Looks like we might be getting those new year helmets after all.

So we have 3 pets so far.

Beastmaster ahoy? ...or simply friendly pets ala wow?

Oh, nice! I was a bit down about having a missing year in the cycle. Glad to see they plan on supplying the relevant gear to this past missed New Year's celebration. :)

I wonder how they plan on implementing that baby behemoth, though.

Looks more like a pig in a behemoth suit than a behemoth to me. lol

This is my first "new year" in FFXIV lol i want the other 2 hats D:

I think the pets will be part of the new housing system.

As far as the Kabuto, I don't know how they will implement it. Having a new-years event in beta stage 3 or 4 (when stuff actually starts getting saved) is a bit late.

It could be that the Benchmark gets released on Jan 7th, and obtaining the Kabuto is related to it somehow.

It's more like players like to troll themselves, a long tradition since recruiting Kefka to your team or reviving Aerith or playing as Zack by collecting the tiny soldiers.

Kabuto might be just a give away from a NPC when game launches :D and the 7th will be benchmark , the tiny ghost guy is wearing behemoth hat instead of the snake one tho i wonder why

I agree. Going to an event is considerably more fun than not going to one.

Hey, if they're willing to reach back in time to make sure we get this year's helmet, I wouldn't be totally opposed to a game of "Event Item Catch-up." Due to some college madness, I missed a few events last year - including the Year of the Dragon helmet and ANTLERS, which I'm still pretty bummed about.

Baby Behemoth reminds me of the grunties from .hack// - and looking back on it, the XI behemoth does look like an extremely buff dog-hog.

Baby pets to roam around the house?! Hell yes!!

One can wish anyway...

Not necessarily. There's no reason they can't let you buy previous years rewards like in FFXI.

Personally, I like the idea of codes for the helmet being distributed to those who participate in the first stage of beta that aligns with the chinese new year (for which all legacy players are eligible). Such codes could then be keyed into SE accounts to give us the bonus waiting for us in our armoir when we finally log in after beta finishes.

I love the helmet O_O Snakes are so cool :) as for the behemoth that looks sweet as well, I would love to have one as a pet haha

Hope if they start making pets that they are treated as such.. Always wanted to feed my pets in WoW(not counting hunter). Or at least see them grazing or something when left alone.. They are very close to being immersible tools if put with only slight cautions to what and how (the difference between rp and vanity).

Should do it to beta 3 or 4.. beta 1 will be mostly legacy and some other people who had active accounts might not get in - that would be very uncool for them.

Okay I have a question. So the helmet is a snake helmet for the 2013 Year of the snake... I get that.

However, when we actually will get to play the game will be Phase 1 Beta about Mid-Feburary. And the game probably won't release till Mid June-July.

So what would be the point in making this snake helmet? When the New Year event will be way past due?!

Theories:
1. Yoshi will be providing us Beta testers with a Heavensturn event in Beta! So this helmet will only be retrievable if you participated in beta!
2. There will be belated events to do when the game releases.

Keeping with the theme they are doing with Samurai helmets with animal themes. Since next year is 2014 Year of the Horse! I imagine the next helmet will be the following! lol
