Login Limitation After Emergency Maintenance (Aug. 25)
After the emergency maintenance on the North American/European data Worlds which was conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 25, to confirm the optimization of the matching server for the Duty Finder, we will be limiting the login more than usual. We will be relieving the limitation gradually as we see oversee the status.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may caues, but we would like to ask for your continued cooperation to make this a stable environment.
IT WILL BE TO YOUR BENEFIT IF YOU'RE READING THIS NOW AND NOT ABLE TO LOG IN TO WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. THIS IS HAPPENING TO VERIFY WHERE, WHEN, AND WHY THE SERVER IS GOING BAD. IF YOU CONTINUOUSLY TRY TO LOG IN RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE NOT HELPING.
AGAIN, IF YOU WANT TO PLAY, WAIT 10 MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN. IT IS TO YOUR BENEFIT.

But seriously, at this point of the game it should be done. It was nowhere near this bad in OPEN beta, when the F2P players were just getting a bite, this is just crazy. 1 maintenance ok, fine, fix the issues. Whatever. But this is the 4th time, and it's still not fixed. -

That's what this downtime is for. They're attempting to isolate the hardware issue if they are staggering logins.
This is the beginning of the end, so just calm down.
If it gets bad enough, we'll all get some sort of compensation, so just stay calm. Yelling at people when there are computer issues does not make it go any faster. -

When there's 100's of thousands of people wanting to play all at once waiting ten minutes will do nothing. Its on SE to get there servers working properly before this EA started and to get them working properly while there servers are live. No amount of "Don't log in give it time bs will work" Truth hurts I know.
P.S letting SE work out the bugs is not the end of the world either they will be stable. -

You know if I ended up 2007th in a que... I could accept that. I would still hold SE responsible for lack of server readiness, especially with them knowing from the beta's just how heavy the traffic would be. But it is opening weekend and yeah que's are to be expected.
Not being able to even que up is just plain unacceptable. It is piss poor service, lack of foresight, lack of willingness to sink the cash needed into the infrastructure.
At this point this is getting to be complete bulls**t. And you add to the fact that the JP servers have not gone offline once that I have seen really just frags the living hell out of me. Because to me that points to the fact that it isn't a software issue but a datacenter hardware issue that must just not been important to SE because we aren't Japanese.
I am not even one to worry about regions and such but there comes a point where even the most reasonable of us have to be willing to accept that obviously there is some serious lack of concern for a certain group going on

They should have just let the Q up for the server and reduce the amount the server would accept, would avoid all the people spamming, and the frustration of a message telling to "wait for an opening"...

If they would have done any stress testing whatsoever with the NA/EU servers... If they would have added more than 6(!) EU servers...
But I guess early access is the new Phase 5...eh? -

When you transition from closed beta to open beta, to now early access and launch servers are going to be hit with heavy traffic with us logging in at the same time. That's why they are limiting the log ins, which is smart, they'll be able to analyze when things go wrong. But it seems you just want to play and you don't want the problem fixed.Quote:

It doesnt matter, once we log in and start playing, SE will just bully us out with another server error, server maintenance or malfunctioning of another in game item again :(

Before the 3 hr maintenance last night as well as the the one in the afternoon yesterday I was able to get through the DF to do the missions I needed to get my GC as well as a random quest that requires a separate instance. So for the time being "don't log in give it time bs will work" because it gives them the information they need and or want right now.Quote:

Not all players read this stuff and nobody is going to sit there and wait 10 minutes between login attempts. That's one of the dumbest things ever posted and it's their system that is failing miserably. They need to fix it. Not their paying customers. As someone else stated, they've brought the entire game down for hours at a time in just the first 36 hours now and things have got worse, not better.

Honestly, this is pretty normal for a launch of a MMO game. My buddy who played WoW said Blizzard had crazy server issues for about week after it's launch. What I don't understand is how these companies don't take this into consideration. I don't know how these things work really but if it were up to me I would get where I feel I had enough server load then triple that amount. But what ever...I just hope I get to play soon.

I'm not mad about those issues that are affecting the NA/EU realms as is very hard to have a smooth launch on an MMO.
The thing that worries me is that the JP servers are free of issues as it gives you the feeling that you are playing in "lower" quality servers... -

Also FFXIV 1.0 sold 600,000 copies, if even 10% of those try logging into the legacy worlds + all the new people that's an insane amount.Quote:

I work with game devs, and I've seen issues and bugs come out all the time. Even with our budget, bugs get fixed. What I do not understand is if it is a hardware problem or not enough servers period. I am with the OP that how do you not just have tons and tons of servers to ensure your game can handle ANY load that comes your way and then if you do not end up needing them you just simply return them to Best Buy.. LOL Save your receipt SE. If this happens with every F'ing MMO that launches and then there is always a fix...why can't they stop it from happening???? I want that answered to me...how many times does this have to happen in EVERY MMO for them to not have it happen the next time...there is obviously a fix...fix it before it happens. Umm... we didn't know that million and million of FF players were going to play this game...I call Bull Poo.
