First Thread, Durandal English speakers holla!

Didn't see one of these in the other forums so starting one here. Wassap all :).

By the way, I'm currently LS/FC-less, so if there are any casual/friendly ones out there looking for a WHM please send me a /tell!

I'm looking for a FC on Durandal. Will be leveling Paladin / Warrior and Bard first. Already have a 50 monk. Hello to everyone who missed the transfer or just choose to stay :)

Hello!! I started a thread like this on FFXIV Nation. We have a small english population on Durandal so I am glad to see someone started a post here too!!

I have a small social linkshell named Scions of Shannara if anyone is interested. I know it is an odd name but it was from version 1 and is the name of a book. My character name comes from the series, as do 2 other members names. Right now we are all FFXI players and version 1 FFXIV players. Most of us did not get far in version 1 because it was just to laggy to play but we are all excited about ARR, everything we have seen so far has been wonderful and I see this game doing as well as FFXI.

Can't wait to play again!! Unfortunately, I am out of town until the 28th so I will miss early access but if you need some people to hook up with my husband is Walker Boh and should be on at various times during early access.

Edit to add: I love crafting! I will probably do a lot of crafting/gathering and I love to help my ls mates!

I'm Tryst Wildkey, and can often be found crafting in out of the way corners. We've got the remains of our tattered and scattered LS here on Durandal, but will probably be either re-forming or joining new/multiple LS's. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Regarding Free Company, well, it's been a long time dream of me and my husband that we have our own shared housing and storage capabilities. He gathers, I craft, he kills, I craft, he spiritbonds, I meld materia, and every so often I suit up and join him out in the field as mnk. So, we created a Free Company just for the 2 of us, and hope to eventually ally our FC with a bigger one :D

We're more on the casual side, in that we don't get all OCD about scheduling raids and having rules. We help out frequently, I'm more than happy to craft for friends, ls mates and FC allies, usually for free, but I always accept shard and crystal donations! However, we do still want to get through all of the high end content, we just like to remember to have fun while doing it.

So, with that short and probably not quite informative enough introduction; I hope to see you all around Eorzea, make friends, help out and walk in the light of the crystal with you! :D

Hello to all! I'm not a Legacy character per se, I participated in the 1.0 beta however (Heck, I still have the program installed). Due to massive concerns, I didn't subscribe when it went live and of course, I do regret it. However, I am here for 2.0. I hope to learn and play along with everyone.

Hey everyone! I'm glad to see a thread like this. I did have a worry I wasn't going to meet many English speaking people on the server. I didn't play much of 1.0, but I'm here for 2.0 and pretty excited. I plan to play Paladin mostly, but we'll see how it works out!

Nice to see some English speakers sticking around. I, and a few other English speakers who live in Japan have a bilingual LS (http://nocturne.guildwork.com/) and we encourage other bilingual players who can play at JST hours (20:00JST onwards). Most of our (small) member base belong to the same Japanese FC and we are able to sponsor applications as such but require the applicant be able to communicate in Japanese coherently as not to cause strife during events.

Looking forward to seeing you around and if you need any help with translating something please don't hesitate to ask me in-game.

I am on Durandal .... don't know why. I live in the USA. My friends are on Hyperion so I had to make a character there to play with them. I made it during the last beta a couple days ago. But I want my first character ..... :(

Sorry for the vaguely-related question, but I don't know who to ask - is there a way for English client users to flip between English and Japanese text input in game? I can do it in PSO2 no problem, but when I try to use the same method in FFXIV (language bar->Japanese) nothing happens. Any ideas to help me communicate with Jp players directly rather than through Auto Translate?

I switch keyboard layout (alt+shift) between rus, eng and jap. It work.

If you're talking about on a windows computer, first make sure you install the jp ime. By default, it'll be in english mode. You'll want to alt-left shift to get to the right input (if you're like me and have more than 2). For hiragana input, do alt-~ (hold alt and press the tilda key) hiragana mode. FFXIV isn't like ffxi where all the input are managed by the program. It looks like it'll accept just about any text the system can handle.

With that said, ffxi crashed when I tried chinese. Like to try it in chinese on ffxiv. ^^

Hi, fairly low level here. I didn't get to play much during 1.0 so let my account go dormant after the free period ended. I regret not playing long enough to get one of the yukatas.

I'd like to thank whoever it was in the last stage of beta that raised me after I fell to my death off a cliff. I landed just outside of the dry-docks near Limsa.
It's a very high cliff... I wrongly assumed it wouldn't let me run off it.

I suppose it is the purpose of some people in life to serve as a grim warning to others.

Hello! man, it's awesome to see that there are some english speakers that have stuck around. I was here in 1.0, and like most kinda gave up. With all the new changes I'm hoping to be playing for like the next five years.

We have a small group of four or five that are going to be on regularly. LS and FC will be up soon, and we're hoping to grow. Anyone is welcome to hang out! My friend, Eycen Alinias, and myself are two returning legacy players who are currently looking for a somewhat casual linkshell/free company. We play from Central Europe (CET/GMT+1), but our playtimes are somewhat flexible, seeing as we're both students. Between the two of us, we have all crafts and classes (except ARC, which is a work in progress) leveled to 50. We are currently working on maxing BOT as well.
We used to raid quite a bit in Version 1.0, but we are currently not looking to do more than bite-sized raiding at most. This might change though. We are both able to use voice chat for communication during raids/instances, or just idle banter whilst crafting/questing.
