Still thinking about Linkshell Ships?

I know the world map is as old as 1.0, but since this is still the same world map used for ARR my question is still valid!

I noticed off the shores of Limsa Lominsa they have multiple ships, each labeled in Eorzean (I'm not good at reading this...) and they each have a logo next to them that closely resemble Linkshell icons.

Any thoughts? Think we'll still see this some day?

I think they briefly mentioned that this was planned...as well as airships.

A very generous reading... I wouldn't confidently ID any of that small lettering, it's more like random scribbles. And I certainly don't lack for Eorzean literacy either. Also as you said the resolution just isn't there for it.

Anyways, I wouldn't read into the image too much. As far as I'm concerned, it's just ships drawn to add flavor to the map emphasizing a seafaring culture. Crests/flags can be used for many reasons not just linkshells, maybe it's the crest of one of Limsa's shipping companies or pirate bands. If and when ships/airships for players are introduced into the game (and I do believe Yoshi-P has stated FC airships are in the plans), I wouldn't give this map credit for "predicting" it, it would just be the human tendency to draw links where none exist.

Having a Linkshell ship/airship would be awesome, I agree, but what would the practicality of such a feature be?

Hell, I'd rather spend the extra time on an awesome ship then just teleporting everywhere. I know we all wont feel this way, but I enjoy these games for the journey :)

amen bro, if they are doing this of LS's then Free companies will get them too unless its all one in the same O.o

^^ I would certainly hope FC's would get their own ships as well :)

Since wasn't it said they'd have their own HQ in a way? At launch, as a matter of fact before housing gets added. I think it'd be cool to have your LS/FC flag/logo plastered on there :D And members could contribute parts if they add a DoH like Engineer. Personally, I'd love to see Engineer added. :)

Yeah the small lettering is complete gib, which isn't surprising since they do resemble linkshells, it would make sense.

Ahhh yes... personal airships. I've mentioned my choices several times: If we are limited to small airships, perhaps something like Vaan's Galbana in FFXII: revenent wings...

But the last time I heard anything about seafaring Ships, it came from Tanaka. In 2010 like before the alpha test of 1.0.

What I'm wondering is, if they have ships (which can be tied to no place else that we've seen other than Limsa), then will there be other types of 'ships' for the other city-states? I mean...Ul'dah seems like it would use Caravans rather than ships, and I could see a case being made for Airships (at least the ones we used in 1.0) being tied to like...Gridania. And then the srs bsns airships tied to some major hub city. (Like FFXI's equivalent to Jeuno)

Of course this is only based on speculation of them adding actual Ships since I think they'd have to make equivalent modes for each city since...well...Ships would probably be pointless in Ul'dah, caravans for a merchant city in the desert makes more sense in this regard.

all I know is I need to captain something... even if it's a barrel in the water!
