Seriously. I would be happy if tomorrow the Guardian's Favor system was gone, and surplus was entirely removed.
They will get rid of it eventually. But for the time being it's not a bad idea. Their plan to limit our progress failed a bit tho haha :)
Last night I hit surplus on my CRP and I haven't even done a full level all in all. I saw the yellow numbers and were like.. ugh.. /logout XD
YES! Agreed! REMOVE Fatigue system please!
Agreed, please remove it. I played on Archer for only 4 or 5 hours before I hit surplus last week...
I am with you guys, I hope Surplus is removed so everyone can benefit from this, no matter how you see it.
Surplus isn't entirely limiting because one of my friends went from 23-48 archer in a little over a week and a half... through surplus. It does get annoying though and quite slow after a while.
I don't see them removing this until advanced job classes come.
I agree this system needs to be removed. There's no point to it, especially after the SP update. I ignore Surplus and continue grinding exp.
Surplus is much more noticeable due to the changes to SP gain. Surplus has yet to be adjusted to reflect the said changes, though personally I feel they should get rid of it.
Guardian's Favour though, I feel they should keep it, but they need to broaden that, to based on who your current divine Patron/Matron is.
For the love of God please remove this stupid system. When subscriptions start up, theres no way in hell I would pay for a service that has such penalty on players. The system should work the opposite. People who play less should get some type of bonus sp. Don't penalize the hardcore players. Its just one more way you alienate your main player base.
See, surplus is noticeable, however.
If you don't play too much, It won't affect you at all.
If you are a freak and play a lot, you shouldn't really care. I rank up my classes 2 days a week with out surplus, the rest, with, and yet, I easily rank up.
Yes please!
Just grind through it. I mean seriously you can get a job from rank 1 to 20 in a day. It's so easy to level right now losing 10% of your SP isn't going to kill you.
I'd also like to see surplus gone, but if they really don't intend to get rid of it for the near future they at least need to change how it slows down. Week for a reset is too long especially after the latest changes basically make it possible to hit surplus in a couple hours easily. IMO take surplus away, add more content that forces people to 'want' to stop ranking up but in a good way. Class quests that open up new gameplay options (new spells or abilities like with Guild Marks), new gear to quest etc. Slowing the grind down is not a very good means to slow people down from ranking up too fast, it just makes the game more frustrating and more observant of the simple fact you don't have enough content in the game which imo is the only reasons you would ever have such a system in the first place; to get people to slow down and work on other content.
I support this. Remove it.
Its the principle of the matter. It could only take away 1 sp point, but the fact that the system is in place at all is dumb. The game is penalizing people for PLAYING the game. And they expect players to eventually pay a subscription? No, it don't work that way. You wanna reward players who play less? Give them some kind of rested sp, but don't penalize those who play the game.
Surplus should probably be removed seeing as it very early on failed to do its job.
Man up and deal with, there is nothing wrong with it just wasting space moaning about, its for people that cant play all day because they have jobs GA gives you a nice boost, and half helps you keep up with other people.
"Man up and deal with it" is not the answer. Not if SE plans to pull this game out of their butt and into success.
Players should not be punished for playing longer than someone else. If anything the system should be reversed, the players with less time should have an exp boost for a certain amount of time while the players with more time only get the normal rate.
I find surplus no different then a rested bonus now.
Se should drop all sp by 30% then give us a 30% rested bonus which goes down to 0 over time. Instant fix to the surplus problem. All it needed was a positive twist.
its not really doing what it was intended to do tho, and it's only real effect is making ppl angry lol
Wow guys. This is kind of sad. Besides the fact that it is slowing your main class's growth, whats wrong with it? Do you understand why it's in place? It's supposed to make you level multiple jobs to increase your characters skill pool as apposed to physical strength on your main. For instance you might have a Marauder at 40 but he would be so much better with skills like: Second Wind, Cure/ Sacrifice II, Provoke, Feather Foot, Taunt, ect.
And for those of you who jump into fatigue right after getting out, their is a trick. LEVEL SOMETHING ELSE! The more SP you get on one class the more your Fatigue decreases on your other classes (plus time away of course.)
Its a brilliant system, you just have to see what its pushing you to do and do it.
I wouldnt say completely remove it, rather a max of sp per day. That way its easier for them to use the system to catch cheaters and our progress will still be halted, but not as noticeable.
It doesn't affect me and most players much, but honestly at the moment is just a pretty useless system. I'd get rid of it as well.
The less calculations the server has to make, the less lag for everyone. If you want to give an advantage to players that have little time, a positive rested experience system works better and is way less convoluted.
Trust me alternate jobs from DoW to DoH to a different DoW and you'll never deal with 2nd stage surplus.
lol i have never heard of anyone quitting from surplus system.
IMO surplus or the Fatigue system is what is officially called, may be remove or not, like SirOleas says, instead of getting rid of the Fatigue system, change it to Experience boost to those who play 1-3 days a week. That way it encourage both to level up, but then again, Fatigue system never really did their job, and i say fix it instead of getting rid of it.
They should give us SP refunds (Like tax refunds) of all the SP we missed out on due to the fatigue xD
This system needs to go. Part of the idea of the Armory system is freedom to play what you want when you want, but implied is the freedom to play a single class as much as you want if you so choose. Any system in an MMO that punishes people for dedicated playing is an inherently bad idea, since an MMO should be designed to get people to play as much as possible. You say it's solved by changing classes, but what if I only enjoy one class. For a year in FF11 basically the only class I played was Paladin because I just didn't enjoy playing as other jobs, and I got by just fine. The game shouldn't force me to play jobs I don't find entertaining just for the hell of it, I should choose to play those jobs when I feel the urge to.
Omg yes! D: Get rid of this stupid surplus system. The game is already grindy with tnr reaching 100k. We don't need an even slower game -_-
i'm sure after 3 days without surplus the servers will be full of 50 :P btw right now it's just annoying, need at least a huge change on exp cap for tresholds
Its like working out. If you do curls every day all day then you wont get stronger you'll actually weaken your muscle. You need rest! So go lift your legs.
I never in my life expected so much opposition to this. Surplus is a great idea. It's a wonderful, creative alternative to steep experience curves. If you play infrequently, you'll either never encounter it, or rarely hit above 10%. It's one of the few GOOD ideas they've had that I do not wish to see go away.
I've been affected by it quite severely. Going from 49 to 50 with 40% (and later 50%) penalty was harsh. The system did what it was meant to: It made it hard for me to go from 46 to 50 in a week, as well it should! Which is exactly what any other game would do, except casual players need to put in less hours to do it than I had to, which is only a good thing for those with limited play time. Having choices is never a bad thing, and surplus gives you an option as to how fast you want to level, instead of saddling everyone (casual or hardcore) with the same steep experience curve. If you want to go from 46 to 50 in a week like I did, you're going to put in some serious grind hours because that surplus is gonna suck. If you don't like slow leveling, take your time or switch to another class.
With the SP system as it is now, stop looking at surplus as a penalty and start looking at it as "normal" SP. Without surplus, SP goes VERY fast, but you will also hit that 10% penalty very fast too.
The thing is though is that the cap WILL be raised so having over 200k or perhaps 300k tnr while getting about 200-300 sp per mob kill (if you're grinding when you're out of leves) would just suck. There weren't any surplus system on FFXI, but we had level caps (which we can bypass on the same day we reach it). People can get Lv50 in like a week (if they had everything done already), but here on this here it's much slower ; ;
Having no surplus system wouldn't be game breaking either. One of the reasons that people leave this game is because the leveling is so slow. IF we want FFXIV to survive and do well (and beat the best MMOs out there) we are gonna have to conform and stop thinking this game is any different from others out there.
Yoshida did say that trying to be so different didn't work out too well for this game.
I think this system is an interesting idea, but it still needs Alot fixing and polishing. Weakly reset, its just too long of a wait for hardcore players like myself. Though having diferent clas skils is nice players shouldin't be forced to level other classes, its a choice players should make when they want it and not when the system tell them "its time to change class". :)
Or Instead of fatigue there should be a rested state. reverse of the surplus system. But if it is reversed then the level up curve should be increased, meaning more points needed to level up, or simply more Ranks/Levels. Otherwise you would finish the game insanely fast..
MantiTeran, in the words of Peter Griffin:
