Scrap ps3 Start ps4

SE scrap ps3 verson and develop for ps4. By the time ARR comes out ps4 would be close to release . and please have ps vita remote play Please PLEASE in the name of god..... FF14 ARR would be god of mmorpg with vita remote play on the go . I get in trouble at work for playing ff14 but it will be well worth it . 2nd think dont want ff14 to be limited by the ps3 system like ff11 was . only diffrence is ff11 was relased when ps2 was not old ff14 is being released very close to lunch date of ps4 . I don't think its worth it holding the game back just to be on ps3. Anyone who wanted to play ff14 would have bought a pc by now like my self

Lolno.

The 75+ million of PS3s that are now in the homes of people aren't going to just disappear.

The installed base of the PS4 is now 0. And will be 0 until the end of the year, and even several months after it will be a negligible fraction compared to the PS3.

Please, don't give marketing advice to Square Enix if you know nothing nothing about marketing. Not that they're going to listen, but it still makes my eyes bleed.

PS: The PC version is the lead platform. The PS3 version is not holding anything back. It's been said a million times.

They' won't scrap it. They promised this game on the PS3 a long time ago. They're going to fulfill that promise.

Maybe down the road they'll port it to PS4, but we'll have to see.

In the long run say in 2016 game developers would hit the full capacity of the ps3 and it would start holding ff14 back. its easy to upgrade computers for 2016 standards but ps3 will be the same specs in 2016 as it is today

How many times does this need to be said? for the 80th time it doesn't matter if the game looks like crap on ps3, people know that and will still play it. SE already said they will be upgrading graphics for the pc as they go, so PC players are unaffected in any way by how the game looks on ps3. The ps2 version of ffxi is just now not getting supported after years and years of the ps2 being outdated. how many reasons do people need to stop starting these threads?

Matter.

PC Is the lead platform. No matter how much the PC version gets upgraded, assets can be downgraded to fit and effects can simply be applied only to the PC version and whatever other platform there will be.

As a matter of fact, PC version and PS3 version don't even need to run on the same engine.

The PS3 version won't hold back anything, because it's not the lead development platform. The game could be ported to the Wii with 128x128 textures and 500 polygons per character for all it matters, and it still would not hold back the PC version.

Please do get it through your head. It's not a difficult concept.

It's an interesting opinion but it's extremely one sided. Perhaps it should have been posted in the older thread though, yes?

What Abriael said. PS3 won't affect "PC's Graphical Development" or anything, they're separate.

For FFXI, it only did because It was "Developed first for PS2" then ported to PC.

For FFXIV, PC and PS3 are separate, so in the future, when FFXIV PC might get "Graphical Update", PS3 won't.

At the moment, Yoshi-P wants to fulfill the Promise he made to release the Game for PS3, but he already said that later on a PS4 Version might be possible, again, this does not affect PC or PS3.

Furthermore Yoshi-P had said that a PSVita Version is truly possible, but would not be profitable for them because PSVita Playerbase is not big enough to support it.

On the other hand, he mentioned about making a "Tablet Version" of FFXIV down the road since ARR already has compatibility with Windows 8 and Touch Screen, however, It will have to wait until Tablet's System is strong enough for ARR.

(If I mentioned something false, please let me know)

good point SE would not need to develop vita verson it there is one on ps4. sony did say that all ps4 games can be played with remote play.

Why can't it just be on both? They can port the PC game to PS4 instead of porting the PS3 game over. It would then be equal to the PC version. The PS3 game will not hold the game back and they could just eventually stop supporting it like they did with PS2 FF XI ( except in Japan )

On a serious note, Yoshi have said that the current game engine was designed to be scalable to the whatever platform it plays on, because he was already aware of the limitations caused by the PS2 on FFXI. As some have already stated in this thread, you don't have to worry about the PS3 holding the game back.

Yoshi-P already stated that porting to the PS4 would be possible but that's not the focus. There's a bigger market for the PS3.

Whenever someone has asked, Yoshi-P has said that he can't say anything about a PS4 version because it hasn't been announced, not that they have no plans. But Square-Enix and other developers and publishers have known about the PS4 for many months. I'm almost certain that that the PS4 version is in the planning stages at least, especially since PS4 architecture is so much closer to PC than PS3 architecture is. I would be only mildly surprised if ARR is available as a launch title for PS4. Of course any official word on this will be withheld until closer to that time for maximum free marketing potential.

You do realize the PS2 version is not longer supported outside of Japan because there is such a small fanbase for it? Has nothing to do with the limitations that everybody already knows because its been repeated so many times its so classic its efffin jurassic! So switch the situation and PS3 could always get expansions via the PSN store.

Yoshi has already stated the worst thing about the PS2 was the HDD space. Which is non existent with the PS3 and no problem with distribution thanks to the internet.

I am also very sure the PS3 version will look good now that Sony is involved in the process. The PC version will have the ability to look better. I think you guys are so damn silly to think they will FINALLY make good on their promise and let it be an ugly, laggy and unplayable port. So silly its cute....

The PS4, hardware wise, is pretty much just a standard computer anyway. Look at it's specs and you'll see that they're not too different from your own computer specs. In that vein, it is clearly possible to just port the PC version to the PS4 and call it a day.

The PS3 is so different from a normal PC that it NEEDS a dedicated version. You can't just repackage the PC version into the PS3 and call it a day.

Now having said that, program language wise is another issue. But in that case you'll have to convert the PC version no matter what you do.

They just need to make a port for PS4, and phase out PS3 when we will inevitably run into "PS3 Limitations"

besides graphics and a possible lower frame rate the ps3 doesn't have any game breaking limitations. unless people really didn't know that they can swap to a bigger hdd in their ps3

Looking at the specs of the PS4, I already see 2 things that will create "PS4 limitations" for an MMORPG. Sorry to break it to you but every console will limit an MMORPG in some way, the PS3 will not limit the game for years (If ARR even lasts that long) much like the PS2 didn't limit FFXI until years down the line.

The limitation of consoles mainly rests within these 2 categories: Memory and storage. The PS3 and PS4 has stronger memory capabilities but eventually, they both will limit what XIV can do in certain aspects but nothing directly involving main gameplay. So when the PS3 limits XIV and they port it to PS4, where will they port it then when the PS4 limits XIV?

There is literally no reason to own a PS4 for the first year or two.

There's no indication that the PS4's storage won't be expansible. So no, there aren't any "storage limitations" in sight.

As for memory limitations, there's no indication that PC games will ever require more than 4 gb of memory in the upcoming several years, this without mentioning that the PS4's 8 GB will be shared, which is more flexible than usual PC memory.

Even in the sci-fi scenario that sees the PC version overtaking 8 GB of memory required between system and video, assets can be downgraded to fit in the PS4 version only.

So no. There's no possibility for the PS4 version to "limit FFXIV", but mind you, the same can be said for the PS3 version, as it limits only itself.
