But it is the same game, the same character, same server. It is stupid that i cant log in on ffxiv pc client if i buy already the game.
You acting like this is the only game that dose that. Loads of games do it, if you buy the PS3 version of let's say Assassins Creed II doesn't mean you can play it on the X-box nor should they give you one for free. Also it costs them money to make Disc, send it off, packaging etc. It's just how things are.
I already have the pc client because my wife buy it for pc but if i try to log in on her pc i cant beacuse it ask me to buy another game of one account that already pay. I know that in other games this will be stupid. But this is a MMO and SE let to do this on FFXI, you can buy game and expansions for PS2 and can log your account on friend's pc client.
You might as well get use to it. These are some of the things developers are coming up with to limit game sharing and piracy. Your game is linked to your service account. They know you are trying to access your account through different platform than you have registered.
ok i understand all you are saying and it will be valid if the game off one payment like guild wars... but you have to pay every month. In this case game sharing and piracy it out of terms ._.
I'm with you Kangaro. After playing FFXI for 7 years on all three platforms, and having been with FFXIV since alpha, I too was disappointed I'd have to buy a PS3 client (even after ALREADY having it on my PS3 thanks to phase 4 beta). The best reason I can think of as to why SE is JUST NOW doing this is that they want compensation for the writing two different software packages, even if it is of the same client, connecting to the same server, paid for by the same monthly subscription.
RE: piracy. The client software, regardless of platform, is no good without a SE account. Piracy isn't an issue. Phishing, RMT, and so on, are MMO issues. But not client software piracy.
At least it's only $39.99.
Could be worse. ESO is going to be more a month ($14.99), AND is going to cost $59.99 for each version.
I agree though. I have the PC version, but I'd like to be able to play on my PS3 when my partner needs the PC. Oh well, it will eventually be cheap on Amazon, I'm sure.
this and also:
Sony: "we won't be hosting that big ass client with tons of gigs in our datacenter wasting our bandwidth for free! gib moni nao or i ban u".
SE: "Ok i give you money. *evil plan* But I'll charge my players for it, so I can pay Sony and have a piece for myself. ~~Also because was a pain to make the client for PS3 with that awful little amount of ram to deal with."
There is no need of Sony let it download client, in my case i buy the ps3 game but i want to play on pc too. SE has no need to privide pc client for free but my wife already buy it so i cant install it without SE help. But even SE post a link for download pc client
well if I say this is because SE we had used to that with FFXI. I know it's a different game but the same company
That was also 11 years ago.
Let me sum it up for you as simply as possible.... PS3 =/= PC
