Greetings. I know, that AoE bug, when you get damage even if you went out from red round was fixed, but It was fixed not completely. First of all I want to say about situation, when you use a skill while already standing on the red round and if you will get out of it- you will still get damage- the game "thinks", that you are inside the red marking (cone-AoE to). And the second problem- the timing and skill preparings of some AoE attacks are very quick and it is almost imposble to avoid them if you stay rather close to the boss (mob)- you just have no time to run away. One of such bosse- fate boss Steropes in Central Highlands and its wide-radius almost always "oneshoot" AoE. Thank you

Been having the same issue, the Puk Hatchlings "Fireball" attack is just a circle on the ground, but if you don't leave it immediately you take damage even if you're outside of the circle when it hits. It's been the same with most weaponskills done by human enemies, especially the Marauder types. "Overpower" really hurts on a mage character and you can't escape unless you move backwards as soon as the skill comes up.

I live in an area where I only have access to 1 mb internet... I've been a healing burden on a lot of parties because I see the circles after everyone else and the game doesn't know that I've moved out of the circle in time.
Today I'm going to try my tethered phone connection to see if it's any better... But unfortunately for me, unless I move I may spend most of the important fights on my back while my party carries me to victory /sadface -

If you are still getting hit despite being over 0.5 seconds outside of the area before the animation ends, it is indicating that there is probably a bug or unoptimized code involved.Quote:

There is definitely some sort of AoE bug going on, I have ~90ms ping and I commonly experience getting hit by AoE when I'm clearly outside the red zone, even by a fair distance. It seems worse on some mobs than others, there have been some rare moments where I've made a point of running far outside the AoE and still take damage from it.

It's a latency issue, if it was an actual bug there would be 1000's more complaining about it like they did in p3 - I've had 0 issues with it since then. I have a 16 ping though.

It -could- be latency, but I have an "excellent" connection to the Balmung server and it still happens to me. Haven't looked at my ping when that happens, but I'd say I'm definitely below 50 on any given day.

I can run WAY outside of an AoE the moment I see it and still take damage when it goes off, that's not a latency issue if I have time to run that far and still take the hit. 90ms ping is a pretty good connection as well.
I've mainly experienced it while doing my hunting logs, don't think it's ever happened to me in an instance. -

As for me- I know 1 thing: the game mechanics in case of AoE is still inaccurate even when develorers fixed it- fixed, but not at all. While playing the game I want to fight whith mobs and bosses and I don't want to "fight" with in-game technical problems. I'm sure in my skills, but they can not save me some times- it is not my fault, but fault of game code or whatever. I'm sad because of it

Going to point something out.
there is a feature in aoe attacks that im going to dub for this explanation-attack lock. There is a point between the start of the aoe and the attack itself after the circle disappears in which youll the atack will "lock-on" per say. At that point, it doesnt matter if you are out of the circle-zone or not. You'll be hit with the attack. I've seen that most victims of attack lock are those that try to finish casting/attacking before moving. Its matter of not moving to beat the attack lock timer.
Now I will say that attack lock can be frustrating/unforgivable at times. there are some monsters with an aoe circle big enough to where you have to move as soon at it shows or youll be locked. Now if you're out of the circle and its still up for a tiny bit, then that is probably not attack lock, but instead a bug. If you move out of range as the circle vanishes or vanishes immediately after you move out of range, thats attack lock. -

What I've learned is if you're are still standing in the red target circle/cone/line when it starts fading away, you will ALWAYS get hit by the attack even if you're visually 30 miles away from it or even behind the mob. Most people expect the hit confirmation to happen AFTER this attack animation ends. How it works right now is game decides you're hit 2 or so seconds before the attack animation finishes.
Red target cone starts to fade > you run and you're visually behind the mob 20 or so meters away > 2 seconds later the dragon actually does fire breath attack after a big wind-up you still get hit.
This is even worse with abilities that don't have that red visual thing like those bosses with laser beams. You can't tell if the game already thinks you're already hit because you could be way outside of the beam on your screen but of course you're still hit. The mechanics of how it all works just makes the game feel unresponsive and laggy. -
