Eorzea Trade Association

New Linkshell site!

For some finding someone with the trade skill that you need can be an awkward sometimes futile
endeavor. Not to mention the varying prices for services rendered.

With the new equipment system for crafted goods being bound to the player after use, the market for resale has been practically eliminated. This makes the role of Craftsman all the more valuable.

Finding something in the market can also be problematic as high ticket items will often times be sold out. This is why I propose we start a Trade Association.



Our Mission,

To increase the availability of Crafting Classes to adventurers, provide a wide verity of skilled Craftsman services and to create a standard commission for crafted items.



Planning stages and list of topics to be addressed:


Server Selection: This can be done as a single server project or as a cross server effort.

Commission Rate: Should be a fair, but profitable margin. May vary for more difficult jobs or high ticket items.

Application Form/Officer Testing: A simple application form for intent to join as well as an advanced knowledge test for advancement. Higher advancement, the higher tier jobs you will be considered for.

Qualifications: Agree to a set of standards to join the Eorzea Trade Association.

Standardized Contracts: A way to keep track of service tickets.



Required Roles:


President: Assigned to managing the Association and the highest level of authority on resolving issues.

Vice-President: Assigned to assisting with presidential duties*
*Also the final authority in the event the president can not be reached.

Accounting: Assigned to keeping track of gil received and gil payouts.

Contract Managers: Assigned to taking orders and finding the right Craftsman for pending contracts.

Contact group: Any Craftsman in the Association that has been contacted about a job for the Association should direct it to the Contract Manager and Craftsman will be assigned for the job.

Craftsman: This is where you make your gil. You will be paid on commission with a small contract fee taken out for the Association.

Quartermasters: Gatherers affiliated with the Association are paid for the materials they gather for the linkshell at the current market price when needed. A list of materials will be produced when the bank is in need of them.

**NEW**Merchants: Merchants are responsible for selling materials or other items that the Association produces and buying items that are of immediate need. You will be reimbursed any and all taxes plus 5% commission for sold items. Merchants will be recruited as there is need for them.

**NEW**Mercenary Division: This is our battle content unit. As not all items can be gathered or crafted, battle content is required to gather materials and items. Items gathered by Mercenaries will be bought for current market value with no taxes applied. Any mercenary wanting to sell materials or items found in dungeons should contact a merchant to arrange a sale.

This is all preliminary and subject to change.

Social media would of course have it's place in this project.

I was thinking about setting the level cap to 30 for becoming a entry tier Craftsman.

If we were to start the project on a new server with level 1s obviously the rules would be different. In that case it would be open enrollment. This would be a good idea on a new server as we would try to shape the economy anew.

I'm useless with numbers so totally not taking the accountant position, but I'm good with finding people!...usually XD. I'll gladly lend my skills as a crafter to help others out, even for only cost of materials.
Not sure if this will be a single server endeavor or have it stretch across multiple servers, but count me in!

Well since some of us will want to have a level 1 for the fun of it, no reason why we can't do both. Regardless, good to have you on board with this idea nixxy.

As long as the guild does not impinge on my personal code of conduct for fair trade, I would be happy to lend my services as a ARM and CRP (more classes pending). Personally, the idea of an organized trade conglomerate sounds quite interesting, and I'd love to take part.

So what happens to the contract fees? Are the roles paid? Or does all proceeds go toward's the president's new airship? :)

I love this whole aspect of the game (accountant irl^^) and would be happy to be involved on any level, but as an aside to my linkshell. I am tied therefore to my server, or whichever server the linkshell moves to, depending on what the hell happens.

It would make for a very good linkshell, and you could have them cross server. Social Media groups might be a good way to keep in contact with people and have a main hub site but that's just my 2 cents.

The contract fees go to linkshell operations. People that are finding the jobs for you, distributing them and running the operations behind the scenes to get you work. Also to linkshell assets that will be usable by the entire linkshell including materials needed for larger jobs and higher ticketed item requests.

This linkshell wouldn't be run like an endgame linkshell. We would be exactly that, a side linkshell that anyone that needs something crafted can contact.

Good to hear that people over at realm are interested! As far as a centralized site goes, I've had very limited experience in web design. That would probably have to be handled by someone more talented than myself.

I think we should start small with one or two servers (legacy and non legacy servers) and move up the chain as time goes on.

Afterthought: Social media and centralized sites could be used for notifying when orders have been completed.

That brings me to a good point. In no way is any Craftsman that takes part in this Association forced to refer them to a contractor. There are no limitations for someone who asks you to craft something and you are willing to do the work for them. If someone does NOT know a Craftsman, that's where our Association comes in. Think of our Association like a big referral program that you would pay for services that we provide. It's a win-win situation. You get your item in a timely fashion and our Craftsman get paid for their efforts. In no way is charity or free work condemned by the Association.

However, I would ask that if you are contacted by someone with a job FOR the Association, that you would then contact a Contract Manager.

Hai Cedri. Have you considered that it might be worth having a Gathering division of the Trade Association?

Not only for Association craftsppl, but also for independent craftsppl who might be tired of having to camp the AH for rarer mats. It wouldn't be limited to the three gathering classes, as DoM/DoW can happily farm drops (eg skins/shells, etc.).

Also, I had put the idea to my linkshell that I would happily run a materials bank for them, wherein materials that you would usually drop or NPC would be handed in for their NPC gil value and then could be distributed to members (I called it Quartermaster) for the same value. Obviously materials that were significantly higher value and sold rapidly on the AH wouldn't necessarily be part of this, but it can be useful to collate large amounts of detritus that crafters could use to level up with and wouldn't normally have the inclination to farm for themselves.

I like this idea, it certainly would reduce the headache for crafters if they could just leave a request for rare materials for a commission

I had considered it yes, I was gauging the interest in the Association with the community before continuing forward with that division. "Quartermasters" as you have coined would be a welcome Required Role.

At this time, no; But I will be joining up with friends in ARR and getting together with those guys :p

Only if someone wants something crafted while I'm at an event! haha, otherwise no.

On an average Craft, what do you charge? If applicable.
If the person has their own mats; Zero.
If they don't have their own mats then I charge just for those, unless I have a little of what they need then those mats are free.

Because of the general interest I've seen in this type of linkshell, the linkshell will go "live" in phase 4 open beta. It will be open enrollment on a non-legacy server. The Legacy server will be hashed out when we know more about phase 4.

When/if this becomes a cross-server project, I will then be taking applications for chapter presidents for each server.
