I wholeheartedly agree and support this.
It seems very smart to take time off actually developing the game to create daily reports for people that don't know the meaning of patience. Wait... actually not.
Information needs to be collected from the teams by each team lead, then collected by someone in the team and put in a form that's organic enough for the marketing team. Then the marketing team needs to review it, finally it needs to be translated, and the marketing team from each region needs to look at it again (just to make sure that nothing that shouldn't be said went by during translation).
And you'd want them to do this every day?
I'd rather them.. you know.. actually work on the game to bring in results then catering to some that think they should demand things that no other game developer ever did, hampering actual work on the game in the process.
I agree, I really wish the updates from SE were on a more consistent schedule.
Then again, I'd also rather have them do the updates right the first time. SE has already proven that things don't turn out well when they're rushed out of production.
I also see no reason they can't at least give us some weekly info or something, they have a year's worth of content planning up for everyone to see for FFXI.
/facepalm...
Notice I said AT THE END OF THE WORKING DAY and SMALL BITS of info. Even thing's like ''everything's going along well no roadbumps'' Or even ''70% IT'S ALMOST HERE!''
Don't read parts of the post and alter it to your liking.
EDIT: Also if they can't keep up with four languages they should have region locked the game end of story.
I'm staying out of this one but I agree that the DVD was thrown together.
Lol, I just popped it in. Here's a quote from Hiromichi Tanaka:
"It's been a long time in the making, but I think we can say with confidence that FINAL FANTASY XIV has emerged as the game we imagined it could be."
I felt disappointed when I played the game :D
I like the book though..
Ironically people that are cynical seem to think anything logical is an "excuse" or "white knight" or "defending". Rift wasn't rushed out the door, XIV was. Rift doesn't need a complete foundation overhaul (It's WoW with a different storyline using a basic concept from XI - Campaign/Besieged/Dominion Ops), XIV does.
I don't know about SE being hurt by their silence, as they have their massive offline library, including PSN releases that's doing very, very well and XI, it's just people are growing more and more critical over this game they're not seeing the bigger picture that when you need to redesign an entire MMORPG, you're going to be busy, and looking at the Japanese forums and reading what Yoshida wrote, they're just not sitting on their hands like some want to truly believe.
Those "small bit of info" need to be collected, polled, elaborated, put in a decent and organic form, examined by the marketing, translated, confirmed, and then delivered. That's not something you do in five minutes at the end of the working day. As usual, there's an immensely oversimplified idea of game development at work here, not to mention of information management in a large team.
So they should have deprieved thousands of people of the game because some don't have a bit of patience and think that they're entitled to "daily reports" (something that's absolutely unprecedented in this industry) just because they bought a game?Quote:

making of dvd... I think I forgot it existed.
Thanks for posting another redundant thread. Patience is a virtue people, considering how much he posted on crafting shows they're pretty much revamping the game from top to bottom. There's a lot going on behind the scenes, more than we will ever know, but all we can do is be patient.
Yoshi-P posting tidbits of news isn't going to make things better, considering he posted something new and now people are complaining that SE isn't translating fast enough or everything should be in English. If he posted something like "Today we worked on the battle system.", people would want more, they would want specifics. The info is coming, all you have to do is sit on your butt and press F5 until next week.
I did watch it, first thing I did actually when I got the Limited Edition (While letting the game install)... Everything on the DVD was already up on youtube BEFORE the limited editions was released so I had already seen like 90% of it. =( Super fail.
But honestly, I'm tired of making excuses for SE. So now I'm just sitting and waiting till when I'll want to go back to playing FFXIV. Spending my spare time playing Rift and other games until then. (And using whatever time leftover after that on the FFXIV forum!)
Fine weekly updates are just as good as daily updates still not happening and plenty of games do this.
No they should have released the game within it's own region and updated it accordingly like most Korean MMO's do. I don't see the EU or NA communities asking the Korean DEVs of Aion for update's it's a global game and it should be treated as such. If they can't handle being global.Quote:

Dont argue with him, This dude has 1229 post all defending this bs thats going on really dude 1229 post? O.o; wtf you have got to work on the forum team because if not thats just sad....
On the original post i agree 100%
Grimm dont argue back and forth with the XIV fanboys you wont win, they can sit there and post 24/7 while were at work and having a life.
Then the reinforcements come all boasting 800+ post of pure XIV power you can't win lmao,
But I agree with your post.
Oh Crap I hear them coming.....
I just wish they'd bring back the roadmap from Tanka's days/Early Yoshi days. I preferred it to the last few Letter's from the Producers. I like getting a comprhensive view of what's going on, and then can just move stuff along the timeline as the larger patches get put out.
No one is forcing you to play the game and no one is forcing you to be on these forums. If you don't play, you shouldn't be on the forums. Also, you agree with the idea that the game is lacking content...but you don't even have a job at 50 so you have no idea how much content there is. Do us all a favor and leave please.
I have to say though, I'm honestly amazed at how long people are willing to defend FFXIV. I mean, I was one of them... but at this point, it's just become pure blind following....
Eh anyway. I do feel English speakers are left to last, but I assume so are the French and Germans as well. Wished we could all be updated at the same time.
I meant "defending" as in this game has so much content and there have been lots of improvements in the past 7 months. (For example). Because that is what I've read people say in the forum. Isn't that defending a game that is lacking? The FFXIV community is divided at the moment. Yay-FFXIV, and dissapointed-FFXIV.
Edit: and the people that are yay-ffxiv will defend ffxiv no matter what it's about. content, gameplay, etc.
Your logic = defending stuff is crap. What's logical about releasing and making people pay money for a game in this state? What's logical about people defending a team that just messed up big time, just on blind faith. They have not done anything to regain trust. All the things updated besides a few things were from when Tanaka was still around. Please explain that logic to me because I don't see it.
Actually it's not, most people want to see the game change. The "yay-ffxiv" people are just sick of all the useless whining.
Just becuase I find threads like this pure crap doesn't mean I'm defending XI, I'm just sick of seeing this dead horse beat beyond recognition.
there isn't much at 50 itself, but there is a lot that he is missing between the ranks of..24? and 50. I agree though, that this game doesn't have a lot of content for those that have multiple jobs at 50...but imo, there is plenty of content for the levels/ranks between 1 and 50.
I wouldn't call it defending since if you've played since Alpha it's ok to admit the game actually improved since then and especially since release, it just hasn't gotten any content. The current content isn't enough to satisfy everyone as guildleves were described to be the content for people who have a little time to play...however the game released with only said content so it's easy to understand what some people could mean by "the game has lots of content" because by definition, guidleves, sidequests and the main story arc is content, but it's subjective, because people only deem "dungeons" and raids as content.
I know it doesn't take me 20 minutes to clear my inventory like it did at beta and release and I know the game actually registers my actions unlike it did at release..so the game is improving, but I don't think anyone is defending by saying it's getting better because it is for all intents in purposes.
Information is given when it's ready and final. It's that simple. As yoshida said plenty time (and many other developers said as well, from other games) developing an MMORPG is a matter of sinergy. Systems have to be developed and updated together with others, and things quite often need to be changed even in a very advanced state of development.
Otherwise you have very unpleasant cases (like creative assembly for instance) that throws in promises when they aren't finalyzed, and then ends up breaking half of them, with the fanbase growing angry as hyenas every time one is missed because it was communicated too early.
I'd rather not being fed bull because they need to fill slow weeks to keep the ones that don't have patience happy.
You don't see them? This is rather funny given that the fanbase of korean games is normally extremely bitchy about the fact that they get updates late, and the game released when it's already old and outdated.Quote:

Same with the european fanbase of many regional-segregated american games. Go read the countless hate threads spawned by learning that Tera online would have been handled by Frogster in europe.
They can definitely handle being "global". In fact they give us actual game updates at the same time. That's what we're entitled to, since they're part of the product we purchased. Information on future development (or anything else) is not part of the product. It's not something we're entitled to, and as such we should be happy that we're actually getting it in due time (which normally happens to be a few hours of delay, BIG deal).
I think you're interpreting "yay-ffxiv" wrong. The people you think are fanboys are just more patient and understanding than others. I know the game isn't perfect and I don't support it in its current state but I have no need to create 50 topics over the same thing. Especially since I know they're working hard on revamping multiple systems. We just have to patient, Rome wasn't built in a day.
I think you're doing the right thing, play Rift/some other game, then come check out FFXIV when they update the battle system and go from there.
It's sad (and laughable) that people think they have the right to know what's going on behind the scenes, that's not to say I'm not curious of course but they aren't going to bare their soul just because a few people are getting frustrated.
Go play Rift for a couple of week or a month by which time you will be bored and ready to come back to FFXIV.
i dont play but i can check the forums to see if they actually change anything to make it worth turning it on, and the broken class system and battle system makes taking one of thoes to 50 not at all apealing, my main class is armorer and thats sad lol let them add advance classes/Fix the battle system then more ppl will play. and I'll post as i see fit unless u are paying my isp and light bill shove it lol
I guess it depends on when you started playing the game. I've been playing since launch so I have seen some changes of course. I mean, I still remember trying to find items without the market ward item search. Heck, that was a gigantic improvement alone. But as someone that has been playing since release, I've just got fed up with continuously waiting for a game to improve that was wrong from the beginning. I mean, who releases a game with a gigantic market ward system with retainers for each player... and then don't add in an item search? Just confuses me. How could they forget such a vital thing to an mmo and to a game in general? Even logic would side with an item search... when there is lots of items...
Anyway, regardless I'm still a fan of FFXIV. I know it had potential to be amazing, still does. Just something went wrong along the lines. I think they rushed the release to be honest.
People like you have no right to be on this forum. "This game is teh sux!" You haven't even played it for any decent amount of time. Your highest is 21. That's about 5hrs of play. You have absolutely no idea what is in this game. The battle system is kinda meh but it's currently being fixed. Advanced classes won't come for quite a while. Absolutely 0 games had advanced classes on release (that I know of) Stop making excuses to hate the game, please.
He paid for the game so he has every right to be here.
Moving on to more productive talking. I think SE really need's to show something hell maybe open test servers for a few select members testing things that have been done so far. People are saying ''We are playing beta.''
Then let SE treat it like beat throw the buggy content out there and let us do feed back.
