New Blog post "Interview with Director/Producer"
-
I'm considering getting one of those controllers or just a new Dualshock 3. Can't decide which.

Everything is around the Corner! After London, is when I feel the Benchmark is going to come (whenever that is lol)
-
So.. Aloooot of PVP questions. Wonder how he's answering those. I'da figured he'd try to dodge those for now since it wasn't planned for launch..

Unless, they managed to squeeze it in, If most of the questions where about PvP..and he dodged them, then it would be a pretty bland interview -.-.

Resolution was pretty low. I'd like to see how the scores do on Extreme Quality.

http://www.worldkreate.com/wp-conten...odge-This1.gif /dodge lol Yeah I'm sure Yoshi-p was doing this the whole time XD

Since Pinurabi seems to travel with Yoshi-P I wonder who of the comreps we saw in the San Fransisco event actually work at the North American SE branch and who of them travel with Yoshi/work with SE in Japan. At first I thought they all work in Japan and accompained Yoshi on his media tour but on the second thought this is probably not very likely. ^^;
(I think we saw Okipuit, Camate, Bayohne, Rukkirii, Triary, Foxclon - ok that one is probably obvious - and did we have Fernehalves?)
Any ideas on this? (And no - I live to far away to stalk them. Even if it is the U.S. ;) )
-
The (Exploration) tag is interesting.
-
I want the USB keys!!!!
Now that's out the way, I can imagine it now "Can you tell us about xxx system?" Well I shouldn't really, but who will know so... lol

DO NOT PURCHASE THAT CONTROLLER!
My wife and I purchased two for XIV1.0 and they always randomly lost connection with their wireless dongle. If you look up connection issues with that specific controller there are quite a few complaints on the Logitech website.

Rukkiri, Bayhone, Camate and Okipuit work at the North American offic, Triary and Foxclon work at the Japanese office. Fern also works at the Japanese office, but his ticket to America got stolen.

Thanks for the advice. The wireless connection was actually what had me wondering the most (that and the d-pad). Guess a new PS3 controller it is.

Is that the score for that sony laptop?

I presume is a 'scenery/enviroment only' benchmark, about new areas and stuff.

I wonder if Yoshi is finally thinking to delay the launch to implement such a common thing like PvP.
This is another proof of what i said in my old topic (the one about real game direction).
For journalists and casual/new players the PVP it's a MUST!
And releasing a game without it, will have a terrible impact on the game release.
I can already imagine the waterfall of negative comment from both sites reviews and players,
like: where is the PvP ? SE din't learn from it's past errors, they released again an incomplete game etc. etc.
And if you want my personal opinion, the success of an MMO (commercial speaking) it's decreted by it's launch.
Release a complete of all features game = Success!
Release an incomplete game, with promises like: Oh in the very first patch it will have PvP = FAIL!
If the PvP it's really scheduled for the 1° major patch, just like housing, why don't delay the game of 1-2 month?
Again sorry for my english, i hope you'll understand what i mean ;)

I use Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows. You just plug in receiver and it works, no need to install drivers.

I know, but I find that controller unnecessarily large and heavy, the batteries terrible (that bulky nickel battery they sell separately), the d-pad hideous, and the asymmetrical sticks uncomfortable. So yeah, no. :/
I've been looking for an alternative, but I guess I'll still have to deal with MotionInJoy if I want a reliable (and comfortable) wireless controller.
-
i would love to have those USB sticks :|

Not really no cause FFXI did great w/o to start with...but yes it was added later only to faded almost away...so Pvp is not a must for MMO'S, other wise every MMO, even Hello Kitty online (why the hell did i say that one? >.>) would have pvp...
-
PvP is a must in current mmos because you need some competitive aspect to the game that players can play over and over and test there skills against actual players. Yoshi-P already said he was big in to PvP so I am sure he will do a good job with it.

Yeah XI did well cuz 11 years MMOs where for niche players only...
You forgot that ARR it's supposed to compete vs the modern MMOs (Yoshida said this many time) ,
and guess what? Every modern (and not..) MMOs have PvP ...
Another thing, i don't care about PvP (i'm mostly a PVE player) but i care for the game success :/

Better then the pvp in wow hopefully, Though it would be rather hard to just fight each other cause you made the mistake of killing a guard or other pvp marked npc and getting pvp stats yourself....Unless...never mind
-
I agree Forgo, I think FF is the exception to the, MUST have PVP, FFXI was a great example of that. Yes, I did it when I was bored out of my gourd, but it was never anything that I looked forward to. As with all things this is my personal opinion I certainly don't think they should delay beta release to implement PVP, nor do I think that's was a huge reason 1.0 failed. PVP is not fundamental to FF that's why Yoshi-p has not focused on it. Give it time it'll come around.

There's plenty of PvP based MMOs on the market as is. XIV also is a failed MMO which is an image that you can't easily erase. Why jump ship to FFXIV for PvP when you can stick with the MMO you've already been dedicated to? He may be big on PvP but there's a reason people hop from MMO to MMO very quickly and very easily.
SE really doesn't need that to happen with ARR but it will if people honestly think PvP is the key reason to make an MMO good. It's well known based on the series and last FF MMO that it'd be a PvE centric game.

Straight from SE: Final Fantasy XI is their most profitable title. Being niche is definitely a bad thing. Agreed. It made them no money whatsoever.

This is what the wife and I use now:
http://www.speedlink.com/?p=2&cat=4131&pid=26941&paus=1
The price is nice and low for a gamepad that is wireless, USB Re-chargeable (yay no batteries needed), has a rumble feature if you install the drivers but the controller functions without drivers (just no rumble). Quality wise it is surprising. It feels nice, has a good weight..not too heavy but not so light it's cheap feeling. Neither of us have had any problems with them since purchase over a year ago now.
If you don't live in the UK and don't mind importing:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...1&s=videogames
Cost a little more but no importing needed:
http://www.amazon.com/SPEEDLINK-STRI.../dp/B0046A8HU0
The only downside I can think of is that it does not come with the USB cable for re-charging. However, it is the same kind of cable the PS3 controllers use for recharge...so you likely have one laying around the house...and if not they are cheap to buy.

Both links actually end up costing almost the same if you do the conversion. XD
Thanks for that one. It's actually like $5 cheaper than the DS3, and has native compatibility. I may get that one.

I'm surprise SE does not do it to make some money on the side. There a high demand for a lot of stuff base on FFXIV they should really think about selling some.

PvP was in FFXI. It was called Ballista. It didn't have a lot of success BUT it was PvP.
As for PvP in ARR, I don't really care if it is present or not. If the equipements are PvP-exclusive with PvP-only boosts on them and it doesn't interfere with the PvE and PvE content... I don't mind. Let the people wanting to kill each other do so while I clear Behemoth's Maze, the Crystal Tower and do some multi-party big event against amazing foes (something like Dynamis, Besieged or Campaigns in FFXI).
