No EA for V1.0's?
It would be nice if SE allowed V1.0/PAID at least one month V1.0 subscription/Non-Legacy/Non-PreOrder peeps with EA access unannounced or at the last minute XD Cursed by marketing devices once again XD Love this game, though. After reserving this game some years ago, buying it, V1.0'ing it, paying & playing it, discontinued by SE... F-I-N-A-L-L-Y... here it is again... to stay and better than ever!
I woulda' liked to see a Playstation4 Pre-Order perk, everything else can suck it hahaha But thank you Rewyen. I'll look into PC-FFXIV-CE. ;D Also, thank you "Tis the night before EA" dude. I needed that for weekend FFXIV celebrations XD
Oh and MysteriousRonin, I feel that the YoshiClaus spirit will be with you come winter(Or summer depending on where you live) XD Thanks, man. If I see ya in Balmung, I'll make sure to /regen ya haha
I be in the USA (said w/ friendly American attitude)

I'm Legacy but I also agree that 1.0 players should get early access. I see no reason NOT to give 1.0 owners early access as in all fairness they have paid for the game. I hope this discussion doesn't turn beta forum style flaming.
-
I see no reason TO give it to them. Early Access is something given for pre-ordering a game, a sort of incentive. This was done with the 1.0 CE, it was given to those buyers 1.0. It was consumed in 2010. This is irregardless of whether you liked the game or not.
So they've done it again with 2.0. You pre-order, you get early access, an incentive. 1.0 CE purchases got their "reward" already. Again, it's an incentive to pre-order. As for Legacy, SE decided to give that to them on their own, for reasons of their own choosing. Though I can think of a few on my own.
I would feel no entitlement to EA for ARR if I didn't pre-order or have Legacy. Those are the conditions SE has placed on it.
-
Wait wait wait .... Let me try understand this.
You want a perk because you didn't fulfill the legacy campaign that was advertised to you many times.
That is a perk for people that have preordered the game (hence preorder items and access)
Because you got a game that you bought 3 years ago and already used your early access back then. You also got to play for free because SE admitted that the game had its faults and didn't feel that it would be right to charge for it.
They are already giving you the client and the first 2 weeks for free play. What makes you believe they also owe you early access for a 2nd time round???
But sure why not.. Lets just make the 24th the official launch and everyone can play!!!! Yay!!!!
P.S this is sarcasm -.-

100% agree with this.

Legacy = discount and free ARR. Early access was added later. ispano starts the attitude problem ball rolling. OP are you in the EU I have a spare pre order code you can have.
-
One of initial benefits for early access is to stagger the initial blow to the servers. If we have everyone come in at once we probably see issues that happened in Open Beta again or long queue times.
1.0 players with out Legacy will not be getting early access no matter how much some people whine. We don't need this thread.

I never said I had Legacy. If you mean this part: "Though I can think of a few on my own" It means I can think of reasons why they would do it. Not reasons I feel they should have done it and did. Quite a difference. Note, I can also think of reasons they could have not given it to Legacy as well.
SE can add or remove whatever they want from Legacy, after the fact even. I could care less, if I had it or not. Legacy or not, all 1.0 players bought the game. Ok, so no difference there. Legacy paid for a promotion, some didn't even know about it when they paid for 3+ months, since it was released several months after SE started charging. Now, the people in between, maybe. But that would be a case by case basis.
Lastly, I too got a spare EU code somehow. People told me I could sell it, I gave it to someone who didn't have one.
So let's not start with the attitude comment.
EDIT: Almost forgot. I am a 1.0 player. Legacy? I might be, might not be, doesn't matter either way. I bought and pre-ordered the game again to support SE.
-
1.0 People had MORE than enough warning & heads up about EA & how to go about it.
On a side note I'm Legacy & registered EA. It wasnt that hard or expensive to do eaither
-
Nah, just saying if SE included V1.0's, it would be nice. The middle children hahaha (The V1.0 peeps that PAID for at least one month instead of three months) * I paid for two months XDD Oh well, it was a busy year fo meh XD More importantly, FFXIV is BACK!... and better than ever!
-
He wasn't really demanding it, he was just saying it would be nice, calm it down folks!
I'm a 1.0 CE players. Originally I was going to say skip EA, but last week I said forget, Im doin it. Only cost me 30 dollars, and I get 2 new items, and another account if I want a mule account. Worked out for me, isn't that much money honestly.

This.
People need to understand the difference between 'bitching' and 'mentioning'.
I don't want to see these forums turn into the cesspool that beta forums were; please people, if you don't have anything nice to say, please don't say anything at all.

Yes, he wasn't demanding it. However... like many other topics, it has been beaten to death repeatedly. Outside of that, someone else replied and started up with his reasonings to have it, so others responded with the opposition.
Lastly, the line "If you don't have anything nice to say..." would restrict people. Mainly because what one person considers nice or not, is not the same for everyone. So one person could simply say it's not nice, you shouldn't have said that. Even if the person had no hostile intent whatsoever.
-
You said it. I just don't want to play on PS3 or play the "reserve my code"game. No biggy. I hope those that paid on V1.0 get unannounced EA access hahaha But not counting on it. Also, I'm looking forward to PS4 ;D
-
ok so what if SE decides to give ea to 1.0 .. then what do legacy get for the extra money they put in it?
As it stands now 1.0 Ce gets the bonusses and extras except EA , legacy the same but +EA , the Ea is given to legacy because they sticked with the game + also paid for gametime besides the free time they could play.
I totaly disagree to give 1.0 non legacy players EA

Except by buying the game a few years ago they did pre-order. So argument invalid.

I am 1.0 but not legacy,
just bought a digital copy for the early access code & the mog cap too ^_^

Slightly wrong, Legacy does not get CE items if they didn't have the 1.0 CE already. There are Legacy with 1.0 Standard. They could of course digital upgrade or get the PS3 CE, but they don't get it automatically.

As did everyone else, and all the pre-order perks for 1.0 were given out when 1.0 released, in 2010. So no, it's quite valid.

Just a warning, and it seems you might already know. Having 1.0 means you have a PC Code on your account already, and you cannot apply the game code you bought to your account if it is PC. Pre-order code works fine however.
-
Thankfully in a few days discussions like this will be but a distant memory. I can't wait.
-
i am legacy and bought the CE edition in 2010 , so i am CE , so that being my error forgetting to mention it in my post lol.
And yes preorder in 1.0 was used already on the 1.0 release so is not valid anymore for 2.0
-
dear lord i cant wait for this weekend to be over so threads like this can STOP!

My guess the reason why se only allowed legacy players n not 1.0 is b/c anyone can claim that they bought 1.0 ce. As far as they know, players could have bought it this year n was hoping that they would get EA. So by having just legacy players granted EA, it wasn't hard for se to determine if these players didn't buy the game this and/or just playing the game just to receive EA.
I'm an 1.0 player (that bought it 2010) n I respect the move that they did, which is why I pre-order the game, thus granted EA.

Yeah, this was one of the reasons I knew about. I knew people buying the game, CE even, for $5 far after it released. I mean, sure, they could start filtering by date of code application, play time, if they paid 1-2 months without getting legacy, what have you, but it honestly would become a chore to do so.

Clearly SE treating the people that spent money on 1.0 poorly is not good PR for the new people coming in, especially the wary ones expecting this new version to be as bad as the last version.
No, I think you have issues understanding. As much as people want to think it's the same game, to validate your argument, it's too different to be so. I pre-ordered the 1.0 CE, I got early access in 2010 for 1.0. I do not, at all, expect them to give it to me now. It's childish to think you deserve it just for buying the game back then. But it's ok that someone bought 1.0 for $5 after the fact, not even a pre-order, and should get Early Access to 2.0? That's not how it works. The game is a blur between a new game and a rebuilt game, but the line has been drawn, and it's enough of a new game to invalidate your "wants"
-
This thread is exactly why we can't have nice things.
-
I paid for two months in 2012. I'm saying it would be NICE if Players that PAID $$$ for Subscription... PERIOD... should get EA. Just the ones that PAID Subscription. But no biggy. Just saying it would be a NICE Yoshi-Claus gift to join ya'll on the 24th. Yoshi-mas in August. Welcome back everyone! Woohoo! Can't wait. Gonna get my Summoner on a.s.a.p! haha
Also, please read Ralos' "T'was the night before EA". That will open up your heart. haha
-
IF you already bought the game, regardless, you should be able to get into EA. I'm legacy but feel any pre-owner should start with EA since you technically pre-ordered the game years ago.
-
Now, I have a question. I'm a v1.0 player (Non-Legacy), I've pre-ordered the PS3 Collector's edition. I've put in my Early Access PS3 code, linked my account, fully updated my clients PC AND PS3. I am fairly certain I can do whatever from this point on, but still... My question is this: Will I be able to play Early Access on PC after connecting my PS3 code to my PSN? I'm pretty sure I can, I just want to know as my comp turned up the day after P4 and I didn't get to test it out >_<

I don't feel entitled to get EA for buying 1.0 three years ago. Especially since the game was free to play for over a year.

Um go to game stop, pre order, input code on your v1.0 account = win. Its $5.00 and you won't lose a dime.
-
no you are wrong. 1.0 players that are non-legacy should in fact not get early access.
-
should clear some things up
-
You know, some people were so disappointed with 1.0 that they destroyed the disks, and there was no way to download the game by the time the legacy campaign came around....
Either way, by buying 1.0 you invested in a game that even according to SE themselves wasn't worthy of the franchise.
I did preorder 2.0 and have early access, but it would have been nice not to have to do that. It's not an entitlement issue, it just would have been excellent customer service to smooth away a remarkable screw up and PR disaster.
-
As a 1.0 non-legacy player, I agree that its fair in not providing EA. All 1.0 owners had the ability to sub for legacy status. Personally I pre-ordered for 2.0 for both the items and EA. Sure free is nice, but fair is fair.

Thankyou CrowQueen, much appreciated!
