FFXIV:ARR stops working

I have not found anyone getting the problem that I'm having the way and I'm getting it.

I can log into the game just as well as anyone else. But I get " Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." at random while I'm playing the game. It doesn't happen due to alt+tabbing like some people have been getting. So why is this happening to me? I did build this new computer last week. My old computer played FFXIV with zero problems.

Windows 7 x64
Geforce GTX 660 Ti (latest driver 320.49)

I've tried running without admin and with admin, getting C++, Java, and made sure windows was up to date.

Try re-installing the client.

I get this error when I'm trying to get back to the game after using the Alt+Tab combination to check something else on the PC. The game crashes and I have to load it all over again (with the 1017, queues and everything you can imagine attacking me).

I'm having the same problems as you, and reinstalling the client hasn't helped one bit.

this is usually due to something on your pc conflicting with the game. i would check that all drivers are up to date and also if you have an anti virus, make sure its not one that conflicts with certain games, i have had anti virus programs cause serious problems with some games. but this is definitely not caused from the game its self i am certain of that so i would start with the suggestions i have made and see if you make any progress with that.

Though it may not help I re-installed the game client. I also got the latest audio driver for my system. Once I get past the full server, I'll test it out and see if the game randomly stops working again.

I've had the same thing happen twice to me now, too.

I almost get the feeling though it has nothing to do with your hard- or software. I have been running the game smoothly without a single crash every day since launch. Suddenly, when the stress on the servers gets worse during weekend prime time hours, I get it twice (once on saturday evening, once today a few mins ago), both times while inside an instance. Seems more like a connection problem provoked from the server overload that ultimately happens to crash your entire client for whatever reason. Too bad crashing at this time of day usually means no more logging in for the next 5-6 hours, so might as well enjoy the day outside, come back tomorrow.

So far the game has not stopped working since I tried those last few things. Maybe the problem is gone for good.

I cant even get past the launcher and I'm getting that error. Out of nowhere yesterday my game just stopped launching. I patched nothing, changed nothing about my computer, etc. I've reinstalled twice now and it hasn't fixed anything

I've played several hours without the gaming closing due to it stop working. I just had the game stop working and close like it has been. Is there no solution?

Then I logged back into the game, and it wasn't 5 minutes the game stopped working again.

This problem is still happening. Someone please give me an answer to fix this once and for all.

I can't find any other ideas to fix this.

Many players are having such issue with their clients. I believe that, somehow, this issue is related to the performance loss that some high-end rig users are also facing. That leads me to believe that it's a client related issue.
I doubt SE will look into this before all that mess with server/connections are solved once and for all.

Having the same issue as well. Reinstalling the client and updating drivers did not resolve the issue. I can log in just fine like you, but the crashes happen at seemingly random times. I can't find any way to replicate the crash other than simply playing the game.

I'm having the exact same problem all of a sudden.

I'm having the same problem... on both of my characters... at the exact same spot in the game (just after receiving the quest "It's Probably Pirates").

Same here. I'm about to lose it. I've never had this happen, now out of the blue it crashes every time I log in with each of my characters. I'm at my wits end with this game!

Is there a fix for this yet?

Judging by the issue itself, and the fact SE has said nothing about it, a fix is likely some ways off, considering it's likely a flaw introduced to the client between Beta 3/4 and Early Access, since there are no reports on it before that point and several people never had the issue and now do.

If I had to say, when we do get a response from SE, it will be the 'this will be fixed in patch 2.1' that most other issues that don't effect a huge percentage of the population have gotten.

your mileage may vary, but i was constantly getting the "stopped working" randomly, several times a day, and just for the hell of it i went and downloaded/installed my motherboard's audio/networking drivers and i haven't crashed in 4 days. I had been using the default windows ones and had never gotten my board's official stuff since last time i reinstalled windows.

I've already got the latest drivers for my motherboard's audio/networking drivers and still get crashes at random.

Seriously! Seriously?! Seriously? Is there no solution to this?

BTW, you're very far from being the only one with this problem

Having this same problem as well. However, i did notice i'm using the same video card as you. Maybe its a Nvidia thing as well. Drivers are all updated though. Hopefully they fix it soon.
