Anyone at all?
What's you computer specs?
Intel I7 4770k
Sapphire HD Radeon 7970
Sabertooth z87 Mboard
120gb SSD
1TB HDD
Think that should be all thats relevant.
Similar issue for me too. Here is my post about it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...sh-BSOD-issues
Just a couple questions for you:
1. Have you gotten any blue screens of death while playing?
2. How exactly does the game behave when the issue occurs? Does it immediately crash? Does the game freeze but still stay running until it closes? Can you still hear the music and other items going in the background when it freezes/crashes?
3. How long can you go before this happens? Does it happen after a certain amount of time (say an hour or so)? Does it vary? Does it do it every single time you are logged in or only sometimes?
4. Have you checked your Windows Event Viewer for any errors thrown? Can you if you haven't? I'd be interested in seeing what Windows may have recorded there for the crash. I would look in the System and Application sections
If you aren't familiar with Event Viewer you can check it by doing the following:1. Click the "Start" button.
2. Right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage" in the right-click context menu.
3. In the left-hand panel expand "Event Viewer."
4. Expand "Windows Logs."
5. Select "System." Scroll the list and note anything with a red error icon.
6. Select "Application." This is the important one really.
7. Look at the time stamps and match them up with the time the game crashed. Check to see if there is an error message. If there is, try posting it in the thread for comparison purposes. The message may look something like this:Faulting application name: ffxiv.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5215cce1
Faulting module name: ffxiv.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5215cce1
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x007cd875
Faulting process id: 0x2238
Faulting application start time: 0x01cea1252b339068
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\ffxiv.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\ffxiv.exe
5. Also, what type of hardware are you using? CPU? Motherboard? RAM? Video Card? Are you using the latest driver for your video card? Have you updated the chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard?
6. Are you completely up-to-date on Windows Updates? Have you installed any new ones in the past few days? Are you running any anti-virus software?
Sadly, with the forum being flooded with posts complaining about the server maintenance and login restrictions (which shouldn't be in this forum seeing as there's nothing that tech support can do about it; it's a decision that was made well above their heads), I wouldn't expect to get any help any time soon.
I have the same this has stopped working issue, I also have a 7970. It seems quite a few others also have 7970 as well and this issue. I'm almost sure it is DX related.
So ....
1. I havent had any blue screens of death.
2. The game just stops running when it crashes. Screen freezes, but just the game. Then the error box pops up and then the game shuts down and says windows trys to find a solution but doesnt. As for hearing music im not sure
3. The game crashes at random intervals, iv played for a few hours or for a few minutes. Unfortunately with login issues its hard for me to say since I havent had much play time.
4. I looked at windows event viewer for last two days. There were no errors that were related to FFXIV.
5. I have tryed updating all of my drivers on my PC. But There could be ones i missed. Like the bios.
6. I have ran and updated windows 8. And I do have norton anti virus and ad-aware.
Also worth noting That I have played battlefield 3 quit often for past week or so before launch on my PC and it had no crashing problems.
anybody else
i get a black or white screen at random times.
not sure what my problem is. computer's specs are able to handle the game with ease, and i dont think anything is overheating.
nothing weird happens when my screen blacks out, just goes black and i have to manually shut down and turn on the computer again.
anybody else have the same problem?
nVidia card? Which driver are you using? Does this issue happens only in FFXIV?
I'm asking that because nVidia drivers have showed up to be a bunch of garbage since 3xx.xx and up release for many and many people. One of the most recurring problem is the "screen going black for 1~2 seconds and then going back to normal OR freezing on the black screen and demanding hard reset". As well as kernel driver mode crash.
Some many other guys are reporting crashing issues with FFXIV client since P4, you can check them here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...topped-working
Also, IMO, I do believe it's client related issue since many other graphic problems seems to be emerging, like stuttering, low FPS in high-end rigs and so on...
yea, im using a gfx 660 ti...
p4 ran perfectly fine...i deleted the client i reinstalled for ea, screen goes black at a certain point and i have to restart the computer.
or sometimes it freezes, goes out of window and comes back, but no sound and choppy lagging graphics.
dont have any other games to test other the league of legends, but never had problems there.
so do i just wait this problem out for an updated driver?
I found this out but I am not sure if it will work yet.
Check your error logs. I checked mine, and the code read nvd3dum.dll
When I went to check to see if I had any drivers that I needed downloaded it said I was good to go. But the recommended steps are to delete all previous driver downloads, download the most recent and try from there. I am not sure if this will work but I am all out of options.
I get this problem after ~10 minutes of game play. Think the best option at the moment is don't register your retail code for the game, put it to one side, go play BF3, and come back to it in 2-4 weeks.
That's what I'm doing.
Yeah, spent 70 minutes getting in and then zoned once to get an unexpected error. Annoying because I cant test more things because I cant get in.
Happens to me too. I rolled back my drivers from 13.8 to 13.6 It seems to fix it but im not getting as good of FPS as i was.
yea, i've already tried this. still end up with my screen going black and forced to turn off and restart my computer.
strange, thing is, when i play the game at a pc cafe with computers with almost identical build, the game runs perfectly fine.
don't know what the problem could be.
Well i have a XFX 7970. I found that the newest video card drivers 13.8 did not work good with 14. the 13.6 beta drivers work nicely. Just google 13.6 beta drivers if you have a AMD / ATI card. Ive no clue about Nvidia cards though. Sadly when 13.8 was not giving me a black screen and random FPS on 2 then the game crashes i got very nice FPS. Better then with the 13.6 drivers, but no crashing haha
I've been having the issue with black screens intermittently since P4. Screen goes black for a couple seconds, then comes back. All's fine after that. Except just a bit ago, it did that then completely crashed, and with this whole 1017 business, that is just...not fun. Especially when you have people you are static leveling with who now have to twiddle thumbs or go craft or something until you slay the Login Boss.
My specs aren't top of the line, but:
i7 2600k @ 3.40 GHz
nVidia Geforce 460 GTX (EVGA branded) 1GB. Two of these, SLI enabled, but SLI isn't working in FFXIV because I'm still using 314.22.
Driver, as stated 314.22, because 320+ gives me random freezing issues in Firefox, weird cursors, deteriorated performance in GW2, and a blue screen here and there. I've tried several of them, they have all sucked. I am not attempting another upgrade until I hear from several sources that the things actually function and aren't going to melt something down. Because of this SLI isn't working in XIV, so all my load is on one card. So suggesting to upgrade them isn't much of an answer, unless nVidia has released one in the past 24 hours that I haven't yet given the chance to destroy my system.
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64 Bit
Yes, I got the update for the update that broke XIV's (and other games') videos.
It is worth noting, I've used 314.22 without a single black screen, blue screen, or game crash of any kind, since they came out. Excellent FPS and performance. Solid driver. This includes GW2, SWTOR, LotRO, Skyrim with graphical and lighting mods, Borderlands 2, etc etc. No issues. This black screen flickering is only happening in FFXIV despite the temps of the cards being the same as they are in any of my other games when at load.
When these crashes happen, I note in EVGA Precision that the card usage spikes abruptly from it's norm to 100%, and there are errors in Event Viewer about Process 4 requesting to disable Desktop Window Manager. On a whim I turned off Aero to see if this would stop the problems, but it didn't. My PC can handle Aero and gaming, it's done it for a couple of years now, but I tried it anyway. No dice. In fact after turning it off the game just slams to desktop when the black screens occur now. There are no errors that occur at the same time stating that the vid card drivers are actually resetting or failing, which I find odd, as this seems like a driver crash. From where I stand, especially given that these issues are happening across both AMD and nVidia and separate driver sets, this seems to be more a bug in the client than a problem with the hardware or drivers.
Crashing w/a an AMD 6850. Have to hard restart in order to play. Usually happens when I zone into a dungeon or view a cutscene. Only game where this has happened.
After doing everything I fixed the problem you are having. The early access client I downloaded and played starting giving me ...has stopped working... window every time I loading into the game. I received an email with a link to download the client for preordering but disregarded cause I already had the client downloaded from early access. Seeing how I tried everything..my last attempt was to uninstall and reinstall using the NEW email link for the client. Now no more problems with ... has stopped working. Played my first full day without problem.
Short story, if you are getting Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working, uninstall and reinstall. Worked for me. Hope this helps!
I'm also getting random crashes.
After one of them my system said it was a bluescreen error (I never see a blue screen, just everything freezes)
I checked the event manager log thing and noticed a bunch of these errors. Dunno if they are related or not:Quote:

Seem to be showing up before I had the problem with FFXIV though but are showing up roughly when I'm playing FFXIV and having a problem (could just be coincidence)
System:
Intel i7 920 2.67GHz overclocked to 3.5GHz
NVIDIA GTX285
6GB RAM
Having no problems with any other game or program on my system (well, Firefox isn't playing youtube video sound but It's probably a plugin issue). FFXIV is the only one that leads my system to crash at random times. Seems to only happen when it is the focused window and seems less likely to happen if I regularly focus on another window though not always.
There needs to be a new driver soon to fix this...
This is the problem I am having, with the nvd3dum.dll; though it's not limited to FF14. Tried reinstalling driver, even reinstalled OS at someone else's suggestion; still happens. I'm checking out all my hardware now since it still happens after reinstalling the OS; hope to see more about this soon.
