance. If on Wednesday there is major issues like this, I'm going to be on fire XD
looooooooooool
man i can't wait to play this game you guys are talking about
start
[character select]
ok

I got in queued up for Duty Finder to finish my last mission, mission started and 90k error. Before that I been spamming 0 to enter. After the boot I got queued up a few times but then it would just give me the error 1017.
You are wrong, the update will not increase the current servers' maximum connection limit. It will just add new servers so you can leave the old server(not sure if they will have transfers yet or if you just have to start over from scratch) to play on the new one.
An hour is nothing.
I got back from a 4 day vacation today to look at 6 hours of 1017 so far. Hilarious, and I was almost looking forward to playing again.
Exactly, they couldn't fix these issues in beta and open beta was a complete waste of time. Technically they've had two MONTHS to clear this up, only reason it's so bad now is that there's more people playing than before, but since they knew how many sales they had, and since open beta was for "Stress tests" they clearly had no idea what they were doing.
And now we're all paying for it, literally.
directly? no
indirectly? yes
cap of 5k online at the same time is because everyone is in the starter areas, even on legacy servers. once this thins out they will let more people online. if they didn't add more servers this just means that more new players would clock up the starter areas and nobody makes it past those or it will at least take longer.
with more servers added at least the people who don't have friends playing with them will just start on the new servers, meaning less people will try to log into the old ones. that meanspeople already on the servers (created characters) can level up easier, no longer take up space in starter areas, and more people can log in at the same time. that in turn means new characters will be creatable.
the process will likely take a few days.
you can log in every 15-30 minutes.
true story.
They do have character transfer service, you gotta pay though. Where did you find info about their expansion plans? The emails and notices I've seen posted are ridiculously vague. "we are gonna fix it, thanks for your understanding" "and the server login issues" they post 6 full pages of servers... with no info other than server names...... and the same ol above statement.
Actually you are wrong. The update will split up the duty finders into battle groups like WoW. This will put the less load on the duty servers. The main reason why they cannot let more people in is because the duty finder, which is one of the main components of storyquesting keeps crashing. Once there is less load on the duty finder, they can allow more people into their servers.

"One of the main culprits of server congestion and instability has to do with the game’s Duty Finder tool. This tool allows players to find players for group content game-wide, at the moment. But it’s this very aspect of the tool that has been causing many of the issues players are experiencing, loading the world servers such that they can’t accept additional logins or new character creations without risking detrimental effect to the server as a whole. As part of the server work going on this week, Square Enix will be breaking up servers into groups for the purposes of the Duty Finder, think World of Warcraft’s Battlegroups, for example. Once this is implemented, Mr. Yoshida tells us that world servers should be much less taxed and this will both allow for upgrades in the server concurrent user cap (so more players can login at once) and also ease restrictions on character creation. "
Yoshi posted about the server upgrade just like yesterday. Sorry on my phone so can't link. But it will both add worlds and expand old ones. Read through dev posts before you spout such dribble and inaccurately update people with wrong info.
there seems to be a bug where the gather list will not update as you level up until you log out and log back in again, so i logged out because i wanna mine silver ore...thought if i did it real fast this wouldn't happen...i was wrong...
6 hours here and no luck WTF people log off please
Pre-order sales aren't a solid figure to go on, so that's always been a bad argument (plenty of folks ordering and cancelling for early access, expected fall-offs, et cetera). Early access and open beta were also pretty terrible figures since a lot of people weren't even able to log in for those 3 days.
As far as my last comment goes: most MMORPGs suffering from server issues at launch have persisting server issues for quite some time afterward. It's rare for them to fix issues completely right from the onset. I know it's an old example, but WoW had server issues for something like a month and a half before things started to calm down and the game became playable. So expecting SQEX to beat the odds and make everything smooth in a week is wishful thinking.
And it's not fair to say they don't know what they're doing as a whole; the planning was bad, but the design is mostly solid. It's the lead programmer and the programmers in charge of infrastructure I'm doubting, here (well, and the UI guys). They've done a lot of things that just don't make too much sense.
Also: we've yet to pay for anything (outside of the game itself) since they've literally been piling on free days for each day of inconvenience. If you've already bought days, chances are they'll be pushing back the next billing period.
It took me 10 minutes of hitting the button over and over to log back in today!! TEN MINUTES!!! That is ridiculous! That is ludicrous! That is...
...Oh wait. I really don't care. Never mind. :p
Mmm, gotta get me some of that Final Fantasy MXVII
I made my user name dedicated to the game I bought. Thank God GTA V is coming out soon.
Where exactly in his letter (below) did he say that? Really I want to know cause if you are basically going to call someone a liar you may want to make sure you aren't lying yourself first... Not saying you or he is right or wrong but seriously did you even read it?
"Login Issue Update
I know many of you are still affected by the World login and character creation restrictions, so I would like to give you all a brief update on the progress of the measures we are taking to alleviate this situation.
Current Server Status
To ensure as many players as possible can log in and create characters on existing servers, our development and operations teams are monitoring server load and population around the clock, placing and removing restrictions with even the slightest fluctuation in numbers in order to maintain near-full capacity on each World. We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users. This number, however, has taxed some of our instance servers, and is causing unexpected down time here, as well.
Scheduled Maintenance for Wednesday, September 4 (Japan Time)
The addition of new Worlds, as well as the adjustments to the duty finder servers, will be complete as of tomorrow. We will then enter our final internal testing phase of these features in preparation. If the results from these tests are favorable, we will conduct an extended all-World maintenance on Wednesday (Japan time). Once the new Worlds are implemented and the duty finder server load has been redistributed over smaller World server groups, we believe that many of the login issues that players are currently experiencing will clear.
When Worlds do finally reopen after the maintenance, we expect a rush of players trying to log back in. To prevent any further login issues, we will be using the utmost caution when restarting each World. Please understand that there may be some congestion at this time.
The development and operations teams are currently dedicating their full resources to alleviating the issues at hand and providing all of our players with a stable environment in which to experience the realm of Eorzea.
Free Trial Extension
To apologize to our loyal fans who may not have been able to login or create characters during early access and the days immediately following launch, the development and operations teams are currently considering providing all player accounts with an additional seven days to their free trials. This includes non-legacy players from 1.0, who will be given new seven-day free trials. Trial extensions will be awarded after the aforementioned server maintenance on Wednesday. Details on the trial extension, including the extension period, will be released in a separate post as soon as they have been solidified.
We thank our fans again for the overwhelming support you have shown us over the past week. The response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn has well exceeded our expectations, and unfortunately resulted in our inability to provide the service which we originally intended. We humbly ask for your continued patience as we work to alleviate the issues as we truly appreciate all of our fans. We are very sorry for the frustration that has resulted from these problems.

I was fed up with the errors, but I fought to get in quite a few times the past few days. I finally gave up, but honestly I can't even be mad because of how it happened. I was with the Seven Scions doing the quest a Wild Rose by Any Other name when Minfilia introduced everyone. She then turned to me and said without any further adieu... and then the 90000 error box popped up. I laughed and just decided to wait until after maint. I spent too much time trying to log in to get to that.
I hadn't really had a problem logging back in up until today so I used to be one of those stupid (or nice) enough not to AFK all night however today I've been placed in queue twice only to be taken out of the server by 10002 or something like that =(
How does everyone like my signature?
I don't mind taking a while to log in. What's killing me is the 90000 errors. It takes an hour to get in and then I get kicked 15 minutes later. It's happened 5 times today. =/
But seriously, if you were fed up, you wouldn't be complaining on a forum and trying to log back in non stop. You'd be playing a different game.
Well, as long as it's official now, that changes everything.
The login issues is BS. If I'm lucky I can finally log in around 11pm central time. Once logged in I get about 3 hours of play time before I have to go, at which time my son tries to takes over on his character, which by the way he normally can't. Basically for 21 hours a day the servers aren't available due to their restrictions.
I don't care about their (Square-Enix's) excuses for limiting players. I paid for the game, which by law, gives me 24/7 access to the game, excluding server maintenance. Seven days of access is 168 hours that I should have to be able to play the game before the subscription costs kick in. Based on the current play time of one 3 hours, that a total of only 21 hour of play time during 7 days. That's a loss of 147 hours of access time. Based on the current limitations they've set, it would take 49 days of having 3 hours of play time per day to equal the 7 day free access.
Basically Square Enix is screwing player out of money.
