they must add like a small cape that show your LINKSHELL insignia as a vanity slot... that way you can know what clan they are part off if you can just saw then walk by
it also can looks like a Scarf
Cape? noooo please no. I don't want to play a batman and robin MMO !
First respone.. meh
Then I started to think about it .. Each clan has distinct differences enough that I think distinct clan armor would be awesome, hellsguard vs the seapuppies.. :D Pretty cool~!
Curious how they would balance or when to place them though.
Perhaps the racial is the clan gear?
Roe Racial chest - but looks different depending on which race wears it. What do you think?

Vanity slots? :D
I'd like to see something actually made for Elezen ears and other individual race attributes... even the Sun and Moon of the Miqo'te clans would we rather different to each other
Could be a real lore builder.
MOAR Gear design contests SE ~ Go!
Are we forgetting that the linkshell insignia is displayed beside our names?
Was it just me? lol I thought OP was refering to the clans of the races like Wildwood vs Duskwight.
Why would *desirable* be the point? Midlander and Highlander is quite different in looks, and culture, so why would it just be different shade/pattern?
Anyways, i think clans already have different starting gear. As for actual armors...doubt it, they would need to do a different look for each armor, for each clan; that's way to much work.

Discussion is regarding clans, not free companies. We're talking Dunesfolk and Hellsguard here.
A little off topic but sort of along the same lines.. I really wish they would cut holes in helms/chain head pieces for miqo ears instead of having these weird metal points..
Example:
This looks crappy (look at the ears)

This looks good (again the ears):

Click the images to enlarge.. Sorry that they are pretty crappy res & you can barely see what I am talking about, but I preferred not to wear head pieces, partly for this reason.
Race armor is a good idea, also I would like to see some more "cultural armor" like how you'll notice that some NPCs in Limsa are wearing navy like uniforms as an example, we need more of that but on a bigger scale.
I was somewhat disappointed when I saw that the Grand Company uniforms were the same in all 3 nations, even though the 3 leaders had very different looking styles that should have been in my opinion the "leader variety" of what the soldiers wore for each company.
While on the subject of clothes, am I the only one that would like a feature where Free company members get their gear dyed to match the FC's colors, when they wear the pearl for it?
It really depends on how SE decides to treat the different races/clans in ARR. While 1.0, had lore on the site for clans, made no real effort to differentiate between them in-game. FFXI had a lot more in-game lore between the race/clans/countries and even created a sense of culture around the races. fxiv does have culture between the cities, it does not between race, at least not an obvious one.
I Think original dev team stated that they didn't want their to be a big difference between race as far as gameplay/store goes and the new team didnt change that in 1.0 so we will have to wait and see what they do for ARR. If they races had their own unique feature in terms of culture, then u can create cloths around that aspect, right now there is no such difference between the race.
Yes clan specific armour, but not crappy starting gear. Clan specific "lore" quests and lv50 gear sets. Also whilst I am here, get someone different to design each separate set so they don't look as if one person designed every item of clothing in the entire game as it did in 1.0.
Capes work great for some equipment like Knight type gear or mantles for some mage gear, I'd like to see them in game as part of the design of some body pieces so they wouldn't look too out of place.
Also, emulating cloth can be done at a decent enough level that it doesn't look ridiculous nowadays, so yeah I would like to see some more equipment that utilize that.
Capes are soooo fantastic right!?

that why i like FFXI storyline more then FFXIV in the sense the each race had it own culture. You knew why this race dislike that race or why this race befriend and live in this city. In FFXIV we all mix together the only thing we know that 4 race came from other island outside of eorzea and elezen are the only one that belong in eorzea.
Yoshi-p should really start thinking of adding mix race NPC in the game because in FFXI i understand how it could be rare. Each race that could mix dislike each-other like hume and elvaan and galka could not even mix with other race so that count them out lol.
I really want more culture everytime i play FFXIV i feel like i don't really belong anywhere. Just a person who can sign up to anything and join. I know that the point of us players but i did enjoy the fact that i'm a elvaan and i was born in san d'oria and i do anything for them. I just hope they can bring some of that into FFXIV something to hook me lore wise when it come to my race/clan.
