About billing and why crysta exists

Just thought I'd make this post after reading a topic further down about the billing and everyone complaining about it.

Think of Crysta as a means of making the game more accessible. The way I see it SE probably plans on making game cards for Crysta available in stores similar to the business model of WOW. If people can get pre-paid cards they can get at the game without having to need a credit card more people will be able to play, and I think that's the whole point of crysta. Personally I'm using the crysta method because I don't like having to watch my account every month to make sure the transaction goes through.

I just wanted to spread some light on this topic. It's all about making the game available.

pro tip : Crysta isnt available at every country.

and CnB has even less region than crysta.

It will probably be available at some point, I just don't think it's at the top of the to-do list. The game is still in it's infancy and all the marketing isn't even being thought of at this moment.

well, there also the potential of attracting the younger crowd, and having their parents foot the bill(and take it away when nessesary)

It might or might not available at some point, what are people that wants to play supposed to do?

i am a victim as well, CnB rejects every single of CC and doesnt accept crysta at my country, i had to ask a friend from other country to help me for payments..

Do you know because of this issue alot of people from my country that wants to play had to buy the game twice? because they dont have the luxury of overseas friend that are willingly to enter their CC for your game? so they had to buy another box to get the reg codes, fake a country origin to the one that has crysta access.

could u imagine how frustating that is? to people that claimed they really are mad about that this game is so bad they wasted 40$, we lost 80$ here. big bravo.

Anyone remember the adventure packs from EQ2? There's your reason for Crysta.

I imagine SquareEnix plans on introducing smaller content you can buy to add to your gaming experience.

While I see your frustration I don't understand why you purchased the game if you knew there was a monthly fee that you might not have the means to pay, not that it matters at this moment because the game is free to play till further notice, but you were aware of it and you still bought the game. Next time I suggest further research into how it works if you don't want to pay with a card.

Don't get me wrong I feel bad for you that your out that money, but it is your responsibility as a consumer to learn about a product before purchase. The info was out there.

they already did that for ffxi.

according to some ppl crysta can be bought using an ultimate gamere card. its like a mega pre paid card used for tons of games. I yet to really confirm it. I much rather pay with a time card then having to get a debit card just to play. I don;t have one because I hate them. I pay stuff with cash only.

i might misunderstood your sentence, but where did i say i do not wants to pay?
everyone was well aware about the payment fees but there was never any warning that "sorry your coutnry doesnt accept both crysta and CC"

the game doesnt let us PAY with any method was what i am saying

if i were to buy game, i would research the game, reviews, screenshots, systems, etc
but not the payment system, why would anyone ever thought of paying for a game subsciption fee could be such a pain in the ass?

You did misunderstand. I meant that you should have learned if you would be able to pay for it. I didn't say you wouldn't want to.

And the fact that you didn't look into it before hand means you only have your self to blame for not learning about the product before you spent your money on it. :( Sorry but that's just logic.

Yeah except there are no such info out there because you can have verified CnB account and they still won't support FFXIV's billing.

so, the hundreds of us that pre-ordered FFXIV is screwed :) (not me because i had friends that can help)

Back on topic, this was regarding crysta allowing accessability for more players.

I'm one of the Australian players and we do not have crysta available in our region. I sent an email off to Square Enix about this shortly after I set up my billing account. This is the reply I recieved:

PS - The "?" is a symbol compatibility issue in my email program - I believe it is meant to be the Euro currency symbol.

CnB sucks end of story CnB is worse than the POL method of XI.

Mind you, this response I got is now six months old. Things might change with the new management.

The only thing we need is an option to switch the country of an account at anytime. Other games do that already, and it works fine. And yes this allow some people to avoid taxes, but it's not SE responsibility anyway.

I mean, are we supposed to buy another account whenever we move to another country?

CnB is such a pain in the ass you have to go to so much trouble to get it to work. I'm better off with Playonline system that allow me to pay on the 15 and get my full month of gameplay and then add Time cards like wow and every game out there. I just don't know why SE fail so much to put ads for FFXI and FFXIV on other part of the world? is it really hard to put tv ads for FFXI and FFXIV in usa?

The more and more i played FFXI i found it weird that wow had a TV ads on every dumb chl i look at but ffxi was no where.

SE really need to fix there payment problem and do more ads for USA and other part of the world if they want FFXIV to get better if not it be the same sh?? as FFXI just few fan players playing it.

I have a strong disliking for the Crysta system because of how it works. I posted this in another thread a while ago, but it explains what is wrong with the 'universal currency' named Crysta.

The Crysta system was a nice idea, but poorly implemented. It has holes all over it and will eventually cause more hassle than it's worth. Instead of creating a single universal currency for customer interaction with SE, it has created different kinds of Crysta but without the names. ie. you have US$ Crysta, €Euro Crysta, £GBP Crysta, and I'm sure a load of other currency Crysta's, none of which have the same value. Why does it have to be so complicated?

If you had valued all Crysta the same to start with, and allowed people to purchase that Crysta in relation to the value of their currency we could have had a universal currency. Instead, down the line, we'll have things for sale and e-mails saying X product costs 100 Crysta if you live in Europe, but 90 Crysta if you live in the UK, or 170 Crysta if you live in the US, etc. Then there's the rediculous logistics of customers changing residence between countries. Whoever thought up the Crysta purchasing methods was definitely off their game that day.

If the Crysta system is going to be fixed to make sense it's better it's done before people start paying subscription fees.

I only want to buy Crysta in Switzerland. I HATE CLICK AND BUY!!

I figured crysta would be for cash shop items and services like server transfers or whatever.

Then, just change it? You can change the number of posts per page in your General Settings. I have mine set to 40 posts per page, which is the maximum.

they didn't accept my credit card for unknown reason

crysta is the only way I can pay for this game monthly fee

the only reason i as going to/will use crysta is because i can get it through paypal, soo much easier than that other option >.>
