What fixes are going to be implemented for the overpopulated servers?

First off, I want to say that this is not a complaint, but rather a general inquiry.

I am curious as to what fixes are going to be implemented to help fix the general login issues that have been plaguing this game every evening during peak hours. Having a team to manually change the player limit on a server is not a sustainable fix for the long run. There are two main issues that need to be addressed: the number of servers, or an actual working queue system.

I understand that during a launch of any MMO, there will be a greater influx of users and they will gradually dwindle down over time, so upgrading hardware and adding more servers may be unnecessary in the long run.

Is there any work being done to fix the queuing system at the moment? Instead of mashing the login button over and over again to get the message "World is full - try again later", users would be much more receptive to waiting in a lineup to get in.

Sadly you are asking a question that people have been asking since EA.

Dude NA/EU be in dark for weeks or a month; sadly SE wants this game to fail.

Oh I know, and their twitter account isn't of any help either. Saying "we're manually changing the amount of people who can log in" is discomforting. I'd rather a statement of whether or not they're upgrading the hardware to accommodate more players, or if they have a team working on a fix for a queue system.

They don't wish to accommodate NA/EU they just don't care. They're customer service it terrible and there lack of communication is spot on, they have shown little interest in addressing this issue. For the time being looks like we either can ride it out and hope for the best or just unplug and maybe try in another 6 months but either way it's not gonna look good in the reviews.

Well, generally there is little reason to add more service and hire more people. A lot of players usually leave after their free time is up and you sit there with all that unneeded server power and under-occupied support employees.

I am surprised it is that bad though. I mean with the not so well start of the old XIV I assumed they would try to make "A Realm Reborn" as smooth as possible. But despite testing with a lot of people, they failed to deliver on the first day. And as it is with most things, your first impression counts.

Don't worry, they're adding more servers.

In Japan.

A little communication to the NA/EU playerbase about plans would be fantastic and calm alot of peoples worries I think.

Exactly, this is all that I want. I'm on the verge of quitting because there has been such a lack of communication that it seems that their Public Relations team is incompetent. As much as I'd like to play with friends, I'm sure our time could be better spent with other things, rather than clicking login a million times to play for ten minutes before getting disconnected.

WTH, japan gets more servers and NA/EU does not. Hell, we have more players combined than japan does, we should get the new servers. :(

You're right. It's unfortunate that they're ignoring such a large segment of their potential market. There are tens(hundreds?) of thousands of players from NA/EU regions that are willing to pay $15 dollars a month. Square Enix could take less than 1% of that income for one month and be able to afford new hardware, new servers, and more developers. By choosing to ignore those potential subscribers, they are throwing a good chunk of that income away.

Oh well!

Was the topic in Tech Support about the new servers for JP, but none for NA/EU, deleted? I can't find it anymore. Looks like we're getting the run around.

The one in general has been deleted. I sent this to Kotaku and Joystiq so maybe to get some more light on this and a response from SE.

Having players ready to rage quit the minute of official launch isn't a good sign SE. Perhaps you should READ your forums and address the issues?

I logged on this morning and saw a thread on the launcher about them upgrading stuff this week or next week I don't remember. It was dated 8/26/13, right now I am at work so I can't quote the text but maybe someone at home can verify this info from the launcher?

Agreed. I see other threads where users are saying "Oh it's the first day, give them a break, they'll get around to it." While it is true, and it is totally acceptable to have issues during a launch, but showing no form of communication with the players is a huge red flag.

World of Warcraft would go down every Tuesday, and have countless issues every time they launched a new expansion, but no one batted an eye. The reason is because Blizzard informed the players of exactly what was happening, why it was happening, and what they were going to do to fix it.

Complete optimist here. Maybe they are just putting new servers up on JP side, as the master server / connection queues work vasty better than the US servers. I'd take a little lag for a consistent login.

I completely agree however that communication to the fanbase (of all regions) needs to improve. Spamming updates on Twitter isn't an acceptable means, when you have a dedicated forum full of people looking for a status.

Pin a thread when common issues come up, have a moderator confirm it as an issue, leave it at that until fixed. Marginal improvement to your player base.

I agree. It's a good idea to set expectations. Look at today's announcements. JP gets an announcement that new servers will be a go next week to help with their congestion. EU/NA get announcements that more locking down of resources is happening, with no end in sight while they 'work on the problem, so sorry.'

That last part is what we have been hearing since EA. 'we're working on it, so sorry'. And each time, the problem has not only not been fixed, but magnified. So more draconian measures are implemented. With the same explanation.

People would moan in WoW, even with the explanations, but the more reasonable people would be satisfied. Really, Im reasonable. And tech savvy. Talk to us about what you are doing and set expectations. That will placate many people.
