Festivals: We have city states, but every festival is a world wide event.

It seems since Starlight (which I thought was awesome until I saw Starlight was ripped from XI), the whole land of Ezorea has been in a constant state of celabration. Personally I am fine with having a few world wide events:

Starlight - Around christmas I loved the music and the look of the cities, best event so far in my opinion.

Valentines day - The event seemed a bit poor, but the real event is a bit poor too in my opinion.

Easter - I have not really tried this one, but I am happy for it to be a world wide event.

Now, each city we currently inhabit respresents a city-state, and I feel they should each have a unique event to that state. After all does Japan have the same events as the UK, or US? For example, I feel Heartstrum, should have been a unique event to the city with the samurai guild (if they introduce that class). Ladies day could have easily been a Japanese spring festival event and localised to say Gridania, because of the cities connection to the great forest.

Those though are just examples for the ones which already exist. You could further this idea, by giving events a specific disciple for which the event is based. For example, Uldah is said to be a trade city, so having an event for DoH specifically has its unique event.

In conclusion I would like to see the ideas of events expanded on naturally. Some of them felt half finished, Ladies day was my number one example for this. They Cherry Blossom trees looked good, but the confetti did nothing. I also firmly believe cities should have their own events, it may move players around the map, but mostly it would make it feel like each city-state, is its own state with its own identity.

Perhaps they could use festivals as a way of getting people out of Ul'dah for once, I agree.

This isn't 3 countries its city-states. Meaning they all celebrate the same holidays. And yes alot of countries celebrate similar holidays.

Having all 3 cities celebreate makes it easier to do the event content. I wouldn't want to travel all over just to do events.

The difference between city states is palpable, each with overtly different customs. So it stands to reason they would not share the same traditions when it comes to festivals, with perhaps a few exceptions.

Not to bring the whole "you've still yet to play FFXIV" thing up but traveling for city to city is incredibly easy. Walking it should take 25 minutes max, easily doable in under 20 if you catch the ferry right.

you can only add so much realism in a game so it sticks to being a game.
adding too much realism crosses that line.

aka out of conbience of players all 3 city states share all holidays. ummm don't care i much rather be in my home nation or w/e nation i'm at and not have to leave it. Kinda need to draw the line here cuz its a game guys... No need to be snotty.

Sometimes a festival might be improved by making it specific to one city-state though, rather than having to bastardise it for the sake of convenience. To be honest, I couldn't care less about what they do, but I just saw an opportunity for SE to give more life to Eorzea by making meaningful festivals which help flesh out the city's lore, and also to encourage people to go to cities they might otherwise never go to (Gridana and Limsa are easily forgotten these days).

The three city-states are so near each other, their cultures are rather similar. Not surprising if they all have the same seasonal events.

I also don't want SE working on three different seasonal events for every season.

They're doing a good job of tying the current event into the game's lore. The whole 12 eggs thing has me speculating a lot of different possible outcomes for this event. Can't help but wonder if they've somehow tied this event into the game beyond just fun for Easter, which would be really cool.

It's a matter of convenience. Simple as that.
