I just wanted to say that I love the death sytem - A WHM

I just wanted to say that I love that a lot of people need resurrections in this game. I remember in FFXI how much I loved just wondering around leveling areas and helping random people as a WHM, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do that in XIV.

Having it this way really brings the community together because there are so many people willing to help out their fellow players. Just a few minutes ago someone asked for a raise and a few seconds after I got there to resurrect him/her, five other CON/WHM showed up to help. It makes me happy after playing all these other MMO's with toxic communities for so long, that this one has a community willing to help each other out like the good old days of FFXI.

Sorry if this seems like a pointless thread, but I just wanted to add something positive since there has been so much negativity on here lately.


I'm curious, has anyone else find anything that they love about this game that is overlooked by most?

Theres some random nice healers/players on Ultros and Phoenix - I've been "cured" a few times by randomers but not brought back from KO.
Anyway I want to say THANK YOU to anyone whoes healed Zack Hyrule [Ultros] or Milmoko Gemoko [Pheonix], sorry I didnt thank you in game as i didnt know who you where and im still getting to hang of sending messeges to players as well - I'm a MMO n00b so please be paitent :D

and then if you do it despite them spamming, they simple get up and walk away without so much as a thanks.

I agree! Sometimes after I raise or heal someone, they'll even help me take down my monsters without needing or asking them to. :) There are always those who still ignore, or spam ask, though. They are easy enough to ignore.

I love that feel, always. XD

Just a note to those needing a raise, please remember to be specific and to use auto translate when possible.

Here's an example shout that'll probably get you raised every time:
/sh <Raise> <Can I have it?> <Please assist.> <pos> <Thank you>

The <pos> part identifies where in the zone you are so that people can click on it to put a flag to you on their map, making it easy to find you. The rest are all auto translate words and phrases, so that even if you and your potential raiser don't speak the same language, the message can still get through. Manners also helps a lot ^_^

I raise people if I can but it can be very disheartening if people don't say where they are and then rage when people trying to help them can't find them.

I love when I can actually play. Can't wait for the server fix next week.

Well given that you can hop on your chocobo in the field and arrive to the place to raise someone generally in less than two minutes, the way this game works makes it a lot less of an inconvenience to go raise someone. Also it's level 12 CNJ ability so it doesn't take long to acquire and a lot of people equip it when playing other mage jobs so it's far more common. It's not so much an effect of the death system... moreso a side effect of the ability to raise being more common and the game being set up such that it's not a major inconvenience to do so.

Sounds like a Ul'dah White Mage has found an interdemention rift between XI & XIV.

On Behemoth while I'm running around questing and stuff I constantly run past people fighting something and you can see their hp is too low and their gonna die so I dismount and heal them though it they always thank me and if I'm there doing the same part of the quest they will usually stick around and help me kill my quest mob, in general the community on Behemoth is pretty friendly like that.

Hahah, even on PLD I keep Raise on while just casually traveling cause it can help people out. I enjoy it too.

Agreement to you! It helps you feel good about your choice to go the healer route. No longer is it just "I'm useful in a dungeon...that's about it." People want to bring you along at all times, help you quest, and assist you as much as you would them in their time of need. Who knew that no level penalty would still be as effective. People don't want to teleport home, then teleport out, then mount up and ride. A one minute debuff is well worth the res. xD

As a tank I love when im doing open world content and receive random heals.My question is if I am fighting a random creature in open world and get healed does the healer receive exp. for assisting in the fight? If they dont they should as a way of saying thank you.

i can't wait til i get resurrection as an arc, if i understand this correctly, i can use it in combat...which will be useful in fates.
course it's hard for me to res people cus most just teleport back after they die. i target them, get ready to cast and they are gone.
when i got res i looked all around for people in need of res...couldn't find anyone.

but i often find people to heal so that's nice...wish i could randomly buff people like in 1.0 (i loved finding someone fighting a tough fight and healing them, then putting on stone skin, then shell, and some others i can't recall. or just doing that to random folks i found along the way...felt good)
i need to do something about my low mind though...i got lots of int but low mind i don't know why...might be my race...but as a result my heals aren't that good.

as a person who does that from time to time i can say: no, we do not.

This game makes it really obvious if you are bad in dungeons.

I am glad I read this thread. I was unsure if it was acceptable to ask for raises (I see people shout all the time, thought it might annoy healers). :3

Then you go to help people out in a FATE, and they pull to many, don't hold aggro and you die. Then instead of spamming you would think they would just raise you, but they don't. In fact others come by raise their friend and then just leave you there.

So much for trying to be helpful.

I've had the opposite though, people thanking me after I raise them. Evens out I guess.

Arcanists have a resurrection too! I also don't mind helping others out when they ask and it is the reason I've kept shout on despite the diatrabe I've seen in some zones.

I do wish folks would stop with the "Can I have it?"s. Oftentimes it's not even clear what they want.

While the title is maybe a little poorly worded XD -- I still agree with all the sentiments here. I loved helping people out with Raises in FFXI, and never charged for it. Here on XIV, it makes me happy that even if I'm a short distance away from a Raise request, I'll usually get beaten to it by someone else. I've been on the receiving end of it too once--a really kind soul actually dismounted, changed classes, and waited around to Raise me. Maybe I'm just lucky in the people I've met in ARR, but a good community is the lifeblood of any successful MMORPG. So I'm happy to see all the makings of one here.

Noticed constant raise requests on Balmung. And people responding right away. It's nice to see so much co-operation.
