Area for Samurai and Ninja

Hello folks,

I recently came across some info of the far east country Radz-at-Han http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Radz-at-Han
and i was wondering if you guys think they would use this like they did in ffxi?

it would be very interesting if they took this direction..

I'm not sure if samurai and ninja is in the devs radar right now. I know that they are interested in summoner and possibly musketeer. But I've heard nothing of ninja and samurai.

I forgot which live letter it was but they discussed musketeer ninja and samurai but of course summoner comes first before either of those three i am talkin after all that of course

I'm just saying the majority of the player-base would rather have Samurai rather than Musketeer, regardless of the current course SE is taking. Name another MMO that has Samurai as a class? Not to mention it's former popularity in FFXI. Excuse my fanboying.

Oh yeah I think I remember that live letter then. If they add ninja and samurai I would imagine that ninja would be the first class and the samurai would be the extension to the ninja class.

Well there is samurai warriors but that is F2P and it didn't look as good as ff11's use of samurai...

That's quite interesting actually. I had never even heard of that place being mentioned in the game. Though seeing how there isn't any information on it other than that being the Giantsgall weapons' origin, and it being a "Near-Eastern city-state", we can't really deduce that it may be the home for Ninja, Samurai or any other class.

My question is, what leads you to think that this might be their area? Is it because they mentioned it's Eastern, so we might be able to related with their origin from reality, or is it because since practically we have no information on this place, it give an opportunity for these two classes (or class/job) to have a guild there?

There's a lot missing from the game's lore. This is why I loved how they handled it with XI that lacked some in-game explanations but still linked. (Vanadiel Tribune, A lore book released prior to WotG iirc.)

I hope they put in these 2 classes eventually...been lookin forward to it :) Also, nice find OP...seems like a perfect place for the classes :o

Yoshi-P made an example that used red mage in the armory system but it wasn't a confirmation just an explanation of the expansion of the system and a reason it was not being abandoned for straight job system. I believe it was in the E3 interview and not sure if it was the translator but some one made the disclaimer that it was for the sake of explanation unlike the ninja and samurai reference.

i think it was a live letter that he said to look forward to nin/sam the hard part is to introduce things and for it to make sense in the game's lore ..Yoshi-P loves good story telling , as example Fernehalwes recently stated there are good reasons why highlander women weren't around and it all will be explained etc.

I just hope that, whatever they do with ninja/samurai, they do give them some nice background - hopefully an area (a real area) of origin, too - and not pull off another "far east" like in XI.

I don't doubt that SE will add Samurai and Ninja to the game, I just hope they take some artistic licenses with SAM/NIN equipment.

The FFXI AFs looked too "authentic" for my taste but later additions like the Hachiman equipment looked alot better.

What's the reasoning behind a ninja class having a samurai job? In popular lore (which the FFXI samurai is based on) samurai and ninja are pretty much opposites :)

They have mentioned they were looking into adding more popular FF jobs, including ninja and samurai, and they've also said they were looking into how to add them, and whether it's doable to have multiple jobs per class. If they go with multiple jobs per class, samurai would be a job for either warrior (very likely) or archer (not very likely, but historically more correct :)), ninja would have to be a job for maybe a rogue class. Rogue class could also get thief as job.

That's all just speculation of course, and we'll have to wait until they actually start implementing more new jobs before we know anything. We're already getting summoner, and I believe musketeer is a given to be the next new class/job considering there's already content for musketeer, or at least, there was content for musketeer in 1.0 :)

Yoshi-P talked about to fulfill made promises. And musketeer is one of this promises since the musketeer guild is in Limsa.
And don't expect the FF XIV Samurai would be the same as the FF XI Samurai ^^

Exactly, as it stands right now musketeers have a guild, lore, setting, etc etc behind it the only thing is that it isn't physically in the game for players to use. Samurai & ninja currently have no guild, lore, setting etc Etc behind them in 1.0 SE from a technical stand point would add musketeers first since its already has more work done to it while Sam &. Ninja would have to be made from the ground up needing setting, guild, lore, story, etc etc.

Nice find OP. Ninja and Samurai need to have a proper setting and background before implementation. A far eastern city from an expansion pack with new jobs, and more new areas to explore will be perfect after ARR.

Yes that would be if they decide to extend the job ranks even further... If they don't decide to then I would think they would have ninja extend to samurai since they could relate the story of the extension quests with ninja and samurai together... plus it is not the first time they had one class extend to a non-similar class. Arc/Bard

In one of the live letters someone was asking if we would see the return of weapons such as the Masamune and Excalibur due to them being such iconic weapons in the Final Fantasy series, Yoshi P himself replied saying they would return when they introduce Samurai and Ninja. So it isn't a matter if, as much as WHEN!

Archer/bard is a bit of a weird one, but Ninja/Samurai would be worse. They'd have to either have ninja use great katana, or samurai use regular/small katana, and I'm pretty certain potential samurai wouldn't want to be wielding a wakizashi, unless it's in their offhand while their main hand is holding a great katana (daisho ftw! :))

Actually the samurai might have the small katana as an off hand. They always used to carry it in case they ever got captured so they could commit seppuku... And you're right unless they get the ninja's to use great katana's I doubt the ninja will extend to samurai... Although I think I remember reading a while ago that it wouldn't be uncommon for ninja to use great katana, they were taught many forms of fighting after all...

Samurai shouldn't branch from Ninja. They're from different worlds with different rules. One is a cold blooded assassin and the other is a noble warrior.

I'd also like a traditional Japanese like look with these armors for Samurai.

These two jobs were mentioned specifically in a question to the producer about masamune. This was specifically mentioned in the live panel for the anniversary event. He said that they dont want to implement that weapon until there is a samurai and/or ninja class that can actually do it justice.

Though I loved summoner I would rather be a beast master again. Rather then arcanist I would rather be a samurai or ninja again. Rather then Musketeer I would rather be a archer who doesn't have to be a damn bard. It's like SE -kind of- listens to people and then totally does something different sometimes..

Huge outcry for Beastmaster so were getting little pets? nooooo SE nooo ><
People missed summoner so we have this whakabrainy idea to re add summoner, give carby to arcanist(Like seriously WTF?!?!) and still have some odd primal linkshell summon idea that just screams HMLS endgame claimbots again (imo)
People miss bard so we made ARCHERS sing a song? @.@(worst idea ever, ruined archer imo..)

I dont want XI-2 but I want my XI classes back. These new ideas turn my stomach..

I wonder how deep into the asian theme SE will go with samurai and ninja - I am confident that those two classes will have resemblance to their real counterpart as for one it would be illogical not to (call something its not) and for two they've always done it.

But say the home town or wherever these quests are obtained.. Will it have an Asian theme like romanticized and real landscape, architecture and culture? If so I'd further wonder if our player homes will get an update to use these structures and lands.. I'd like to have an Asian temple XD perhaps secluded - in some far away update it would be nice to have your own plot of land in your own area "I own this mountain and temple that rests upon it".

Yoshida definitely has these two classes on the sooner to do list, but said that he wants more mage classes first to balance out the DoW to DoM ratio. Looking forward to concept art :D

Summoner is tied to the storyline because of the Primals, so it has to come first before any of the other jobs.
