dkp point systems

seems that even with the need greed pass system ls/fcs still intend on using the dkp system. i dont understand why thought if you are in a raid and you need the item you shoul dbe able to need on it and not be foreced to pass and give it up just becasue you dont have enought points its not fair but on the other hand if say ur playing WHM and need a piece of tank gear you cannot need on it and can only greed. therefore you as the tank should be able to get it since thats the job your on and also not have to pass just becasue you dont have enough points its complete BS. the game has a need greed pass sytem for a reason not so people can manipulate it just so certain people can get the gear they want and others get screwed everytime

Need/Greed are designed so that there's a sense of fairness when doing content with PUGs (Pick-up groups). If your free company wants to use another system, that's entirely their prerogative. You're always free to leave and find another one if it bothers you that much. What exactly do you expect SE to do, ban the company leaders for kicking you if you keep rolling for everything?

I agree a DKP system is in a way to screwed with people. Most of the time the leader going to end up with the most points which mean they always have top of the line gear with other members gimp then they wonder why they can't win. This is why they should make a new system for there linkshell. Because at the end you need rules or you still going to end up with lucky people getting gear while the rest can't noting.

maybe base it off attendance and if you already got enough gear for the week. Or you can just do what most JP linkshell did in FFXI they did just one dynamis to get two people the item they needed. But it seem like the game itself have rules set where if you loot to much you end up locking yourself and you can't get anymore items so that good.

Also yoshi-p said they going to reward people who did not get any gear with the same gear just with less stats. I hope they do this system for both endgame content and not only the low level raids that are just for level up.

It's like a private business, they are able to impose whatever additional rules and requirements around the common rules that they feel is best for them. Just be sure to check what those additional rules are before you commit yourself to an FC/LS and you'll be fine. Don't join the ones that you don't feel are fair.

As already noted, the N/G system is a good compromise for random groups, and with the Content Finder being the primary method of getting yourself into end-game content, you'll be quite glad for it. If you want WHM gear, then sign up on WHM. If you want PLD gear, sign up on PLD. That way, you are in control of what equipment you are capable of getting - all that is required then, is a) the piece dropping, and b) you winning the lot.

There's going to be a credit system implemented wherein when you finish a dungeon you'll receive unique currency (of some kind) which can be collected and then spent on the gear that the dungeon can drop. It's more for people who have the worst luck when it comes to obtaining gear from chests, but it's still good for building up credit with random groups.

I agree that a great system it allow everyone in the ls to get gear. Then when that person have better luck they can upgrade there gear to something better.

Sounds like totems in 1.0. Save up the totems to get an ifrit weapon and whatnot

In any Guild, Clan or Free Company, if you want to distibute farly drops through the people you have to use a DKP System. There are many reasons for this, but it's wrong pointing the finger to the DKP System itself, almost all time the time the people ruins it, and not vice-versa. True story!

If the drop rate is terrible then yeah DKP will be a core system major FC will use also if you don't like that system...well then don't join a FC that incorporates it

ya know, if you are against a group using a dkp system it's a really easy fix. don't join a ls that uses that system..... shocking i know. there's a bunch of groups that will be using a dkp system and they would rather do it that way. that is THEIR choice and not yours. your only choice is whether you join that group or not.

i'll be joining a dkp shell myself because that's the way i would rather play.

How do you know what LS/FCs intend to do? where is your data?

I don't like DKP systems either, and don't understand how anyone could like them unless they were friends iwth the LS leader or were with the LS from the beginning, therefore giving themselves the advantage. However, I see no evidence that "everyone" or 'many people' are going to do it. There are many ways to handle loot distribution.

You're describing a bad working DKP System, and the fault is of those people who set it. There are many different DKP Systems, and each one has its own pros and cons, but all of them can work only if Leaders are fair people and manage them with care and fairness.

I don't think that a Random System could be fairer, because it essentially doesn't pay your efforts but your luck, and in a Guild or whatever it can't work.

One thing to consider with the in game N/G system is that it is class based. If you play both healer and dd but the party already has a whm if a good whm price drops and you are on a class that can't need it the other person will get it. When there are extremely rare peices in question you may not be able to use the in game system to assign it fairly
