ARC as healer.

I don't know why this hasn't been assessed by dev.

But why can't we queue up as healer as arc. I can sub all my whm skills to be just as good at low levels. And at 30 I can pick up scholar which is a healing class.

As it is right now I'm basically running the dungeons as a whm just to get the clear and questing to lvl on my arc.

If scholar is meant to be a healing class. People should be taught how to play as a healer. I mean that is what the dungeons are for right? Learning experiences and all that?

Did Ifrit and Halatali last night with Maurader (me), Archer and 2 Arcanist's healing/dpsing.

Although it worked surprising well with Ifrit. It was pretty touch and go in Halatali. Had 1 wipe because Physick just isn't as good as cure. Maybe the Arcanist's didn't put their attributes in Mind?

But I definitely wouldn't go 1 arcanist as healer in a party.

I think he means Arcanist. He's mistakenly using ARC (Archer) instead of ACN (Arcanist)

even if he means Arcanist, it's still no healer

White mage isn't a healer?

Lack of AoE heal is crippling in few situations.

it depends if you know your job. I did a 3 man raid in toto-rak with 2 carby tanks and 1 white mage. its not a healing class. as of now its the dancer class of the game. equip stoneskin abilty and let your carby tank while you are dot'ing the mob. that's what I did.

So many people are going to mistake, already seeing it in-game plenty of times :P
I took 15 mins to learn all the abbreviations in this game and it really sticks to the head quick.

I went through a couple of the lower level dungeons as tank with 2 DDs and an ACN (so 3 DDs), the only real way to make ACN effective in this type of role imo is to shed hate onto the pet while the ACN slowly heals you (just my experience). It's not a healer.

I don't know why you can't queue as heals up to huakke manor. I have healed every dungeon up to there with my ACN with no problems. Even in some of the worst PuG's I had no problem healing. Tanks that tunnel vision and do not get aggro on all the mobs, I am still able to heal everyone. When I hit 30 I got my SCH and went back to toto rak and lol my healing fairy was able to heal the entire dungeon in a PuG while I DD'd. If my fairy can heal a dungeon...... The scary part is if you get an ACN that has no idea what they are doing as heals, this will make for a failed run.

On top of everything if you are going to go SCH you should be putting u'r pts in MND, which makes it even easier.

Slowly heals you lol, I could let the tank get down to <20% health and bring him back up to full in like 2 -3 heals.

Yes sorry. I meant arcanist. And it's not a healer? Seriously? Coulda sworn it was told differently. Scholar is a healing class.

Phsyic does just about the same amount as cure. Medica? If you don't have a bunch of tards trying to solo their own mobs what's the use?

Sub whm skills. I get protect raise cure. It's a viable healer at low levels like i said in my original post.

So what exactly was the point of adding yet another DPS class then? It's painfully obvious that this game lacks healer jobs thus why the dual role for arcanist was released first.

Because it's not a healer. Scholar is a healer, but not arcanist. Arcanists aren't healers in much the same way that conj isn't a DPS class. Just because you can doesn't mean you can do it well, which is what the queuing seems to be based on. Best fit, if you will.

But if I am going to have to put all of my skill points in MND as I level up because I am going to be a SCH, which will gimp me for leveling I should be able to queue as healer. Or they should make cleric stance from CNJ available to the ACN as well.

It does not really matter to me as I have my SCH now but I it would have been much easier if I could have queue'd as a healer for the first 30 levels.

The thing people seem to keep forgetting about Cleric Stance is that when it is active, in addition to flipping INT and MND, you have a 10% increase to spell power and a 20% decrease to healing power. I haven't seen the math yet that shows just how much MND you'd need to gain to override that potency reduction.

But you would be using cleric stance the same way as a CNJ if you are putting all of your pts in MND leveling to become a SCH.

By that standard, a THM with those three skills is a viable healer - and in fact, if they toss out the occasional Blizzard, they have much better MP regeneration to go with the larger MP pool. The DF simply isn't smart enough to look at what abilities the player has equipped.

ETA: I'm not addressing the ridiculous extension of "with those abilites, DoW classes can heal, too", given their MP puddles.

There are three problems with ACN healing:

1 - They don't have the same amount of MND as WHM. I noticed my heals in were 2/3rds as powerful as the WHMs. I noticed in Cooperbell when our healer when AFK and the tank pulled trash, that I had a much harder time keeping the tank up than as a WHM.

2- They don't have any AoE heals. Now this isn't nearly as important during the first three dungeons, but there are some situations where it may be needed.

3 - No debuff removal. Poison isn't much of a threat I found, just throw in a cure for much cheaper, but paralyze on either you or the tank is killer.

Now the problem is that if they made ACN has powerful of a healer as WHM in the early levels, then there would be no point in bringing a WHM as they would have a pet dps/tank and nearly infinite MP.

This is how the devs seem to have decided to go with the class/job system, one starting class with one role and then at lvl 30 two branching jobs with one being the same role and the other being different. We'll probably see more of this when they release more jobs in the (hopefully) near future.

From what I've seen, ACN's healing ability draws waaaaaay too much hate to be used as a healer. Seems like you can get away with using it a couple times, but not viable to main heal.

And get this guys, the limit break for archer is healing lol

Well you really didn't have to call me out about it but letting a tank go down to 20% in a boss tank and "bringing him back up" has more to do with just casting heal (he's probably taking dmg in the mean time). You don't have a fairy yet. Get a fairy, you're a healer, until then, you're just another class which can cross-class cure.

I actually joined an Ifrit thinking I was DPS with a Warrior, Lancer, and Monk. I was ACN. I panicked, but during the fight I found it extremely interesting to heal as ACN. When I take dmg, I can use my Energy Drain to get a quick heal, off of a GCD. Allowing me to also combo in a Physick with just a quick click. It's actually a lot of fun...thinking about it now. I wish I could queue as a healer in a light party.

Why do everyone mean Archer is a healer? oO

Because sometimes you need to break away from what the tank is fighting to go deal with some adds. The bosses of Hata-whatever-it's-called are a good example of this: people taking damage simultaneously because they have to deal with adds.

On top of that, Arcanists don't get access to a debuff-removal spell (Scholars do, but that's not the point). Conjurers get Esuna at level 18, and while you may not use it all that much, removing a Poison DoT or a Paralyze can be really important in the long run.

Plus, the Protect that every other class has access to is inferior to the Protect that Conjurers get, as Conjurers have the Proshell passive, which adds Magic Defense on top of the default Physical Defense.

just bite the bullet and get scholar asap i did just that and now can go in to group finder as healer.

Physick and cure are identical skills ... the only difference was the Mnd of a cnj is much higher then that of an arcanist.. :)

you heal for 100, cnj heals for 200. simple

Also tanks in the early levels have what 500hp?

Granted I'm only a few levels away from scholar now so it doesn't matter. Just woulda been nice to play as what you wanted to level into.

I have a 50 whm. And I prefer healing classes. I looked at the class a red mage of sorts. Can heal not as well as whm but can also debuff. If specced correctly and with a little work it could be a viable healer with added bonuses to the party.

Anyways I'm done. Lets just have 1 healer for the rest of the game and make 12k more DPS jobs.
