they look smaller but I like it. I like knowing the leve of stuff I'm killing so i can better select enamies are are strong enough for me to take on. I hate fighting easy battles. Alot of past ff games did show mob levels. the icon looks smaller in my eye too.
was this a fan made picture or an actual change?
Looks like an actual change. It was posted by Foxclon, one of the Japanese community reps. The link is in my OP.
I just got the image. but ill go look for it.
I actually like it. Its smaller and reveals more detail than before.
Hello everyone. Many Thanks for the feedback. For various icons as the character has been introduced in the past, so I immediately introduce the team got more pictures. There are in the self-explanatorily, are expected at this time as you can see three patterns of active / inactive and identification, will be able to determine the level of interest. (Click to enlarge) We look forward to continued feedback from you!
according to google what said rep said.
People will still complain about that. Looks like the only two color indications are red for agro and green for nonagro, regardless of that indicated level. Now it's up to the player to determine how safe the mob is by gauging their versus the mob's level, and that's certainly harder than realizing a yarzon agroes. Intsead of complaining that they don't know what does and doesn't agro, they'll complain that they didn't know a rank 25 mob was that hard when it used to be "orange hard."
Hm looks good actually, level & aggro indicator. ( ^.^)b
from a few posts I translated some of the japanese are on the fence of the icons. They see the good and bad of them. They dislike the well easy mode of it but at the same time feel it could be good to help newbie to ffxiv/mmo. Most mmo out now are not very newbies to mmo friendly. So SE trying to get into that looks like. According to one poster he called them wet blanket marks.
Well, the icon looks better smaller but I still think its a pretty lazy piece of work, ah well.
The level indicators are nice, I'll enjoy having those. Though I can already imagine the complaints about it making the game too easy.
In what way is that a lazy piece of work?
What wouldn't be?
If you just don't like the style of it for some reason then whatever.
funny story about that..... sorry for derail :P
in skyrim they are keeping the fast travel BUT you must have went there first. I like the insta travel just more so AFTER i found the places.
anyway I wouldn't mind an option if there really NEEDS to be one. But having too many option will defeat the purpose of it being casual/less time consuming game also with option taking up room.
I like the icons it makes me feel like Im playing a video game vs an interactive movie.
to add since I ran outa room. Works of art take a long time to do.
Just be happy they making less of an eye sore and a bit helpful to players.
I don;t think they are lazy. I think for the time it took them to draw those up its pretty good.
i like the Rank info but despite being smaller the icon still looks ugly.
No dificulty colors? It would be great to make all agro icons star-shape and non-agro circle, and save dificulty colors. What do you think?
P.S. Sorry for my english.
This is faulty logic, since the option to make the game easy by telling players what mobs agro is a statement about what kind of game it is and the kind of player it wants. It's not just a matter of personal preference. You can't have both kinds of players just voluntarily making the game how they want it.
If players who have kept their agro icon off for 30 days enjoy increased drop rates, that's another thing. Then you can play your game and they can play theirs fairly.
Circles are easyer to read fyi. And its not like that had a long to tine draw them out. Its not like you go into photoshop and to a quick add. Its a long process tbh. So again its not lazy.
they could simply use a triangle or square shape in blue/green/yellow/red for aggro and the old circle shape for the rest.
so you feel ppl should be rewarded for having the icon off? And you feel that is fair?
You do know the target audience is casual player who don't have hours to play the game. Since ffxi was time consuming and scared ppl off who didn't have hours to play.
Sorry but thats kinda well... silly. It is really personal prefernce. Many gamers of many ability levels play mmo. Why should it only cater to the elite? What if a gamer who is so so at gaming, why should they be chased off a game?
Why should the game only cater to the lowest common denominator? If you want the extra drop rate, turn the agro icon off. You don't have to if you don't want to.
it would be an eye sore then since a triangle don't have much room for level They would have to increase its size inorder to fit double digits.
I used to study graphic arts. And part of the process is picking styles that would work best. Circles are the easiest to work with since you can fit a good portion no matter the size. Mostly due to it not having sharp points.
Also if you would zoom in on an icon like a triangle it can skrew the graphics a bit again die to the sharp points.
Thats pretty much what I got told me by teachers. And also based on personal experiments. :)
I don't think having these icons are going to make the game easier considering you won't know the actual strength of the monster until you fight it. Also to me there's no difference in having the icon on or off. With the icon off and you came across an aggro, you would probably just run away. With the icon on, you're gonna avoid that monster, the same thing you were doing with it off.
I don't think the people that have it off should get any kind of benefit, they wanted it off so the game wouldn't be "easy" so let them have it off and enjoy their "difficulty".
Ask SE, they decided and told us in advance the game was being casual friendly and less time consuming. Why shpuld drop rate be effected cuz of a person prefernce to using an icon or not. That isn't fair.
Consider the whole playerbase not just a select group befor making suggestion Which also include the target audience SE wanted semce prr launch. Your siggestion effects everyone over your personal prefernce.
You all are hypocritical then. You're willing the game to become less rewarding to some in comparison to you based on how they like to play, but unwilling to do the same for them.
Man, this is ridiculous. You're not speaking of a difficulty feature, as could be a salvage run with or without chest of cells at the beginning. You're complaining of a ICON who don't change the gameplay IN NO WAY. Why we should get some enhancement for a COSMETIC FEATURE ?!
If it's cosmetic you never needed it in the first place.
Like companions in WoW, but still exists.
Oh wait, they have a purpose: people pay for that <_<
The problem I have with it is once I know the monster aggros I can avoid it and still get the increase drop rate. What's stopping me from going around, seeing what aggros or looking online, then turning it off to get the bonus. It's unbalanced.
With the icon on it's pretty much a "one time use" and what I mean by that is once you know the monster aggros, the icon is useless for that monster cause you know it aggros.
the icon is not making the game any more or less easier just giving info to help players out. No one gameplay wise is benefiting from it. It just a cosmetic feature to help newbies or those who don't play games well.
All it is doing is what the game did before. Just more out in the open now.
Why so much hostilty for an icon? Your insulting us for not agreeing with you.
It's funny how even after the devs said it will be able to toggle off/on people will still complain lol. Some really do complain just for the sake of.
SE could have put more detail into the aggro icon but meh that's minor. SE will do what they want but since XIV launched failed they are actually listening to some extent..For now lol.
hey,those icons look good.
i like the smaller size and the way how it shows the monsters level.
surely is more more welcoming then the current aggro-icon, atleast for those that wish to have one.
That does look a lot better. ^^ I'm still happy we'll get the option to turn it off though.
A toggle was never going to appease our side, since it's a statement about the game and it's demographic is the most important aspect. It says you all can't handle a dangerous world without help, and that's who the devs focus on.
